NATCHEZ - Graveside services for Bobbie Marie Rogers, 80, of Natchez, who died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Natchez City cemetery with the Rev. Judson W. Hurt officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.
Mrs. Rogers was born
May 2, 1923, in Carthage, the daughter of Tracy Butler Barnett and Prentiss Berryhill Barnett.
She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was also a member of Bible Study Group #1 of the Women's Missionary Club and a member of Natchez Garden Club.
Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar G. Rogers.
Survivors include sons, Fred L. Rogers and wife, Marlis of Natchez, Bobby G. Rogers of Tallahassee, FL and Kenneth Rogers and wife, Hye Chong of Natchez; daughter, Linda Olivia of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Frederick L. Rogers, Jr., Patrick Rogers, Brynson Rogers, Wesley Rogers, Sara Lindsey Rogers, Leeann Rogers, Cody Davis, Lucas Davis and Nicole Davis; brother, Tracy Barnett of Jeffersonville, IN.
Pallbearers will be Frederick L. Rogers, Jr., Patrick Rogers, Brynson Rogers, Wesley Rogers, Cody Davis and Lucas Davis.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
Claudia Mae White
NATCHEZ - Services for Claudia Mae White, 70, of New Orleans, LA, who died Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital, will be at noon Wednesday at Jefferson Chapel AME Church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of R.D. Mackel & Sons.
She was a native of Natchez and had been a resident of New Orleans for 40 years. She was a bus driver for Adams County Schools and was retired since 1981 from the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital as a food service supervisor. She was a 40 year member of St. Peter AME Church, was a member of Martha Johnson Stewardess Board and Missionary Society, Central New Orleans/Bogalusa District Women's Missionary Society.
Survivors include her husband, Major White, Sr.; three sons, Charles E. White, Major White, Jr. and David E. White; five daughters, Joyce W. Johnson, Imogene W. Carr, Judy W. Weaver, Laura W. Coaxum and Earnestine W. Nichols; one brother, Herbert Sanders, Jr.; four sisters, Ella Henderson, Jessie Sanders, Mabel Redd and Annie Haymon; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Hattie Miles
WOODVILLE - Services for Hattie Miles, 93, who died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Fields Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville, will be at noon Thursday at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Woodville with the Rev. Robert Sullivan officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Rest cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Webb Funeral System.
Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her husband, John Miles; her parents, Cresie Lindsay and Prince Albert Williams, Sr.; one son-in-law, William Porter; one son, William Franklin; three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Rosie Bell Slan Porter of Woodville; one special niece, Georgetta Roy of Woodville; two special nephews, Mon C Allen and Melvin Jenkins of Woodville; special daughter, Chantel Anderson of Woodville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
Minnie Reaves Stokes
Sept. 3, 1922 - Feb. 7, 2004
NOXAPATER - Services for Minnie Reaves Stokes, 81, of Louisville, who died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at River Regional Health Systems in Vicksburg, were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 9 at Vernon Assembly of God Church in Noxapater.
Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Nowell-Tilghman Funeral Home of Louisville.
She was a homemaker and a member of Vernon Assembly of God Church.
Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her husand, Robert V. Stokes; one daughter, Evelyn Stokes; one son, Darrel Stokes; and one granddaughter, Sherri Craft.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Livingston of Vicksburg, Betty Pecanty of Vidalia, LA and Becky Hatcher of Rolling Fork; one son, Milton Stokes of Greenville, TN; one sister, Mamie Clark of Louisville; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dr. Michael Baker, Dwight Baker, Robert Stokes, Darin Pecanty, Robert Monk and Joe Irvin.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. R. Lee Griffin, Roberson Family, River Region Staff - Vicksburg, Trace Haven Nursing Home and Mission Primary Care Staff.
Charles S. Huffman, Jr.
Aug. 13, 1920 - Feb. 7, 2004
NATCHEZ - Services for Charles S. Huffman, Jr., 83, who died Saturday Feb. 7, 2004, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Rev. Lou Knighton officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Huffman was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Michael J. Huffman of Jackson; two daughters Niniea Widner of Jacksonville, Fla., and Dot Foster of Natchez; two granddaughters and two grandsons; sisters Martha Belle Monte of Natchez and Mary Katherine Ogle of Shreveport; brothers, William Huffman of Harrisonburg, La., and John Huffman of Natchez and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Kingston United Methodist Church, 846 Kingston Road, Natchez, MS 39120.

NATCHEZ - Services for Mary Anders Gray, 88, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Terry Upchurch officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gray was born
April 27, 1915, in Adams County, the daughter of Edmond and Viola Davis Anders.
She was a member of Washington Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her husband, Willis A. Gray; two sons, one daughter, seven brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen Aiguier of Ferriday, LA and Shirley Gray and husband, John of Natchez; four sons, Clarence Gray and wife, Audrey, Alton Gray and wife, Virginia, David Gray and wife, Jane and Hubert Gray, all of Natchez; 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Eunice Catorie of Prairieville, LA.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Washington Baptist Church.

UNION CHURCH - Services for Freddie L. Thompson, 68, of Union Church, who died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hickory Block United Methodist Church in Union Church with the Rev. Burnell Newsome officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Williams Mortuary of Brookhaven.

Mrs. Hawkins was born
Sept. 12, 1914, in Adams County, the daughter of Henry and Frances Hawkins.
She was a member of Marblestone Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Ernestine Weary; one grandson, Fredrick Adams; one granddaughter, Krystal Frances Adams; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

SELMA - Services for Mother Valrie Johnson, 103, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, Glenburney Nursing Home, will be at noon Saturday at St. Mary's Baptist Church in Selma with the Rev. Joseph Gibson officiating.
Burial will be in Winston cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mother Valrie Johnson was born
Dec. 7, 1900, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Maggie and Martin Henderson.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Willie Johnson until his death. She was baptized at an early age and joined St. Mary's Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 49 years and later joined the Mother's Board. She attended Old Washington School and then worked as a housekeeper for many years.
Mother Valrie Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and six brothers.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories one sister, Gladys Thomas of Natchez; two brothers, James and Claude (Bertha) Henderson, all of Natchez; like a son, Walter Johnson, Sr.; several godchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be George Johnson, Albert Johnson, Willie Johnson, Martin Henderson, Willie Henderson and Sam Henderson.
Barbara Jean Blanton

CHICAGO, IL - Services for Barbara Jean Blanton of Chicago, who died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at South Shore Hospital in Chicago, were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 4 at Our Lady of Peace Church in Chicago.
Ms. Blanton was born
Sept. 1, 1936, in Natchez, the daughter of Helen K. and Henry Blanton, Sr.
She was educated at St. Francis Elementary and became a graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High in May 1956. In April of 1949, she accepted Christ and was baptized and converted to Catholicism in Holy Family Catholic Church in Natchez and was a devout Christian.
Survivors include her mother, Helen K. Blanton; a daughter, Karen (Patrice) B. Brown and son-in-law, David D. Brown, Sr.; brother, Henry Blanton, Jr.; three grandchildren, Demeka Me'Shan, Shauntia Sherie and David D. Brown, Jr.; two nieces, Marla L. and Dana N. Blanton; cousins, Alma & Marshall Fleming, Elnora and James Washington and Velma J. Strauder and Family.
