GLOSTER - Services for Lane Arnold, 73, of Crosby, who died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Gloster with the Rev. Bobby Seal and the Rev. Jackie Moulder officiating.

Burial will be in Hopewell cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Arnold was born icon July 23, 1930, in Amite County, the son of Hewitt Arnold and Vernie Jackson Arnold.

He was retired from International Paper Company in Natchez, where he worked as a finishing operator. He was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Merrit Crum Arnold of Crosby; one daughter, Delane Terrell and husband, Alan of Crosby; one son, Leroy Arnold and wife, Wanda of Crosby; three granddaughters, Ellen Terrell, Kayla Arnold and Kelly Arnold, all of Crosby; and a number of nieces, nephews, in-laws and special friends.

Mattie L. Holland Ezell

May 2, 1928 - Dec. 30, 2003

BUDE - Services for Mattie L. Holland Ezell, 75, of Meadville, who died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at her residence, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bude Church of God Church with the Revs. Jean Holland, Boyd Beech, S.R. Martin and George Guy officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. Friday until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Ezell was born icon May 2, 1928, in Franklin County, the daughter of William J. Touchstone and Mamie Bell Lee Touchstone.

She was a retired seamstress and a member of Bude Church of God.

Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Ezell of Meadville; one son, Jerry Holland and wife, Mary of Meadville; three brothers, Homer Touchstone of Meadville, Grady T. Touchstone of Lake Charles, LA and Joe-Joe Touchstone of Liberty; three sisters, Willie Mae Cater of Meadville, Pauline Clark and Joyce Howard of Lake Charles, LA; four grandchildren, Jerry Wayne and Pam Holland, Greg and Dana Holland, all of Eddiceton, Melody and Bill Stein of Brandon and Tanya and Brad Foster of Meadville; and eight grandchilren.

Christopher Bourdin

A mass will be held in memory of Christopher Bourdin at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004 at St. Mary Basilica in Natchez. Friends and family are welcome to attend.

Albert Donald Covington

Dec. 12, 1919 - March 29, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Albert Donald Covington, 84, of Natchez, who died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Burial will follow at Fayette City cemetery.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Covington was born icon Dec. 12, 1919, in Natchez, the son of Albert Luther and Ruby Wadsworth Covington.

He was a graduate of Natchez High School. Mr. Covington was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of World War II.

Mr. Covington was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Montgomery Covington and a son, Michael Norris Covington.

Survivors include son, Don Covington of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Adam Covington and Hillary Covington Szalay; great-grandchildren, Aimee Covington, Audrey Covington and Abby Covington.

Ann Hall Bradshaw

Aug. 5, 1915 - March 28, 2004

NATCHEZ - Private graveside services for Ann Hall Bradshaw, 88, of Shreveport, LA, who died Sunday, March 28, 2004, in Keithville, LA, was held at 11 a.m. March 30 at Greenlawn cemetery.

Burial followed under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Ms. Bradshaw was born icon Aug. 5, 1915, in Bay Minette, AL.

Survivors include one son, William Marvin Hall and wife, Karen of Metairie, LA; one daughter, Jerry Ann Hall Erwin of Shreveport; four grandchildren.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Clifford Tillman for his many years of dedication and to special friends for their concern and support.

Geneva King

April 7, 1928 - March 15, 2004

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Services for Geneva King of New York, who died Monday, March 15, 2004, was held at 7 p.m. March 26 at St. Joseph of the Holy Family in New York where the Rev. Phillip Kelly officiated.

Burial was in Fairlawn cemetery in Fairlawn, N.J. under the direction of Bailey's Funeral Home of New York.

Ms. King was born icon April 7, 1928, in Natchez, the daughter of the late Ellen and Norman King.

She attended school in Natchez until she moved to New York City in 1950. In New York, she was employed by several families as a Home Health Aide.

Ms. King was preceded in death by her brothers, Henry, Norman and Robert King of New Orleans, LA.

Survivors include son, Freddie King of New York City; sister, Leona Pettis of Natchez; five nieces, Geneva Williams, Jennie Banks and Lorraine Jones, all of Los Angeles, CA, Geraldine Jones of Dallas, TX and Jennie Griffen of Natchez; four nephews, Rev. Danny Baker of Houston, TX, Albert Jones of Florida, Issac and Lionell Jones of Natchez; and a number of cousins.

Flora Mae Posey

Dec. 16, 1912 - March 30, 2004

JEFFERSON COUNTY - Services for Flora Mae Posey, 91, of Union Church, who died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Union Church Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Damascus Baptist Church cemetery in Franklin County under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Miss Posey was born icon Dec. 16, 1912, in Lucien, the daughter of Irvin Lee Posey and Alda Armitta Rodriquez Posey.

She was educated at Piedmont School in Jefferson County, Jefferson County Agricultural High School, Union Church Basic Nursing at Mississippi Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Jackson and from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, TX. She was an R.N. who also taught nursing and was a member of Union Church Baptist Church.

Miss Posey was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Haskel Posey; sister-in-law, Jessie Posey; sisters, Welma Laine Posey, Allie Lee Posey; and brother, Dempsey Felice Posey.

Survivors include sisters-in-law, Winnie Maude Posey of Meadville and Mary Ruth Posey of Union Church; brother, Lorenzo Dow Posey of Union Church; nephews, Glenn Posey of Florida, Ken Posey of Jackson, Senator Lynn Posey and Robin Posey of Union Church; nieces, Marilyn Weeks of Union Church and Martha Ann Dickey of Meadville; great nephews and nieces, William "Trey" Dickey III of Natchez, Haley Dickey of Baton Rouge, LA, Hunter Posey, Kaitlyn Posey and Chris Weeks of Union Church, Claire Weeks of Starkville, Mindy Gilbert of Crystal Springs, Makayla Gilbert, Morgan Gilbert, Megan Gilbert and Dempsey Gilbert, all of Crystal Springs, Clay Posey and Emily Posey of Union Church.

Wanda Oneida Williams Bonner

LOUISIANA - Services for Wanda Oneida Williams Bonner, 82, of Fort Necessity, LA, who died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Richardson Medical Center Rayville, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Jigger Apostolic Church with the Rev. Howard Childs and the Rev. Hurby Hitt officiating.

Burial will be in Boeuf Prairie Methodist Church cemetery under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home Winnsboro.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Alva Mae Middleton Davis

April 8, 1925 - March 26, 2004

NATCHEZ - Services for Alva Mae Middleton Davis, 78, of Natchez, who died Friday, March 26, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at George F. West Funeral Home Chapel with Father McKinney officiating.

Burial will be in the Natchez National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Davis was born icon April 8, 1925, in Adams County, the daughter of Willie and Josephine Middleton.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include four sons, Donald Davis of Natchez, Eddie Davis of Jackson, John Davis of Austin, TX and William Davis of Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Elma Johnson of Natchez; 10 grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Theresa Lewis of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Joseph Newton

Funeral arrangements for Joseph Newton, 74, of Natchez, who died Monday, March 28, 2004, at the University Medical Center in Jackson, are incomplete at George F. West Funeral Home.

Rev. James E. Watts

MORTON - Services for Rev. James E. Watts, 75, who died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Scott Regional Hospital in Morton, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Springfield Baptist Church with the Rev. Frank Lay, the Rev. S. B. Boyette, the Rev. Holmes Carlisle and the Rev. Jay Brister officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Morton.

He was a native of Brookhaven and had been a resident of Morton for the past 16 years. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church. Rev. Watts was a graduate of William Carey College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. After a college career he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He surrendered to the ministry in 1957 and retired in 1998, having served 41 years prior to retiring. During these years he served churches in Louisiana and Mississippi and retired at Branch Baptist Church in Morton. He remained active in preaching at area churches when possible and still doing God's will in his life. He was an active member of the V.F.W. Post #5586 at Morton. He enjoyed and loved the fellowship with his fellow V.F.W. members. He also enjoyed attending sporting events with his family and friends. His great loves in life were his family, ministry of the gospel, and sports.

Survivors include his wife, Winifred "Winnie" Watts of Morton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Estelle Watts of Pearl and David and Shelia Watts of Morton; one sister, Dorothy Pickering of Natchez; one brother, A. C. Watts of Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren, Amy and Eric Watts of Pearl, Alex and Jeremy Watts of Morton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Danny Watts, John Henderson, Joel Henderson, Lamar Burkes, Truman Manning and Bruce Clifford.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the V.F.W. Post #5586 at Morton.

Ruby Skidmore Forbess

NATCHEZ - Services for Ruby Skidmore Forbess, 97, of Macon, formerly of Natchez, will be at 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Judson W. Hurt officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Forbess was born icon April 26, 1906, in Oktibbeha County, the daughter of William A. and Katie Eddie Quinn Skidmore.

She owned and operated the Home Bakery of 25 years and was affectionately known as "Miss Ruby". She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Forbess was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert H. Forbess; a brother, Eckford Skidmore; a sister, Ola Mae Skidmore Nickels; a brother-in-law, Otto Nickels; a niece, Mary Agnes Nickels; her step-father, Oscar P. Thompson; and two daughters-in-law, Edna W. Woodson and Sarah Woodson.

Survivors include two sons, Eddie Forbess of Natchez and Randall Woodson of Macon; one granddaughter, Karen Hill and husband, Lowell of Macon; four grandsons, Jim Woodson and wife, Ann of Jackson, Paul Forbess of Littleton, CO, David R. Forbess and wife, Stephanie of Hayesville, NC and Edward A. Forbess of New Mexico; three great-grandsons, Randy Woodson and Ben Woodson of Jackson and Derek Hill of Macon; two great-granddaughters, Kelly Hill of Macon and Sarah Forbess of Cordova, TN; four nephews, Billy Ward Nickels of Maben, Rev. Carl Nickels and wife, Glenda of Mathiston, Charles Nickels and wife, Sarah of Maben and Don Taylor of Macon, TN; one niece, Nell Kyle of Columbus; one sister-in-law, Betty Taylor.

Pallbearers will be David R. Forbess, Jim Woodson, Lowell Hill, Randy Woodson, Ben Woodson and Billy Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Walter Dawkins and Lloyd Ridings.
