NATCHEZ - Services for Johnny L. Cotton Sr., 68, of Lafayette, La., who died Dec. 27, 2002, in Lake Charles, La., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Hill cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until funeral time at the church Saturday.

Mr. Cotton was born icon Feb. 18, 1934, at Lake St. John, La., the son of Elijah and Ellen Cotton.

He was retired from construction work and was a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include five sons, Marcus Cotton and Johnny Cotton Jr., both of Columbus, Ohio, Daryl Cotton of Lafayette, La., and Jackie Cotton and Johnny Cotton III, both of Tumey, La.; three daughters, Sandra Cotton of Columbus, Jeanette Herman of Houston and Rachel Cotton of Monroe, La.; two brothers, Elijah Cotton of Orange, Texas, and Louis Cotton and his wife, L.D., both of New Orleans.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Mack Culbert

July 6, 1934 - Dec. 26, 2002

FAYETTE - Services for Mack Culbert, 68, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Salem Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John Frye officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Culbert was born icon July 6, 1934, in Adams County, the son of Willie Culbert and Enetter Felton.

He was a retired logger and a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Culbert was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Walker Shaw Culbert; and three brothers, Robert Lee Culbert, the Rev. Lethel Culbert and J. C. Culbert.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Culbert; one son, Jimmie Williams of Natchez; one brother, Ernest Lee Culbert and his wife, Rose Marie, both of Fayette; two sisters, Varnette Culbert and her husband, Burnell, and Willie Mae Monroe, all of Fayette; one uncle, Luther Felton and his wife, Ella, both of Fayette; three aunts, Ozie Parker and her husband, Allen, Fannie Lee Monroe of Port Gibson and Caroline Singleton of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Larry Fulton, Jerry Fulton, Willie Culbert, Dennis Culbert, Clarence Culbert, Freddie Felton and Sam Felton Jr.

Willie Lee Thompson

Oct. 4, 1915 - Dec. 26, 2002

NATCHEZ - Services for Willie Lee Thompson, 87, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Gibson officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Thompson was born icon Oct. 4, 1915, in Claiborne County, the son of Eugene and Mirah Thompson.

He was retired from Hammond Alve Corp. in Gary, Ind., and was a member, deacon, choir president and board member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Gary.

Survivors include one sister, Katherine Calvin of Natchez; one granddaughter, Iretha Thompson of Gary; one goddaughter, Pamela Jones of Gary; one grandson, Ronnie Thompson of Milwaukee; six nieces, Jessie Thomas of Port Gibson, Jessie Alexander and her husband, Major, both of Vidalia, La., Patricia Johnson and her husband, Eddie, Deloris Calvin, Antionetta Irving and her husband, Robert, and Tracy Calvin, all of Natchez; five nephews, Roosevelt Thompson and his wife, Ruthie, both of Port Gibson, Ronnie Calvin of Pasagoula, Monroe Calvin of Dallas and Donald Calvin and Terry Calvin, both of Natchez; and a number of great-nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Lamark Thompson, Ravan Thompson, Robert Irving, Terry Calvin, Donald Calvin and Dewayne Alexander.

David Wiggins

Nov. 12, 1942 - Dec. 28, 2002

NATCHEZ - Services for David Wiggins, 60, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at noon today at George F. West Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clifton Marvel officiating.

Burial will follow in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. until funeral time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Wiggins was born icon Nov. 12, 1942, in Adams County, the son of Elijah and Julie Wiggins.

Survivors include one sister, Anna Laura Wiggins of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Richard Arlen Lisk

Dec. 27, 1931 - Jan. 2, 2003

ENGLAND, Ark. - Services for Dr. Richard Arlen Lisk of Lafayette, La., who died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Perry Sanders, Rick Hyde and John Hagen officiating.

Burial will follow in Mulberry cemetery under the direction of Roller-England Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Dr. Lisk was born icon Dec. 27, 1931, in Concord, N.C., the son of H.D. and Pearl Miller Lisk.

He was Baptist minister for more than 50 years, serving as pastor of churches in Concord, N.C., Francis, Fitzhugh, Sulpher and Bristow, Okla., Great Britain and Vidalia, La. He was also assistant to the pastor of First Baptist Church in Lafayette. Dr. Lisk retired from the Army Reserve Chaplaincy as a Lt. Colonel after 30 years of service in the U.S. and Europe.

Dr. Lisk was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Geraldine; and one daughter, Nietta Rae Lisk.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne Jackson Lisk; two sons, Lynn Daniel Lisk and his wife, Ann, and Richard Joe "Rick" Lisk and his wife, Hollie, all of North Little Rock; and five grandchildren, Samuel, Solomon, Kyle, Cierra and Trinity.

Beatrice Grant

March 17, 1910 - Dec. 29, 2002

NATCHEZ - Services for Beatrice Grant, 92, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at Adams County Nursing Home, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ford Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Watkins cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.

The procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from 504 East First Street.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at the church.

Ms. Grant was born icon March 17, 1910, in Natchez, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Grant.

She was retired and a member and mother of New Zion Baptist Church and Emma Morris Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include eight grandchildren, Charles Potters and his wife, Juanita, Bobby Potters and his wife, Carol, Jessie Potters and his wife, Lillian, Dennis Potters and his wife, Latera, Charissa Woods and her husband, Chris, Elaine Ross and her husband Jerrod, Denise Potters and Bobbie Nell Nealy and her husband, Arthur; four children she helped raise, Lil Parker Graning and her husband, Chick, both of Natchez, Deborah Parker Calandra and her husband, Blaise, both of Baton Rouge, Edna Parker Murphy and her husband, Wayne, both of Bay St. Louis, and Paula Parker Pugh of Houston; 16 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be members of M.W.W.T.M. Grant Junior Grand Lodge, Michael Lewis, Charles Potters Jr., Chris Woods, George Tillman, Eddie Tillman, J.T. Robinson and Alton Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Potters Sr., Bobby Potters, Jessie Potters and Dennis Potters.

Thomas B. Hendley Jr.

Sept. 10, 1923 - Jan. 2, 2003

NATCHEZ - Thomas B. Hendley Jr., 79, of Natchez, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, in Natchez.

Burial will be in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Hendley was born icon Sept. 10, 1923, in Charleston, S.C., the son of Thomas Bentley and Sue Prescott Sheppard Hendley Sr.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired from Jordan Kaiser & Sessions after 47 years of service.

Mr. Hendley was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Edward Langdon Hendley Sr.

Survivors include one nephew, Edward Hendley and his wife, Lenora, both of Dodson, La.; one great-nephew, Andrew West Hendley of Virginia Beach, Va.; one great-niece, Anglia Hendley Holman of Birmingham, Ala.; three great-great-nephews; and one great-great-niece.

Mike Gaunt

June 9, 1947 - Dec. 31, 2002

Mike Gaunt, 55, of Natchez, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Gaunt was born icon June 9, 1947, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of Dr. Everett W. and Betty Lou Brown Gaunt.

He was employed by Johns-Manville for 29 years.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Gaunt of Natchez; one son, John Gaunt of Natchez; one daughter, Jamie Beckman of Round Lake, Ill.; his mother; one sister, Pat Woods and her husband, Jack, both of Alexandria, Ind.; and two brothers, Steve Gaunt of Indianapolis and Tom Gaunt of Alexandria.

Hilda Frye Collier

FAYETTE - Services for Hilda Frye Collier, 88, of Kenner, La., who died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace, La., will be Sunday at Rosehill No. 2 Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Inc. of River Ridge, La.

Visitation is from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Collier was a housewife, a native of Fayette and a member of Cypress Grove Baptist Church of Kenner and Rosehill No. 2 Baptist Church of Fayette.

Survivors include five sons, Marion Collier Jr., John Collier, Robert Collier, Eddie Collier and Andrew Collier; four daughters, Rosie Hammond, Iola Nichols, Daisy C. Hurst and Yolanda Kelly; one sister, Denver Frye of Fayette; 31 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Fannie Farr Jordan

Oct. 8, 1912 - Dec. 27, 2002

DESOTO, Texas - Services for Fannie Farr Jordan, formerly of Harriston, who died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at Park Manor Nursing Home in DeSoto, were held Monday.

Mrs. Jordan was born icon Oct. 8, 1912, in Harriston, the daughter of John Vail and Edith Graham Farr.

She graduated from Fayette High School and attended Mississippi University for Women. She was a member of Fayette Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Jordan was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Jordan; one sister, Marie Farr Walker; and two brothers, John Vail Farr Jr. and Jack Graham Farr.

Survivors include one daughter; three grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and friends.

Wilmer 'Junior' Perry

Feb. 5, 1927 - Jan. 2, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Wilmer "Junior" Perry, 75, of Woodville, who died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home South Chapel.

Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery in Woodville under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Perry was born icon Feb. 5, 1927, in Rosetta, the son of Silas and Rosie Edna Pritchard Perry.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James D'Wayne Perry; two brothers, Larry O. Perry and Marshall C. Perry; and one sister, Betty Pittman.

Survivors include his wife, Ollie "Sue" Perry; three sons, Wilmer O'Neal Perry and Marshall David Perry, both of Woodville, and Ronnie Perry of Walker, La.; two daughters, Della Walker of Portland, Ore., and Stacey Thornhill of Woodville; 14 grandchildren; and one sister, Vera Ivy of St. Francisville, La.
