HARVEY, IL - Services for Leandro L. Dixon Sr., 76, of Markham, IL, who died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, were held at 11 a.m. March 15, 2004 at W.W. Holt Funeral Home in Harvey, IL.

Burial was in Abraham Lincoln National cemetery under the direction W.W. Holt Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Dixon; children, Leandro Jr, Garmon Sr., Ronald Sr., Linda and Kenneth; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Cortez; and sister, Mary Ida.

Elizabeth Duengain Turner

June 27, 1925 - March 12, 2004

LORMAN - Services for Elizabeth Duengain Turner, 78, of Lorman, who died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at Rose Hill Christian Church in Lorman with Elder Walter Chambers officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home Fayette.

Mrs. Turner was born icon June 27, 1925, in Jefferson County, the daughter of George Duengain and Susie Banks.

She was a homemaker and a seamtress and was a member of Rose Hill Christian Church. She was past matron (Heroines of Jericho), was a mother and youth teacher at quarterly meetings at Rose Hill.

Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, John Turner Sr.; parents; one sister, Katherine Hall; one brother, Ruben Walton.

Survivors include six sons, John Turner Jr. of Lorman, Jonathan (Claudette) Turner of Fayette, Aaron (Erica) Turner of Montgomery, AL, Eddie Charles Turner of Lorman, Melvin (Ruby) Turner Sr. of Fayette and Earl Lee Turner of Grand Prairie, TX; three daughters, Martha Lee Turner Dyer of Cleveland, Johnnie Ruth (John) Turner Stewart of Cleveland and Delores Turner of Lorman; three brothers, George Duengain Jr. of St. Louis, MO, Wilson Walton of Jackson, James Walton of Jackson; three sisters, Emma J. Singletary, Carrie M. Singletary and Annie Laura Stroman, all of Brooklyn, NY; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Dyer, Eric Turner, C.M. Dyer III, Reginald Turner, Jeffery Stewart and Cedric Turner.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Turner, Jonathan Turner, Aaron Turner, Eddie Charles Turner, Melvin Turner Sr. and Earl Lee Turner.

William Green Sr.

May 10, 1945 - March 12, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for William Green Sr., 58, of Natchez, who died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at noon Thursday at Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Sr. officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Mr. Green was born icon May 10, 1945, in Adams County, the son of the late Junius and Augustine Green and Willie Granger.

He was educated at Anchorage Jr. High School, was retired from John Quinn Logging as a heavy equipment mechanic and was retired from Diamond International after 17 years of service. Mr. Green was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley J. Green; two sons, William (Shanita) Green of Natchez and Thomas Dunbar of Jackson; three daughters, Renee L. Green, Sonja (Edward) Ford of Natchez and Ernestine L. Dunbar of Jackson; five grandchildren; mother-in-law, Katie R. Dunbar; four sisters, Willie Mae Jackson, Leola Burkhart of Natchez, Cassie (Henry) Ransom of Tyler, TX, Rose Mary Granger of South Bend, IN; 11 brothers, Junius Green of Oklahoma, Wayne Green, Robert Earl Green, Melvin (Pam) Green, all of Natchez, James K. Green of Woodville, Thomas Granger, Larry Granger, Willie Granger, all of Birmingham, AL, Charles Granger of Ferriday, LA and Kelvin Granger of Los Angeles, CA and Edward (Karen) Green of Natchez; three sisters-in-law, Emma Dunbar, Tammy Ridley of Natchez and Dorothy Minor of North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Dunbar Jr. of Natchez and John (Stephanie) Dunbar of Gautier; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Edward Ford, Joseph Dunbar III, James Coleman, Jerry Allen, Dwayne Allen, Jamie Allen and Elbert Green.

Christine Palmer

Jan. 6, 1921 - March 14, 2004

ARKANSAS - Services for Christine Palmer, 83, of Camden, AR formerly of El Dorado, AR, who died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Young's Chapel in El Dorado with the Rev. Clay Hale officiating.

Burial will be in Crossroads cemetery in Quachita County, AR under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors of El Dorado.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Palmer was born icon Jan. 6, 1921, in Union County, AR, the daughter of W.T. Ray Sr. and Claudia Adams Ray.

She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Bible Baptist Church.

Mrs. Palmer was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Tracy Palmer; parents; daughter, Sonja Jamison; brother, W.T. Ray Jr.

Survivors include sons, Charles Palmer of Natchez, Daniel Palmer of Farmington, ME, Paul Palmer of El Dorado, AR and John Palmer of Camden, AR; daughter, Cheryl Lowery of El Dorado; sisters, Tommy Baker and Faye Evans of El Dorado; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Harry Howard Jr.

Funeral arrangements for Harry Howard Jr., 61, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at his residence, are incomplete at George F. West Funeral Home.

Holmes H. Jefcoat

LAUREL - Services for Holmes H. Jefcoat, 82, of Hebron Community, who died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel with the Rev. Mark Garvis and the Rev. Tommy Davis officiating.

Burial will be in Hebron cemetery in Jones County under the direction of Memory Chapel.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church, was a mason and a member of the Hebron Masonic Lodge No. 515 and the V.F.W. Alex Box Post 11. In 1942, Mr. Jefcoat enlisted in the United States Navy and served in World War II in the South Pacific until September 1945. After his discharge from the Navy, he was employed by John Mansville Corp. working in Jarrett, VA, Natchez, Alexander and Indiana for 30 years. He retired in August 1976 returning to his home in Jones County.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Virginia Jefcoat of Hebron Community; two sons, Thomas Jefcoat and his wife, Constance of Springdale, AR and Allen Jefcoat of Baton Rouge, LA; a daughter, Janice Shoemaker and her husband, Gary Shoemaker of Laurel; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jason Romero, Eddie Shoemaker, Shannon Kilgore, Mark Ray, Vidal Jefcoat, Robbie Shoemaker and Roland Wingo.

Vann Clayton McCranie

July 19, 1956 -- March 12, 2004

NATCHEZ -- Memorial services for Vann Clayton McCranie, 47, of Natchez, who died Friday, March 12, 2004, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trace City Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Holland officiating.

Mr. McCranie was born icon July 19, 1956, in Natchez, the son of Leroy and Phyllis Jean Smith McCranie.

Mr. McCranie was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include daughters, Shannon McCranie of Natchez and Wanda Price of Wesson; sons, Anthony McCranie of Natchez and Jason McCranie of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren; mother, Phyllis Jean McCranie of Natchez; brothers, Roger McCranie and Charles McCranie, both of Natchez; sister, Marilyn Masters of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.

LORMAN -- Funeral arrangements for Elizabeth Turner, 78, of Lorman, who died at Natchez Regional Hospital on Friday, March 12, 2004, are incomplete at Rollins Funeral Home.

Roy Lee Tharp

NATCHEZ -- Graveside services for Roy Lee Tharp, 70, of Natchez, who died Friday, March 12, 2004 at Natchez Community Hospital, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 15 at Greenlawn Memorial Park cemetery.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home on Union Street.

Addis C. Watson Jr.

Sept. 5, 1927 - March 5, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Addis C. Watson Jr., 76, of Natchez, who died Friday, March 5, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Zion Chapel AME Church with the Rev. Arthur Brown officiating.

Burial will be in McCabe cemetery in Lorman under the direction of R.D. Mackel and Sons.

Visitation is from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Watson was born icon Sept. 5, 1927, in Natchez, the son of Addis C. Watson Sr. and Mattiel Fowler Watson.

He was self-employed, owner of Watson Upholstery Shop and was a member of Zion Chapel AME Church where he served as an usher for over fifty years. He was also a trustee for the church.

Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma Clark Watson; and a son, Vincent Watson.

Survivors include daughter, Mattiel Watson Swanson of Los Angeles, CA; three sons, Mark Watson of Waachie, TX, Kenneth (Mary) Watson of Natchez and Lionel (Linda) Smith of Derrider, LA; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Watson of Dallas, TX; one uncle, Sidney (Mary) Fowler of Lafayette, LA; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Charlie Stevenson

Jan. 10, 1908 - March 10, 2004

ROXIE - Services for Charlie Stevenson, 96, of Roxie, who died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Franklin County Hospital in Meadville, will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Roxie First Baptist Church with Brother Keith Shumaker officiating.

Burial will be at Red Hill cemetery in Choctaw County under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home of Fayette.

Mr. Stevenson was the son of the late Eddie Lee and Eliza Stevenson.

Mr. Stevenson was preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.

He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Bobbie Harris of Roswell, GA and Annie (Edward) Lyles of Sibley; four grandchildren, Keith (Kimberly) Shumaker of Longview, TX, Charles Stevenson of Natchez, Scottie Apple White of Memphis and Michelle Harris of Roswell; one son, Kenneth Rowan of Fayette; four god-daughters, Mattie (Bennie) Covington, Verena Hunt, all of Roxie, Debra Coulston of Natchez and Johnnie (Tony) Gibbs of Bude; two god-sons, Bill Hunt (Bettye) and Dennis Hunt of Roxie; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Bessie Jarvis Jones

July 15, 1901 - March 11, 2004

WOODVILLE - Services for Bessie Jarvis Jones, 102, of Woodville, who died Thursday, March 11, 2004, in Woodville, will be at noon Saturday at Kingford Baptist Church in Woodville with the Rev. Allen Scott officiating.

Burial will be in Jackson cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.

Ms. Jones was born icon July 15, 1901, in Woodville, the daughter of Peter Jarvis and Lucy Jarvis.

She was retired and a member of Kingford Baptist Church.

Ms. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include four nieces and three nephews.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Frederick Lawrence "Dan" Cole

May 14, 1968 - March 10, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Frederick Lawrence "Dan" Cole, 35, of Jackson, who died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at his residence in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Mike Bonner officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Cole was born icon May 14, 1968, in Natchez, the son of Frederick Lawrence Cole and Elizabeth A. Kisner.
