GLOSTER -- Vickey Marie Felter, she of the glorious smile, the angelic focus of our family, passed away on Sept. 23, 2004.

Mrs. Felter, 55, of Natchez, passed away at Natchez Community Hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Grady Fulton.

Burial will follow in Enlow cemetery near Crosby under the direction of the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Felter was born icon Oct. 11, 1948, in Talihina, Okla., the daughter of Nicholas A. and Nora Anderson Cochnauer.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Dixon Cochnauer, Lee Cochnauer, Stanley Cochnauer and Marion Cochnauer.

Survivors included her husband, Clarence Douglas Felter Jr.; three daughters, Roshell Steakley and her husband, John, both of McKinney, Texas, Carla Felter of Natchez and Charlotte Bland and her husband, Craig, both of Byram; two sons, Richard "Ricky" Felter and his wife, Tonya, both of Natchez, and Nicholas "Nick" Felter of Natchez; a special nephew, Dennis Cochnauer, who she loved like a son; six grandchildren, Chelsea Felter, Coty Austin, Kaitlyn Blaney, Jacob Bland, Gabriel Bland and Layla Felter; one step-granddaughter, Lexi Steakley; one sister, Betty Bowden of Hugo, Okla.; three brothers, Billy Cochnauer of Hugo, Bobby Cochnauer of Witchita Falls, Texas, and N.H. Cochnauer of Hugo; and her Mother-in-law, Joyce "Mother" Felter, who she loved like a mother.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Floyd, David Felter, Lawrence Adams, Richard Felter, Nicholas Felter and Randy Floyd.

Honorary pallbearers will be Spanky Felter, Ryan White and Jimmy Felter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Natchez Children's Home.

Dorothy Grant Williams

WINCHESTER, Tenn. -- Services for Dorothy Grant Williams, 81, of Belvidere, Tenn., who died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at St. Thomas Hospital, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Belvidere United Church of Christ.

Burial followed at Maxwell cemetery in Belvidere under the direction of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.

Mrs. Williams was born icon in Franklin County, Tenn., the daughter of Robert Grant and Alma Counts Grant.

She worked as a collections agent for the Franklin County Credit Bureau.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Vaughn Allen "Buddy" Williams; one son, Davis Williams of Clarksville, Tenn.; one daughter, Gina Buckley of Natchez; and two granddaughters, Kristi Williams of Raleigh, N.C., and Aimee Harmon of Knoxville, Tenn.

Richard J. Maher

CHICOPEE, Mass. -- Funeral services for Richard J. Maher, M.D., 78, of Chicopee, who died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004 at his home, will be Monday morning at 10:45 at the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home in Holyoke, Mass, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Anne Church, Chicopee. Burial will be in St. Jerome cemetery in nearby Holyoke, Mass.

Dr. Maher was born icon in Boston, son of the late George and Gertrude (Paynter) Maher and graduated from Boston College High School, College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., and Tufts Medical School in Boston. He served his residency at Boston City Hospital and his internship at Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C. A physician since 1954, Dr. Maher lived in Holyoke, Mass., for many years, where he ran a private practice from 1954 to 1978. In 1978, he was a founder of Medical West in Chicopee, where he served as medical director for 17 years, retiring in 1995. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and Korea and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve until 1969. Dr. Maher was past president of the Providence Hospital Medical Staff and served as chief of staff at Holyoke Hospital. In 1969, he was the founder of the Alcoholic Outpatient Clinic at Holyoke Hospital and in 1974, started the Holyoke Detox. Center. He was past president of the Springfield Academy of Medicine, a member of the Hampden District Medical Society, and the American College of Physicians. He served many years as team physician for Holyoke Catholic High School sports and was an avid golfer, skier, and biker. Dr. Maher was a former member of the City of Holyoke Personnel Board and a member of the Knights of the Holy Seplucher. He was a devoted communicant of St. Anne Church in Chicopee and Holy Cross Church in Holyoke. Dr. Maher was predeceased by his first wife Mary (Fleming) Maher.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Rivest) Maher, two sons, Richard F. and his wife Lisa of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Christopher E. of Los Angeles, Calif., two daughters, Maureen M. Cotter and her husband Michael of Holyoke, and Eileen M. Maher and her husband G. Mark LaFrancis, parents of Mark Maher LaFrancis and Mary Maher LaFrancis, of Natchez; two brothers, John Maher and his wife Marjorie of Raynham, Mass., and William Maher of Easton, Mass., two sisters, Jean Shadley of Randolph, Mass., and Elaine Maher and her husband William of Canton, Mass., eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dr. Maher and his wife were frequent visitors to Natchez, where they attended Mass at St. Mary Basilica. He was particularly fond of the Natchez Festival of Music, where he and his wife attended many operas and performances; he enjoyed the Natchez Christmas Parade, the annual Holly Ball, and Cathedral High School baseball games. Contributions may be sent to the charity of your choice.

Eddie Washington

VICKSBURG - Services for Eddie Washington, 55, of Fayette, who died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at Claiborne County Hospital, will be 2 p.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Antoine Eakins officiating.

Burial will be in the family cemetery in Vicksburg under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home of Fayette.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Clara Atkins Davis

Feb. 21, 1920 - Sept. 22, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Clara Atkins Davis, 84, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004 at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Dan Wynn officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Davis was born icon Feb. 21, 1920, in Natchez, the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Cora Evelyn Hall Atkins.

She was a member of First Baptist Church-Natchez.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, James Atkins and Adrian Atkins.

Survivors include a sister, Doris Atkins Ray of Lufkin, Texas; sister-in-law, Polly Atkins of Natchez; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Spencer Stutzman Jr., Spencer Stutzman III, Ferd Passbach, George Flowers. Bill Rice, and Terry Estes.

Essie Mae Green Carter

Sept. 29, 1906 - Sept. 21, 2004

FAYETTE - Services for Essie Mae Green Carter, 97, of Fayette, who died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004 at Jefferson County Hospital, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Percy Turner officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home of Fayette.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and 1 p.m. until service time at the church.

Mrs. Carter was born icon Sept. 29, 1906, in Fayette, the daughter of the late Mattie Herrington and Mose Green.

She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and Jefferson County Lodge #202 P.H.A.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Carter; her parents; ten sisters; and six brothers.

Survivors include her son, Earnest Green of Fayette; daughter, Essie G. Pearson of Fayette; five grandchildren, Brenda Pearson of Jackson, Earnest Ray Allen of Roxie, Makeyaha Harried, Delanious Harried, and Lamarcus Harried, all of Fayette; four sisters, Augusta Warren, Annie Jones, Hilda Steverson, and Mamie Mazique, all of Natchez; one brother, Semo Green of Natchez; one brother-in-law, Lee Arthur Davis of Fayette; and one sister-in-law, Olivia Clark of Toledo, Ohio.

Phillip Grady Brown

GLOSTER - Services for Phillip Grady Brown, 77, of Crosby, who died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster with the Rev. John Hollowell officiating.

Burial will be at Woodlawn cemetery in Summit under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday.

Mr. Brown was born icon May 16, 1927, the son of Pertis Brown and Grace Hart Brown. He was a Baptist and a longtime resident of Crosby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel Brown of Crosby; a daughter, Betty K. Wheeler and husband Charles of Gloster; three grandchildren, Dwayne Wheeler of Slaughter, La., Stephanie Ford of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Keith Wheeler of Gloster; five great-grandchildren; one niece, Dorothy Sliman of Baton Rouge; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Wheeler, Keith Wheeler, Kim Ford, Fred Sliman III and John G. Brown.

H.M. Delaughter

Funeral arrangements for H.M. Delaughter, 93, of Natchez, who died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in San Antonio, Texas, are incomplete at Laird Funeral Home.

Jerry Paul Jones

Oct. 29, 1942 - Dec. 2, 2004

MCCALL CREEK - Services for Jerry Paul Jones, 62, of McCall Creek, who died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at St. Dominic Hospital, will be 2 p.m. today at Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 8 a.m. until service time today at the church.
