MEADVILLE - Services for Clarence Causey Jr., 66, of Meadville, who died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Grove Community Church with the Rev. Cleveland Whalum officiating.
Burial will be at the church cementery under the direction of Williams and Williams Funeral Home.
Raymond J. Gordon
March 5, 1947 -- December 12, 2003
LOS ANGELES -- Services for Raymond J. Gordon, 56, of Los Angeles and formerly of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, were at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19 at Spalding LaBrea Chapel in Los Angeles with Deacon Willard Hall officiating. Burial followed at Roosevelt Memorial Park in Gardena, Calif.
Mr. Gordon was born
March 5, 1947 in Natchez to Henry and Barbara Odom Gordon.
He attended St. Francis Catholic School in Natchez and was baptized at the Holy Family Catholic Church.
He later moved to Los Angeles, where he graduated form Fremont High School in June 1965.
Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Henry.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara O. Gordon, two aunts and three uncles, Elizabeth O. Young, Joe Young of Natchez, Dorothy Odom Rowan of Los Angeles, Effie Hinton of Chicago and Pete Odom of Los Angeles, a special friend for many years, Clara Carter and a host of cousins and friends.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Jenkins, Paul McMorris, Herman Brown, Dewey Green, Gerry Davis and Mitch Saucier and honorary pallbearer M. Frazier.
Priscilla Biron
NATCHEZ -- A memorial celebration service for Priscilla Biron, 68, who died on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, will be held at Pleasant Acre Day School on at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday.
The Rev. Zabron Davis of Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate. PADS students will participate. Friends are invited.
Priscilla, daughter of the late Gilbert and Gladys Biron of Natchez, is survived by two sisters; Lorna Case and her husband Audley of Natchez and Millett Cuthbertson and her husband, William of Lake Concordia; two nieces, Biron Marie Wood and Audley Nugent; three nephews, William and Andrew Cuthbertson and Biron Case; two grandnephews, Coats Wood and Rudy Nugent; and a grand-niece, Brianne Nugent.
Priscilla's life revolved around family. Especially close were associates at Pleasant Acre Day School. She was a member of the Episcopal Church with an inspired faith in God's will.
To know Priscilla was to love her -- to be her friend was to be uplifted!

Robert Earl "Legs" Henderson

NATCHEZ -- Services for Robert Earl "Legs" Henderson, 59, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004 at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Covington Road Church of Christ with Brother Vincent Hawkins officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez National cemetery with George F. West Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at West Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church on Monday.
Mr. Henderson was born
Oct. 10, 1944 in Lincoln County, the son of Leroy Henderson and Lettie Mae Hughes. He was employed at Armstrong Rubber and Tire Co. and later International Paper until his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Henderson and Lettie Mae Hughes.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Henderson; four daughters, Wanda (Rodney) Harris of Richland, Nickie L. Mosby, Andrea L. Johnson and Nikkarius R. Henderson, all of Natchez; three sons, Robert E. (Yolanda) Henderson III, Joseph I. Henderson and Quincy Henderson; three sisters, Thelma L. Wilson of Twenty-nine Palms, Calif., Mary L. (Kenneth) Tilliage of Baton Rouge, La. and Joyce Wilson of Los Angeles; three grandchildren, Lenita S. Henderson, Ryan A. Elliot and Kirklyn D. Harris; one godchild, Wilshanda (Kevin) Williams of Montgomery, Ala.; a close nephew, Keith Tilliage; a close cousin, Charles Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be the 412th Engineering Command -- Master Sgt. Kenya Emebry, Master Sgt. Leonard Blake, Master Sgt. James Reynolds, Sgt. First Class James Walker, Sgt. First Class Alster Watters and Staff Sgt. Bobby Clark and honorary pallbearers will be members of the family.
Dlynn Braswell
Aug. 5, 1938 - Jan. 7, 2004
NATCHEZ - A memorial service for Dlynn Braswell, 65, of Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. today at Parkway Baptist Church with Pastor Bart Walker officiating.
Mr. Braswell was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Gregg Braswell; his father, Elmer Braswell; one sister, Mary Katherine Braswell.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Jamison Braswell of Natchez; his children, Brad Braswell of Jackson and Cervinia Braswell of Memphis, TN; his grandchildren, Caroline Braswell Lowe, Kelsey Lowe and Lindsay Lowe of Natchez; one brother, Randy Braswell of Magnolia; three sisters, Yvonne Jackson of Minden, LA, Yvette McCabe of Baton Rouge, LA and Pattye Braswell of Summit; and a number of nieces and nephews; and longtime pet companion, Molly Braswell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be sent to the Natchez Children's Home, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Fulton Jackson "Jack" Lowe
KOSCIUSKO - Services for Fulton Jackson "Jack" Lowe, 77, a retired real estate agent and former owner of Lowe Realty, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at his residence, will be at 10 a.m. today at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. today at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Union Church under the direction of Jordan Funeral Home of Kosciusko.
Mr. Lowe was a member of the New Life Center, the American Legion Post #44, and the Full Gospel Business Men's Association. He wrote a weekly Christian message, "Span the World for Christ Ministries" in numerous newspapers. He was a real estate agent for McCaughan and Pruitt Realty in Brandon. Mr. Lowe served in the US Airforce during the Korean War.
Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Lowe and Bessie Fulton Lowe.
Survivors include his son, Mark West Lowe of Brookhaven; daughter, Mitzi Hankins of Natchez; brother, Kenneth Lowe of Kosciusko; sister, Ouida Elliot of Kosciusko; four grandchildren, Lindsay Leigh Hankins, Adam William Hankins, Benjamin West Lowe, and Justin Marcus Lowe; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the New Life Center, Veterans Memorial Drive, Kosciusko.
Raymond Vernon Sturrup
Jan. 14, 1919 - Jan. 7, 2004
FOREST - Services for Raymond Vernon Sturrup, 84, of Forest, who died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest, will be at 1 p.m. today at Forest United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Harperville cemetery in Harperville under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest.
Mr. Sturrup was born
Jan. 14, 1919, in Hampstead, Long Island, N.Y.
He lived in Nassau, Bahamas from 1927 to 1937, where he graduated from Francis Exavier Academy. He later returned to the USA where he resided in Miami, FL until joining the Army and servicing five years during WWII. Upon discharge from the Army, he returned to Miami and entered the construction business with his father. Ray moved to Forest in the early 1950's and founded Fred's Discount stores along with his brother-in-law, Paul Baddour, Sr. Mr. Sturrup served as colonel on the staff of Governor Ross Barnett, the advisory committee to the A & I board, past president of the Forest Chamber of Commerce, and the Parents Association of Ellisville State School and Boswell Parents Association. He served 32 years and two terms as president of the East Central Mississippi Development District and he was a board member of the Baddour Center since its inception. Mr. Sturrup was a member of the Forest Lion's Club for over 50 years, serving as president and recipient of the coveted Melvin Jones Award, the highest achievement to be awarded for service in Lionism. He was involved in the church in many mission trips to the Caribbean and Central America in conjunction with the Baptist Medical and Dental Mission. Mr. Sturrup was a member of the Forest United Methodist Church since 1950, serving on the administrative board and various committees. He enjoyed singing in the choir and being a member of the Beaman Triplett Sunday School class and his daily Men's Coffee Group. Mr. Sturrup was also a talented wood carver and he retired from Fred's Discount Stores in 1976.
Mr. Sturrup was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Madge Sturrup; his wife, Narvelle Sturrup; his daughter, Peggy Sturrup; and his sisters, Muriel Hicks and Barbara Gilbert.
Survivors include two sons, Frank Sturrup and Mike Sturrup, both of Forest; two daughters, Margy Graham of Natchez and Betty Stephens of Clanton, AL; brother, Ralph Sturrup of Miami, FL; sister, Joan Webster of Satellite Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Kirk Graham of San Antonio, TX, Brent Graham and wife, Vanessa of Baton Rouge, LA, Bron Stephens and wife, Stacy of Gardendale, AL and Shelley Stephens of Clanton, AL; and a number of other family and friends.
Memorials may be made to Forest United Methodist Church.
Tullie Poole Havard

KINGSTON - Services for Tullie Poole Havard, 74, of Natchez, who died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kingston United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lou Knighton officiating.
Burial will be in Kingston cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Mr. Havard was born
April 14, 1929, in Amite County, the son of Tully Clifton and Euna Belle Poole Havard.
He was a member of the Kingston United Methodist Church.
Mr. Havard was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and his son, Johnny Havard.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Havard of Natchez; daughters, Edie Cavallas and husband, Joel of Bradenton, FL and Janet Arceneaux and husband, Jean of Natchez; six grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; sisters, Julia Mae McIlwain of Natchez and Freddie Rose Coleman of Liberty; brother, Billy Ray Havard of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be Joel Cavallas, Jean Arceneaux, Cliff Lazarus, George Bunch, Glynn Coleman and John Gamberi.
Rev. Charlie Newman

NATCHEZ - Services for the Rev. Charlie Newman, 73, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Southwest Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor Samuel Hines officiating.
Burial will be in Veterans cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.
Rev. Newman was born
Feb. 11, 1930, the son of John Newman, Sr. and Stella Brown Newman.
He was a high school and college graduate, was employed by Armstrong Rubber and was a Baptist.
Rev. Newman was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Newman; five sisters, Pearline Bivens, Lucille Stewart, Mary Easton, Charity Kimble and Harriet Grey; five brothers, Robert, Carney, Dan, Matt and Walter Newman.
Survivors include one brother, John Newman, Jr.; one sister, Augusta Malbrough (Roger); one special niece, Pearl Woodall; three step-sons, Harry Smith (Jean), Harold Smith (Shirley) and J.P. Smith (Velma); one step-daughter, Gwen Singleton; and a number of other family and friends.

Mr. Floyd was born
Oct. 6, 1932, in Waverly, LA, the son of Harvey Monroe and Nancy Louise Taylor Floyd, Sr.
Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; sons, James Floyd, Jr. and David Floyd; daughter, Marsha Moore; brothers, Monroe Floyd, Bobby Floyd and David Floyd.
Survivors include wife, Shirley Floyd of Natchez; children, Beverly Gatlin and husband, George of Rome, GA, Joyce Velasquez of Vidalia, LA, Randy Floyd and wife, Laura of Natchez, Brenda Davis and husband, Robert of Piercey, AR, Scottie Floyd and wife, Tina and Tammy Tatum and husband, Jr., all of Natchez; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Lewis of Ferriday, LA and Margie Williamson of Delta Point, LA; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Charles Norman Griffin, Sr.

NATCHEZ - Services for Charles Norman Griffin, Sr., 61, of Vidalia, LA, who died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at River Regional Hospital in Vicksburg, will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Mr. Griffin was born
Oct. 15, 1942, in Adams County, the son of Wade Griffin and Alberta Williams.
He was educated at Sadie V. Thompson High School, was retired from Natchez Adams County Port as a forklift operator and was a member and deacon at Pilgrim Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Julia Mae Griffin; three sons, Charles N. (Melissa) Griffin, Jr. of Jonesville, LA, Tyrone (Leshia) Griffin of Ridgecrest, LA and Emmanuel Griffin of Vidalia; one daughter, Julia (Leslie) Reynolds of Natchez; two sisters, Deloris Stumps and Vera Williams, both of Natchez; 10 grandchildren; mother-in-law, Eliza Johnson of Natchez; three sisters-in-law, Deloris Robinson, Helen (Gerald) Jackson and Wanda (Alton) Ceasor, all of Natchez; five brothers-in-law, Richard Robinson of New Orleans, LA, Leslie (Shirley) Robinson, Jerome Robinson, Kenney (La June) Robinson and Arthur Robinson, all of Natchez; one god son, Antonia Robinson of Natchez; two aunts, Ethel Robinson and Phyllis Robinson, both of Natchez; one nephew, three nieces, four great-nieces, four great-nephews and two great-great-nieces; and a number of other relatives and friends.
