Georgia Rice "Puddin" Myles

Sept. 18, 1921 - July 27, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Georgia Rice "Puddin" Myles, 82, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Milford Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating.

Burial will follow at Daughters of Zion Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1:30 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Mrs. Myles was born icon Sept. 18, 1921, in Bolivar County, the daughter of Willie and Virginia Rice.

She was educated in the Adams County Public Schools, was retired from Hayden Kaiser and was a member of the Daughters of Zion Baptist Church and the Mother's Board.

Survivors include three sons, Willie (Sheila) Rice, George (Ida) Myles of New Orleans, La. and John A. Myles of Natchez; four daughters, Mary (James) Johnson, Ella Deloris (Freddie) Lyles, Tracy Myles and Najee Myles, all of Natchez; two brothers, Willie (Polly) Rice of Jackson and Samuel Bland of Natchez; four sisters, Vivian Wallace, Beatrice Gaylor, Neother Snyder and Johnetta Foster, all of Natchez; 28 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons.

Elva Cullens Suber

LOUISVILLE - Services for Elva Cullens Suber, 95, who died July 2004, at Miss. Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. today at Porter Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville with Dr. Don Boone officiating.

Burial will follow at Masonic cemetery under the direction of Porter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Suber was born icon July 11, 1909, in New Albany.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and was a retired bookkeeper from East Miss. Electric Power Association. She attended Miss Wylie's Business School in Memphis, Tenn., moved to Louisville in 1932, taught Sunday School and was active in WMU. She was a former member of Wednesday Culture Club, Pilot Club, Coffee Club, Little Theater and DAR.

Mrs. Suber was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Lee Suber.

Survivors include one son and his wife, Dr. Barry and Nancianne Suber of Natchez; one grandson and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 547, Louisville, MS 39339.

Amy E. "Sue" Maxie White

Sept. 11, 1940 - July 29, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Amy E. "Sue" Maxie White, 63, of Church Hill, who died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. David McGuffee of Highland Baptist Church assisted by the Rev. Fred Morris of Monticello officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. White was born icon Sept. 11, 1940, in Natchez, the daughter of Calvin S. Maxie Sr. and Mildred T. Mulkey Maxie.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Kevin Dillon; two brothers, Wayne Maxie and C.S. Maxie Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby A. White of Church Hill; two daughters, Renee Westbrook of Denham Springs, La. and Milli Wagoner and husband, Kenny of Natchez; three grandchildren, Laura Anne Herrin of Denham Springs, Cody and Courtney Wagoner of Natchez; two step-sons, Bobby Dean White of Church Hill and Randy White and wife, Denise of Brookhaven; two step-grandchildren, Haley and Peyton White of Brookhaven; five sisters, Mary Belle Cleboski of Porter, Texas, Anne Huff of Natchez, Connie Bozeman of Shreveport, La., Glenda Lance of St. Joseph, La. and Tonette Owens of Vidalia, La.; one brother, Bill Maxie and wife, Dee of Natchez; step-father, Jerry Mulkey of Natchez; special friends, Molly McClellan, Ginny Patterson, Carolyn Rollins, Margaret Smith and Dana Troutman.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Dean White, Scott Bandy, Joey Lance, Jimmy Huff, Ken Huff and Richard Coghlan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Huff and Randy White.

Jimmie Jones

Aug. 1, 1930 -- July 28, 2004

NATCHEZ -- Services for Jimmie Jones, 73, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at his residence, will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Bright Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Tracy Kusic officiating.

Burial will be in the Bethel AME Church cemetery in Kingston under the direction of Webb Funeral System.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Jones was born icon Aug. 1, 1930, in Natchez, the son of the late Elvira Ward and the late Sam Jones.

He was a retired logger at C.W. Wright and was a Baptist.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kelvin Tolbert.

Survivors include a very, very special friend of 24 years, Delores Marvel; children, Alberta Richardson and Jimmie Jones of Los Angeles, Calif.; step-children, Sgt. Clifton Marvel Jr. of Ft. Benning, Ga., Patrick Marvel of Houston, Texas and Brian Ryan, Alice Marvel and Cory Marvel, all of Natchez; sisters, Augustine Reynolds, Thelma Jones, Edna Rose Strauder and Dorothy Jones; brother, Edgar; two special grandchildren, Baby Girl and Granny; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Margeree Brown

June 15, 1953 - July 26, 2004

LORMAN - Services for Margeree Brown, 51, of Fayette, who died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorman with the Rev. Kemp Burley officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Mrs. Brown was born icon June 15, 1953, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Oscar D. Reed and Mary Williams.

She was a retired cook and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and the Usher Board.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her father, Oscar D. Reed.

Survivors include her husband, James Brown Sr.; her mother, Mary Williams; one son, James Brown Jr. of Fayette; four daughters, Mary Ella Brown of Detroit, Mich., Deborah Brown of Albany, Ga., Katina Brown of Detroit and LaTasha Brown of Fayette; two brothers, James McCoy of Vicksburg and Roosevelt Williams of Natchez; three sisters, Thelma Polk, Willie Mae Banks and Diane Williams, all of Fayette; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Amy E. Maxie White

NATCHEZ - Services for Amy E. "Sue" Maxie White, 63, of Church Hill, who died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Annie Mae Dotson

Oct. 31, 1909 - July 28, 2004

FAYETTE - Funeral arrangements for Annie Mae Dotson, 94, of Lorman, who died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at her residence, are incomplete at Rollins Funeral Homes, Inc.

Charlie Nichols Jr.

FAYETTE - Services for Charlie Nichols Jr., 57, of Fayette, who died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh First Baptist Church in Fayette with the Rev. Larry D. Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Adam Chapel Methodist Church cemetery in Fayette under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 8 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Roberta B. Blankenstein

ORANGE, Texas - Services for Roberta Briscoe Blankenstein, 92, who died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange with the Rev. Ben Skiles officiating.

Graveside services and burial will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Natchez City cemetery with son, Deacon Eddie Blankenstein officiating.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Blankenstein, a native of Natchez, had lived in Orange for over 60 years. She was owner/operator of Roberta's Jewelry. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and also The Daughter's of the American Revolution.

Mrs. Blankenstein was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Percy Blankenstein and son, Rev. Robert Blankenstein.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Roberta and Dr. Jimmy Howell of Houston and Anne and Dave Krause of Salado, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Eddie Wise and Martha Blankenstein of Orange; 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1401 W. Park, Orange, TX 77630.

David Gill Jr.

March 30, 1946 - July 26, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for David Gill Jr., 58, of Natchez, who died Monday, July 26, 2004, at his residence, was held at 3 p.m. July 29 at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel where Father David O'Connor officiated.

Burial was in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of the funeral home.

Mr. Gill was born icon March 30, 1946, in Natchez, the son of Quincy David Gill Sr. and the late Estelle Marie Gamberi Gill.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one son, David Jade Gill.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Crump Gill of Natchez; three sons, Sean (Nikki) Newman of Jackson, Lance Gill of Pensacola, Fla., and Daxton (Stephanie) Gill of Atlanta, Ga.; one step-son, Charles Hodges of Natchez; grandchildren, Madelyn Newman of Jackson; Ansley Gill of Atlanta; three step-grandchildren, Amanda Hodges of Natchez, Laura Hodges of Natchez, and Kaitlyn Hodges of Denham Springs, La.; one sister, Vivian (Douglas) Aarons of Vidalia; two brothers, Michael (Ilene) Gill and Raymond (Sherry) Gill, both of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Larry Gamberi, Freddie Gamberi, Ronnie Gamberi, Joe Gamberi Jr., Johnny Gamberi, Frank Gamberi, and Charles Gamberi.

Honorary pallbearers were Matt Chiasson, Douglas Aarons, Chris Gill, B.J. Gill, and Dan Harper Jr.

Edward Nichols

April 13, 1982 - July 24, 2004

BLUE HILL COMMUNITY - Services for Edward Nichols, 22, of Jackson, who died Saturday, July 24, 2004, in Jackson, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark Baptist Church in the Blue Hill Community with the Rev. Larry Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow at Little Zion Christian Church cemetery in Pattison under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Mr. Nichols was born icon April 13, 1982, in Natchez, the son of Darlene Nichols and Edward Berry.

He was employed by Pizza Hut in Jackson. Edward was the youngest of four children. He was a lovely baby boy.

Survivors include his mother, Darlene Nichols of Jackson; his father, Edward Berry of Jackson; two brothers, Emguel Nichols Jr. and Jerry Nichols, both of Jackson; one sister, Vershonda (Albert) Wright of Jackson; six aunts and seven uncles; a special friend, Michelle Thomas of Jackson; a special god mother, Juanita (U.L.) Gibson of Terry; a special cousin, Janet McDaniel (Todd) of Hazlehurst; three nieces, Tada Nichols, Tayiln Nichols and Albrissa Noel; two nephews, Albert Wright III and Devonte Wright; and a number of cousins and friends.\\

Hattie Mae Lyles

March 11, 1937 - July 26, 2004

SIBLEY - Services for Hattie Mae Lyles, 67, of Natchez, who died Monday, July 26, 2004, at her residence, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Sibley with the Rev. Robert L. Seals officiating.

Burial will follow at Mercy Seat Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Lyles was born icon March 11, 1937, in Natchez, the daughter of Walter and Lula Mae Woods.

She was a graduate of St. Frances High School and was a member of Mercy Seat Baptist Church. She loved fishing, shopping and family activities.

Mrs. Lyles was preceded in death by her parents, Lular and Walter Woods Sr.; two brothers, Walter Woods Jr. and Arthur Lee Woods; and two granddaughters.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda R. (Joseph) Perry, Debra A. (David) Whittley and Bridget Lyles (Eric Woods); step-daughter, Amber Lyles, all of Natchez; two sons, William (Juanella) Lyles Jr. of Natchez and Sgt. Contreal Lyles of Killean, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Latrece, Travon (Jennifer) Sr., Toya, Janiece, Treniece, Danielle, Danica, William III, Joseph Jr., Monterro Jr., Contreal Jr. and Chance; grandson, Travon and nephew, Sontois Woods, whom she reared as her own; four great-grandchildren, Nakia, Destiny, Christian and Travon Jr.; four sisters, Vivian Brown of Chicago, Ill., Rosie King, Delores Woods, Arynita (Thed) Woods, all of Natchez; five brothers, James Thomas, Adolph (Theresa) Woods Sr. and Joseph (Charlene) Woods Sr. of Kenner, La., Kenneth (Patti) Woods and Darnell Barnes of Natchez; one aunt, Catherine Chatman of Chicago; one uncle, Willie Hawkins of Chicago; two special friends, Jennifer and Dale Polk of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
