FRANKLIN - Services for Carey Thomas Gerald, 88, of Franklin Co, who died Thursday, Mar. 4, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Bude with the Rev. Bobby Poole officiating.
Burial will be in Knoxville Methodist cemetery in Knoxville, MS under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation is from Noon to 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Gerald was born
Nov. 27, 1915, in Franklin County, the son of Thomas Brothers Gerald and Eunice Kirkland Gerald.
He was a offshore crewboat captain.
Mr. Gerald was preceded in death by his father and mother.
Survivors include four sisters, Ione Shell of Roxie, MS; Rosa Spell of Yazoo City, MS; Winnie Hewitt, Liberty, MS and Camille Reid, Vidalia, LA; one brother Howard Gerald, Temple TX; 2 stepdaughters, Nina Whitehead and Mary McGlothlin; and a host of niece, hephew, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Billy Nelson, William Reid Jr., Chris Illagan, Tommy Reid Jr., Randy Reid, Elmer Reid, James Whitehead, Robert Moorehouse.
Carol R. Nichol Guzy
March 6, 1933 - March 2, 2004
BALLWIN, MO - Services for Carol R. (Nichol) Guzy, 70, formerly of Natchez, who died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at her residence in Ballwin, MO, will be held at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL, Monday March 8, with the Rev. Patrick Kaveny officiating.
Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
She was born
March 6, 1933, in Collinsville, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, March 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Guzy was an outstanding community citizen during her years in Natchez, along with her husband, Raymond Guzy. She and her husband, Ray, were instrumental in the formation of the Natchez Retiree Partnership, which sought to attract retirees to relocate to Natchez. She and her husband distributed hundreds of Natchez promotional fliers during their frequent trips north. In addition, Mrs. Guzy and her husband volunteered in the Adams County Youth Court Adolescent Offender Program, mentoring troubled youths. She and Mr. Guzy also acted as greeters at the Natchez Visitor Reception Center and at periodic coffee hours sponsored by the Natchez Retiree Partnership. She was active in the Institute for Learning in Retirement, a social and educational group affiliated with Elderhostel. Mrs. Guzy was well known as a talented furniture restorer, and often taught restoration. She and Mr. Guzy attended St. Mary Basilica in Natchez. She and her husband were known for their unique birthday parties where they would give the gifts instead of receiving them. Also, she hand-made and gave away hundreds of cookies each Christmas season.
Survivors include her husband, four sons, Patrick Kaveny and his wife, Ienni, of Collinsville, IL; Timothy Kaveny of Oklahoma City, OK; John Guzy of St. Louis MO; and Ray Guzy and his wife, Sue, of Festus, MO; four daughters, Susy Althoff and her husband, Orville, of Fenton, MO; Susan Kaveny of Trenton, IL; Kathleen Hossain and husband, Shocut of Dallas, TX; and Jayne Guzy of St. Louis, MO; and a brother, Jim Nichol and his wife, Mary Ann, of Edwardsville, IL, and a number of grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also will be remembered by her adopted family in Natchez: G. Mark LaFrancis and his wife, Eileen Maher, and children Mark Maher LaFrancis, and Mary Maher LaFrancis.
George Byron Prince, Sr
Sept. 6, 1930 - Mar. 4, 2004
NATCHEZ - Services for George Byron Prince, Sr., who died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at his home, will be on Monday at First Lutherian Church in Natchez with Pastor William Gassett officiating.
Mr. Prince's body will be donated to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in accordance with his wishes.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. till Service time at 11 a.m at the church.
Mr. Prince was born
Sept. 6th, 1930 in Natchez, the son fo Captain Edward Hammett Prince and Inez Ricker Prince.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ginger Cotten Prince fo Natchez, two sons and daughter in laws, George Bryon Prince Jr and Julie H Prince of Natchez and James Michael Prince and Mary Williams Prince of Hickory, NC; a brother and sister in law Edward and Patricia Prince of Natchez; five grandchildren, Bryon Allen Prince and Ashley Anne Prince of Natchez and Mary Amelia "Amy" Prince, Michael Cotten Prince, and Caroline Grace Prince of Hickory, NC. He also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, and good friends.
He served in the United States Navy in Korea, and later graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelors degree in Business Administration.
Mr. Prince worked for Armco National Supply and later retired from David New Oil Company. After his retirement he continued to work-even until the day of his death for Jordan Auto & Hall's Motor Company.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Luterian Church, Natchez, Blair Batson Children's wing at University Hospital, Jackson, MS or the charity of choice.
Lillie Mae Fleming Wardley Lee

BUDE - Services for Lillie Mae Fleming Wardley Lee, 86, of Bude, who died Tueday, Mar. 2, 2004, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at New Bethel M.B. Church in Monroe, MS with the Rev. Willie Smoot officiating.
Burial will be in the New Bethel Missonary Baptist Church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation is from Noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lee was born
July 4, 1917, in Oldenburg, MS, the daughter of Robert and Mary Liza Scott Fleming.
She was president of the Church mission, a mother of the church, member of the church choir, member of the order of the eastern star and the NAACP.
Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters, two brothers, one grandson.
Survivors include eight children; Julius (Lillie) Wardley, William Wardley, Jr of Memphis, TN; Gloria Lee, San Jose, CA; Dorothy Stallworth of Menlo Park, CA; Stellare (Freddie) Griffin of Mt. View, CA; Sarah Lee of Bude, MS; Billy (Renee) Lee of San Jose, CA; Diane (Rowan) Winston of Harvey, LA; Ruby Chaney of New Orleans, Brother Monroe Fleming of New Orleans, 24 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 23 great-great grandchildren.
Albert William Stark
NATCHEZ - Services for Albert William Stark, 70, of Ferriday, LA, who died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Randy Coleman and the Rev. C.D. Beard officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Young's Funeral Home Ferriday.
He was an oil field worker and a member of Westside Baptist Church.
Elva Mathis Eidt

NATCHEZ - Services for Elva Mathis Eidt, 94, of Jackson formerly of Natchez, who died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. James E. Herndon officiating.
Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Eidt was born
Feb. 14, 1910, at Darrington in Wilkinson County, the daughter of Charles Gibson and Emma Eugenia Schugard Mathis.
She retired after working 40 years as a Bell South telephone operator. Mrs. Eidt was a long time member of Jefferson Street United Methodist Church of Natchez. She resided in Natchez for approximately 70 years and moved to Jackson in 1985.
Mrs. Eidt was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Aikman Eidt; one brother, Charles Elmo Mathis; two sisters, Marion Mathis Darsey and Geneva Mathis Mussey.
Survivors include daughter, Elva Ruth Downing and son-in-law, Neil of Jackson; granddaughter, Ruth Ellen Lagos and husband, Alexander; sister, Maude Mathis Bonham of Vancleave; sister-in-law, Bonnie Mae Mathis of Hurley; and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Edward "Ed" Dixon Sr.

NATCHEZ - Services for Edward "Ed" Dixon Sr., 56, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at noon Saturday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Smoot officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of R.D. Mackel and Sons.
The processional will leave at 11:15 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home.
Visitation is from noon to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Dixon was born
Jan. 8, 1948, in Mississippi, the son of Roosevelt McCoy and Ruby Griffin.
He was a retired truck driver with Road Co. Transportation.
Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt McCoy; his wife, Thelma L. Dixon; grandparent, Lizzie and Robert Dixon; sister, Ruby Scott; and a stepfather, Johnnie Griffin.
Survivors include his mother, Ruby Griffin of Natchez; three sons, Edward Dixon Jr., Tremayne (Tyrease) Dixon and Enricon Dixon, all of Chicago, IL; three daughters, Chrischon Dixon, Caitlin Dixon and Erianna Dixon, all of Chicago; two sisters, Betty (John) Logan and Dorothy (Kenneth) Jenkins, all of Natchez; two brothers, Elmer (Daisy) Dixon of Washington and Walter Griffin of Natchez; uncle, James (Mary) Griffin of Natchez; aunts, Martha (Tom) Jones, Ethel Malone and Dorothy Griffin, all of Chicago; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Ms. Cannon was born
Sept. 22, 1944, in Bogue Chitto, the daughter of Charles and Winnie Cannon.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting.
Ms. Cannon was preceded in death by her father, Charles Cannon; her mother, Winnie Cannon; two brothers, Charlie Cannon and Terry Dale; one son, Jackie Cannon.
Survivors include one daughter, Monique Cannon Ware; five sisters, Elaine Ramsey, Dixie Boyd, Lynda Roberts, Rosemary Hocker and Audrey Dickerson; three sons, Joey Cannon, Anthony Plaisance and Richie Maquin; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Walter Lee Burt
BRANDON - Services for Walter Lee Burt, 59, who died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at his residence in Brandon, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon.
Burial will be in Rosemont Gardens under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home, Inc.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Burt was a native of Adams County and a resident of Rankin County since 1987. He was the owner and operator of Burt's Masterbend Muffler in Brandon. He was an avid fisherman and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Burt of Brandon; daughter, Tracy Morrow and husband, Sam of Brandon; son, Kelvin Burt and wife, Melissa of Brandon; father, Jewel Lee Burt of Natchez; sisters, Charlene Burt of Natchez and Joyce Walker of Sicily Island, LA; brother, Ronnie Burt of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Kayla Morrow, Ryan and Kaylee Burt.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.
Mrs. Cavin was born
Dec. 23, 1933, in Natchez, the daughter of Harrell W. and Bess Holden Bahin Parsons Sr.
She married
Clarence C. Cavin Jr. on June 6, 1959. She was a housewife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Cavin was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Harrell W. Parsons Jr.; and a nephew, H.W. Parsons III.
Survivors include two sons, John W. Cavin and wife, Rhonda and Dan C. Cavin Sr., all of Natchez; grandchildren, Emily Cavin, Beth Cavin, Daniel Cavin and Rebecca Cavin, all of Natchez; sister-in-law, Myrtie Hunter; special friends, Eydie and Kristina Eubanks; and a number of other friends and relatives.
Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy Neely, J.E. Smith, John Anders, Dr. Walter Dawkins and Jeff Joiner.
