NATCHEZ - Services for Al "AJ" Thompson, Sr., 83, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Earnest Ford, Jr. officiating.
Burial will at 10 a.m. Tuesday as the the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mr. Thompson was born
Aug. 25, 1920, in Jefferson County, the son of Pendelton Thompson and Rosie L. Taylor.
He was educated in the Jefferson County Public School System, was retired from Feltus Brothers Hardware as a truck driver and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Al (Queen) Thompson, Jr. of Natchez; three sisters, Lee Ethel Thompson of Michigan, Willie M. Hibler of St. Louis and Joann Thompson of Natchez; one brother, Julius Thompson of Columbia, Mo.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
Matteal Gaines
FAYETTE - Services for Matteal Gaines, 91, of Fayette, who died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be held at noon Monday at the Kingdom Hall with Elder Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hollywood Baptist Church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Spencer Funeral Home in Fayette and from 11 a.m. to service time Monday at the Kingdom Hall.

NATCHEZ - Services for Arthur L. Turner Sr., 55, of Lancaster, Texas, who died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Charlton Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Paul A.M.E. with the Rev. John L. Quinn Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Turner was born
Jan. 25, 1949, in Wilkinson County, the son of James and Beatrice Turner.
He was a 1967 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson, served in the United States Armed Services and was retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Fleming-Turner of Lancaster, Texas; one son, Arthur Turner II; one daughter, Nichole Turner Williams and husband, Henry of Jackson; two brothers, James Turner Jr. of Lake Charles, La. and Jesse Ralph (Helen) Turner of Natchez; three sisters, Joann Turner-Clark of Natchez, Ardene (Melvin) Wright of Zachary, La. and Versia Turner of New Orleans, La.; two granddaughters, Zaria and Zoe Williams; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Clarence Arbuthnot, George Turner, Clarence Scott, Jimmie Jarvis, Johnell Jarvis and Willard Sims.

HAMBURG - Services for August Marshall Sr., 94, of Roxie, who died Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Franklin Memorial Hospital, will be at noon today at Bethlehem Church in Hamburg with the Rev. Carl Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Mr. Marshall was born
August 10, 1909, in Hamburg, the son of John Marshall and Hattie James Marshall.
He was retired from the sawmill, was a member of the U.S. Army and was a deacon at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sarah Marshall; four brothers, Jim Anderson, A.C. Marshall, Louis Marshall Sr. and Addis Marshall; two sisters, Vertis O'Gwin and Amanda Williams.
Survivors include son, August Marshall; granddaughters, Andrea T. Marshall Johnson (Walter) of Dupo, Ill. and Ashley E. Marshall of Hamburg; great grandson, Jaylan Johnson of Dupo, Ill.; nieces, Roberta Dyer, Dorothy Thompson, Barbara Marshall and Alice Jones, all of Natchez; nephews, Louis Marshall of Alexandria, La., Addis Marshall Jr., John Marshall and Rick Marshall, all of Natchez and Robert Earl Anderson of Natchez; special sons, Lee Thomas of Alexandria, La. and Tommy Felton of Smokey Mountain, Ga.

NATCHEZ - Services for Golda M. Tims, 82, of Vidalia, La., who died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Dan Glenn officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ms. Tims was born
Aug. 8, 1921, in Quitman, the daughter of M. M. McKinney and Margarite Evelyn Hurst McKinney.
She was employed with Medical Arts Pharmacy for 37 years.
Ms. Tims was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ann Deslatte a her mother, Evelyn Hurst Jones.
Survivors include granddaughters, Robin Miller Reynolds and husband, Philip of Rogers, Ark and Golda Dian Miller Lewis and husband, Jeff of Jackson; great-grandchildren, John Miller Reynolds and Philip Mason Reynolds, both of Rogers, Ark. and Emily Anne Lewis of Jackson.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

WOODVILLE - Services for Sidney Nettles, 84, of Crosby, who died Monday, May 31, 2004, at Villa Feliciana Hospital in Jackson, La., will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Corinth Church of Christ on Buffalo Road near Woodville with Brother Bernard Waites officiating.
Burial will follow in Enlow cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home Gloster.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Nettles was born
Jan. 12, 1920, in Wilkinson County, the son of John Fletcher Nettles and Elizabeth Oaks Nettles.
He was retired from Wilkinson County Road Dept., was a member of the Corinth Church of Christ and served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Nettles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice Lanehart Nettles; half brother, Jewel Anders; brothers, Bill Nettles, Clyde Nettles, and Morris Nettles.
Survivors include his step daughters, Linda Williams and Freddie of Woodville, Teresa Abrahamson and Dale of
Wakefield, La., Carmel Ross and Bob of Vidalia, Pearley Perry and Shad of Natchez; step son, Silas Lanehart and Lena of Crosby; step son in-law, Davis McDowell of Coles; one sister, Lessie Perkins of Denham Springs, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruby Mae Sullivan Wentworth
Jan. 13, 1909 - May 31, 2004 MEADVILLE - Services for Ruby Mae Sullivan Wentworth, 95, of Meadville, who died Monday, May 31, 2004, at Franklin County Memorial Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oak Grove Methodist Church in Meadville with the Rev. Jennings Boole and the Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wentworth was born
Jan. 13, 1909, in Franklin County, the daughter of Forrest Sullivan and Nancy King Sullivan.
She was co-owner of Dodge Auto Agency and was a member of Oak Grove Methodist church.
Mrs. Wentworth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Wentworth; one infant son; and five siblings.
Survivors include son, Harold Wentworth of Meadville; daughters, Nancy Corley of Natchez and Daisy Sue Cotten of Meadville; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Buster Corley, Greg Cotten, Hal Wentworth, Forrest Wentworth, Richard Pickett, Bart Jones and Joey Priest.
