Roy Grant Smith, 61, of Senatobia, died Sept. 12, 2005 at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven. He was a Baptist and a steel fabricator.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 14 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
He leaves a son, Bobby Shrum of Senatobia; two daughters, Sandra Dickson of Sardis, Mary Smith of Hernando; a brother, Robert Grant Smith of Senatobia; and four grandchildren.
Rev. Stanford Parnell
Rev. Stanford Parnell, 98, of Ruston, La., formerly of Marshall County, died Sept. 16, 2005 at Alpine Nursing Home. He was a retired associate minister of the First Presbyterian Church in Shreveport, La., at the age of 83. He was the widower of Flora Ellen Blanton Parnell, his wife of 60 years. He served as pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Holly Springs, Red Banks and Hudsonville, in addition to churches in Atlanta, West Point and Savannah, Ga., Union Springs, Ala., Belcher, Dixie and other community churches in Louisiana.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 24 at Alabama Presbyterian Church in Sibley, La.
He leaves his children, Anne Parnell Hestilow of Ocean Shores, Wash., Ellen Parnell of Greenwood, Bill Parnell of Ruston, La.; a sister, Mildred Parnell Spurlock of Sibley; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Alabama Presbyterian Church or the Sibley cemetery Association, 2091 Hwy 145 North, Choudrant, LA 71127.
Cellie Lucille B. Pierce
Cellie Lucille B. Pierce, 101, of Potts Camp, died Sept. 18, 2005 in New Albany. She was the widow of Harvey David Bumpus and John Thomas Pierce. She was a seamstress with Hickory Flat Shirt Factory.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 21 at First Baptist Church in Potts Camp, where she was a member. Burial was in Potts Camp cemetery. Bro. Eugene Blankenship, Bro. Jim Buchanan and Bro. Chuck Fowler officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves a son, David Bumpus of Nesbit; two daughters, Lena Westmoreland of Potts Camp, Mary Lois McCrary of Mrytle; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 36 great-great-grandchildren and four great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Bumpus; and a son, William Bumpus.
Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons.

Ronnie Ware, 49, of Senatobia, died Sept. 12, 2005 at his home. He was self-employed.
Services were held at 12 noon on Sept 17 at Mt. Level MB Church in Como. Burial was in Becham Chapel cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Lucy Moorehead Ware; four daughters, Tameka Ware, Taneshia Ware, both of Batesville, Bevelyn Ware of Memphis, Tenn., Tonia Bowden of Como; three sons, Ronnie Ware Jr., Anthony Ware, Michael Ware, all of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Beneather Ware, Willie Mae Ware, both of Como, Ruthie Leverson of Sardis, Dorothy Ware of Memphis, Tenn.; five brothers, Freddie Ware of Crenshaw, Eddie Ware of Como, Bobby Ware of Pontotoc, Buly Ware of Columbus, George Ware of Pontotoc; and 13 grandchildren.

Delores Moore Bogard, 53, of Red Banks, died Sept. 5, 2005 at Methodist Hospital Germantown. She was a teacher’s assistant.

Grady Lee Brooks, 78, of Byhalia, died Sept. 8 at home. He was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He leaves his wife, Alma Jean Brooks; two sons, William Brown of Memphis, Tenn., Ron Brown of Bartlett, Tenn.; three daughters, Priscilla Herron of Memphis, Glinda Miller of Bartlett, Krista Felty of Byhalia; two brothers. V.O. Brooks of Corinth, Joel Wayne Brooks of Trenton, Tenn.; two sisters, Edna Merle Rogers of Corinth, Fannie Mae Ballister of Ripley; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

R.L. Burnside, 78, of Byhalia, died Sept. 1, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a musician.

George Campbell, 73, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 3, 2005 at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. He was a city worker for the City of Holly Springs.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 10 at Kimbrough Chapel MB Church in Lamar, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Tony Wilkins officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Virginia Kiser Campbell of Toledo, Ohio; a daughter, Virginia Campbell Rucker of Southaven; two sisters, Lizzie Bowen of Holly Springs; Dora Gulledge of Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers, McArthur Campbell, Richard Campbell, Clayton Campbell, all of Chicago, Ill.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Cynthia Marie Carroll, 44, of Olive Branch, died Sept. 4, 2005 in Senatobia. She was a supervisor at Brentwood Originals.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 7 at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial was in Blocker cemetery.
She leaves a son, Bradley Carroll of Senatobia; her parents, Robert L. Givens Sr. of Byhalia, Joy Rolleston of Cumming, Ga.; and a brother, Rob Givens of Byhalia.
Julene Cooper Littlejohn
Julene Cooper Littlejohn, 89, of Byhalia, died Sept. 5, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Collierville, Tenn.

Mays of Southaven, Donald Mays of Olive Branch; three sisters, Versie Jones of Booneville, Earma Davis of Chicago, Ill., Mae Alice Jackson of Bloomingdale, Ill.; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Walter Arthur Lorenz
Walter Arthur Lorenz, 85, of Snow Lake Shores, died Sept. 4, 2005 at Tippah Co. Hospital in Ripley. He was a Catholic, and expediter at GT Electric and an Army veteran of World War II.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on Sept. 7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Holly Springs. Burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery in Elmhurst, Ill. Father Leonard Elder officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Mary Lorenz; a son, Robert Arthur Lorenz of Waterford, Mich.; a daughter, Mary Ann Sullivan of Snow Lake; a brother, Raymond Lorenz of Elmhurst, Ill.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Amber Carol Poff, 15, of Ashland, died Sept. 6, 2005 near Ashland. She was a student at Hickory Flat High School.

She leaves her parents, Scott and Paula Poff of Ashland; her mother, Carla Huey of Thaxton; two brothers, Paul Teel, Wyatt Poff both of Ashland; a sister, Jenna Poff of Ashland; grandparents, Carolyn Carpenter of Slayden; Joel and Sue Poff of Ashland; Phillip and Syble Teel of Mt. Pleasant; and great-grandmother, Mable Sharp of Lamar.

Clarence Allen
Clarence Allen, 79, of Red Banks, died April 26, 2005 at home. He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on April 28 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Clear Creek cemetery.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Gracie Skelton Allen; a son, John Hardy Allen of Red Banks; two daughters, Barbara Clifton of Red Banks, Viola Wallace of Olive Branch; a sister, Kate Taylor of Olive Branch; a brother, Odell Allen of Potts Camp; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Camille Clifton.

Lou Hazel Allen, 73, of Byhalia, died Sept. 6, 2006 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Robert Allen and a member of Bunco Club.
