A Time for Everything
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
A Time to be born
Corrie Lee Jackson Chiplin, affectionately called Carlee, Mama, Grandma, Big Ma, Aunt Carlee, Miss Aunt Carlee and Baby, was born
on December 11, 1934, in Fayette, MS, to the late Monroe & Etta Jackson. Corrie was the baby girl, knee baby of 16 children born
to her parents.
A Time to Live
In the early 1950's, Corrie moved from Fayette to Vicksburg and united in Holy Matrimony with Thomas Chiplin, Sr. To this union, seven children, Bobby, Denise, Rose, June, Rickey, Charles, and Thomas were born. That marriage ended in divorce; however, the ties with her inherited family, The Chiplins, remained strong even until death. Corrie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Zion in Vicksburg. Later, she united with Mount Carmel M.B. Church where she was a faithful member until her health began to decline. Corrie worked at the Chiplin family store and at All Saints Episcopal School. More important to her, she was a nurturer to her family. She had a hand in the raising and molding of many nieces, nephew, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Because her mom died when she was five and her dad when she was 12, she always told us that her prayer to the "GOOD MAN ABOVE" was to let her see all of her children grown. Not only did God grant her the desires of her heart, he allowed her to see most of her grandchildren grown and blessed her to be an intricate part of the lives of her great-grandchildren. Her legacy surely lives on through the many hours of love she shared with her family.
A Time to Die
God saw his child getting tired, and He whispered, “Peace Be Thine”, on Saturday, October 20 at 10:53 p.m., surrounded by many loved ones, our virtuous woman made her transition to glory to be reunited with her parents, Monroe & Etta Jackson, her daughter, Rosa Lee Chiplin-Rankin, all of her siblings, James Jackson, JP Jackson, Grover Jackson, Issac Jackson, Monroe Jackson, Wendell Jackson, Tom Willie Jackson, LC Jackson, Holly Bell Wyatt, Artel Reed, Estella McBride, Mary Dell McCraney, Rebecca McBride, Johnnie Rose Johnson, Infant Jackson, and other family and close friends. But most importantly, we are confident that she got opportunity to be reunited with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and hear Him say “Well done, good and faithful servant: you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord.”
A Time to Weep and a Time to Laugh: A Time to Mourn and a Time to Dance
Although our hearts are heavy as we mourn her passing, we do rejoice as we celebrate her transition to glory. No more pain or suffering for her. As she has told us so many time before, “Death is a debt we all have to pay”.
She leaves to cherish her memories FOREVER, six children, Bobby (Mary) Chiplin, Denise Chambers, June (Willie) Thomas, Rickey (Lena) Chiplin, Charles (Janice) Chiplin, and Thomas (Angela) Chiplin, all of Vicksburg; ten grandchildren, Michael (Kam) Chiplin, Terrell Chiplin, Nat (Eric) West, Pamela Freeman, LaBrone (Ponzella) Chiplin, Lucius (Stacy) Chambers, Jr., Eric Chiplin, Desarai Chiplin, Ajavian Chiplin, and Tinya Chiplin. Seventeen great-grandchildren, a very special nephew (son), Alfred “Pat” McBride, nieces, nephews and other family members including the Darden, Harried, Naylor, Jackson, and Wyatt families.
