NATCHEZ - Graveside services for Erma McCreight Slover, 91, of Natchez, who died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Greenlawn Memorial cemetery with the Rev. Dan Wynn officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Slover was born icon May 7, 1911, in Louisiana, the daughter of Jamers Robert and Lillie Frances Pittman McCreight.

She was the owner and operator of Slover Grocery Store and a member of First Baptist Church of Natchez, where she sang in the choir for many years.

Mrs. Slover was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vasel R. Slover Sr.; and two sons, Roland E. Slover and Vasel R. Slover Jr.

Survivors include one sister, Alice Morris of Union Church; two daughters-in-law, Virginia Gray Slover of San Antonio and Gay Lambert Slover Lord of Daphne, Ala.; five grandchildren, Steve Slover of Houston, Susie Slover Bartosh of San Antonio, Roland Slover of Madison, Mary Slover of Fairhope, Texas, and Peter Slover of Southlake, Texas; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Natchez.

Beulia Robinson

July 4, 1896 - Dec. 21, 2002

FAYETTE - Funeral arrangements for Beulia Robinson, 106, of Fayette, who died on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2002, at Natchez Community Hospital, are incomplete at Rollins Funeral Home.

Earlena Frazier

UTICA - Services for Earlena Frazier, 70, who died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg, will be at 2 p.m. today at Belmont Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Burks officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Port Gibson.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. until service time today at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Naomi and Joe Allen; her husband, Lt. Sam Frazier; and one stepson, Araska Frazier.

Survivors include six daughters, Carrie Frazier, Mary Allen, Dorothy Allen, Coreen Flowers and Carrie Shelton, all of Utica, and Ida Allen of Jackson; two sons, Johnnie Frazier and Frank Frazier, both of Utica; two sisters, Florence Allen of Utica and Mae Lena Allen of Chicago; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

NATCHEZ - Funeral arrangements for Willie Pinder, 84, of Natchez, who died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, are incomplete at George F. West Funeral Home.

Peggy Sue Ferguson Forman

NATCHEZ - Funeral arrangements Peggy Sue Ferguson Forman, 70, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Zabron A. Davis III officiating.

Burial will follow in the Natchez City cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at the church.

Myrtle James Lofton

Feb. 7, 1924 - Jan. 31, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Myrtle "Marguerite" James Lofton, 78, formerly of Natchez, who died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La., will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home with Dr. William McCorkle officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Natchez under the direction of the funeral home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Baker Funeral Home in Baker, La., and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at Laird Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lofton was born icon Feb. 7, 1924, in Winnsboro, La., the daughter of Hugh J. and Myrtle Ellen Christianson James.

She lived in the Brownfields community near Baker for 25 years and in Natchez for 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Hugh "Pete" James, Charles Edward James Sr. and Harice Ray "Zulu" James; one half-brother, Rufus James; one half-sister, Katherine Havis James; one uncle, Clarence Christianson; and one nephew, Hugh Wade Cox.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Ellen Lofton Payne; one grandson, Michael Wayne Payne, and his wife, Denise; two granddaughters, Dara Lynn Payne and Dacia Leigh Payne Cramer and her husband, Frank; six great-grandchildren, Wendy Arin Rhodes, John "Mitchell" Rhodes, Jeffrey Michael Norton, Magan Renee Cramer, Brooke Marguerite Cramer and Kayla Joan Cramer; one sister, Berneda James Cox, and her husband, John Jr.; one aunt, Martha Christianson; one nephew, John W. Cox III, and his family; and a friend, Jean Daigre.

Pallbearers will be Michael Wayne Payne, Frank Jacob Cramer, John A. King Jr., John W. Cox III, Nick Renard and Blake Anthony Payne.

Honorary pallbearer will be John W. Cox Jr.

Rebecca Mary White

February 22, 1936-January 23, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Rebecca Mary White, 66, of Chicago, who died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, in Chicago will be held at noon Monday at Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church in Natchez with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.

Burial will follow in Natchez National cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mrs. White was born icon Feb. 22, 1936, in Natchez, the daughter of Willie Alexander Watkins and Jessie H. Skipper. She attended St. Francis High School and was a retired teachers' assistant for 30 years and a member of Stone Temple Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carrie Josephine Edwards.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth Lee Watkins, and his wife, Shewanda; one daughter, Sonya Maria White; four grandchildren, Kendrick Ray James and his wife, Shavon, Denice Lashay Green, Jessica Clarice Watkins and Kenneth Lee Watkins, Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Xevion James; two sisters, Louise Ethel Watkins and Jessie Lee Daniel and her husband, Robert Sr.; two aunts, Hattie Williams and Frankie Williams and her husband, Mance; four nephews, Willie Terry Watkins and his wife, Savena, Robert Lee Daniel, Jr., Jimmy Tyrone Watkins and his wife, Angela, and Nelson Ray Watkins and his wife, Jeanette; six nieces, Elaine Delores Edwards, Carrie Josephine Cummings and her husband, Calvin, Valerie Michelle Daniel, Jaqueline Watkins, Tracy Denise Daniel, Carla Marie Owens and her husband, Vernon, Sr.; and a number of friends.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Ethel B. Collins

CHURCH HILL - Services for Ethel B. Collins, 70, who died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at noon Sunday at Linwood Baptist Church with the Rev. D.W. Howard officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include one sister, Julia Ware of Church Hill; three brothers, Freeman Reason and his wife, Esther, Clarence Reason and Julius Reason, all of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Mary Ellen Mulkey

June 30, 1939 - Jan. 30, 2003

Mary Ellen Mulkey, 64, of Cranfield, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003.

Ms. Mulkey was born icon June 30, 1939, in Bude, the daughter of Liza Kennedy and Bob Kennedy.

Ms. Mulkey was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Vita Burt and Eva Rowlen.

Survivors include one son, Rickey March of Texas; one brother, Billy Kennedy of Shreveport, La.; one sister, Sue Padget of Linedale, Texas; one daughter, Pam Mallery of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a number of nieces and nephews and two grandchildren.

Johnnie Lee Sr.

July 23, 1914 - Jan. 25, 2003

FAYETTE - Services for Johnnie Lee Sr., 87, of Fayette, who died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, in Stampley, will be at 11 a.m. today at Forest Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Shannon officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Lee was born icon July 23, 1914, the son of Sol and Sally Lee.

Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Laura Lee and two sons.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Lee Sr. and his wife, Joyce, both of Stampley and the Rev. James Lee Sr. and his wife, Martha, both of Natchez; six daughters, Dorothy Green and her husband, Pete, Cynthia Lee and Peggy Lee and her husband, Greg, all of Chicago, Rita West and her husband, Bobbie, both of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Etta Ellis of Inglewood, Calif. and Lillie Ballard and her husband, Leon, both of Fayette; 23 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; sister-in-law, Cora Harris of Fayette; friend, Jural Anderson.

Pallbearers will be Robert Reed, Ronnie Trevillion, John Arthur Stacker, James Brown, Arthur Ray Council and Derrick Varnado.

Dorthy M. Brown

Nov. 25, 1925 - Jan. 29, 2003

NATCHEZ - Services for Dorthy M. Brown, 77, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at noon Sunday at Marblestone Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Alexander officiating.

Burial will be at Pine Hill Memorial cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and 11 a.m. to noon Sunday at the church.

Mrs. Brown was born icon Nov. 25, 1925, in Baton Rouge, the daughter of Freddie and Georgie Mae Matthews. She was employed at Natchez Pecan Factory and was a member of Marblestone Baptist Church, Home League for Women and the Natchez Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include one son and his wife, William Paul and Jane Baker of Dekalb, Ill.; two daughters, Linda Tyler Casey of Natchez and Lavetta Ann Warrhen and husband Bobby of Tacoma, Wash.; one sister, Margaret "Cookie" Eames of Baton Rouge; one sister-in-law, Louise Arbuthnot of Natchez; two brothers, Wilbert Tillman of Los Angeles and Earl Tillman of Hawaii; one brother-in-law, Ed Turner of Maryland; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.
