Linnon Jones, 35, of Holly Springs, died July 16, 2006 at his home. He was a former Sunday school superintendent. He was a framer with Best Bilt System in Byhalia.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 22 at Isom Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Joe T. Lester officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his father, Joseph L. Jones of Holly Springs; his mother, Lassie Talley Jones of Holly Springs; and a sister, Silva McKinnie of Holly Springs.

He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Linton Jones.

Pallbearers were Lysander Jones, Lavorn Jones, Alaric Jones, Brian Jones, Dennis Nabors and Lawrence Tucker. Honorary pallbearers were Eric Dortch, Derek Dortch, Holmes Pinson, Paul Jones, Anterio McKinney and Michael Hughes.

Robert W. Moore

Robert W. Moore, 82, of Red Banks, died July 17, 2006 at his home. He was a construction worker.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on July 23 at Mt. Pisgah CME Church in Cayce, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Hubie Nelson officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Mary Anner Mosley Moore; six daughters, Dorothy Moore of Cayce, Peggy Moore of Red Banks, Betty Watson, Barbara Jones, Carolyn Hall, Katrina Watson, all of Red Banks; five sons, Robert Moore Jr. of Millington, Tenn., George Moore of Cordova, Tenn., Leon Moore, Willie Moore, both of Red Banks, Bearus Moore of Victoria; a sister, Fannie L. Norman of Red Banks; 34 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Moore.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Jeffrey Lamont Moore, Marco Watson, Carlos Moore, Nicholas Moore, Mario Watson and Christopher Malone.

John Thomas Newsom

John Thomas Newsom, 83, of Byhalia, died July 21, 2006 at his home. He was the widower of Betty L. Newsom. He was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church, a maintenance tech with Sears Roebuck for 48 years, a member of NRA, member of Tree Farm Association and an Army veteran of World War II.

Services were held at 10 a.m. , July 24 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery. Bro. Tom Hood officiated.

He leaves three sons, John L. Newsom, Gary Douglas Newsom, both of Byhalia, Thomas A. Newsom of Coldwater; a brother, Garland (Dickie) Newsom of Walnut; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Eugene Newsom.

Roy G. Pasco Sr.

Roy G. Pasco Sr., 60, of Crenshaw, died July 18, 2006 at his home. He was a truck driver for Ellis Steel.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on July 21 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel in Olive Branch. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

He leaves his wife of 41 years, Beverly Pasco; two daughters, Cathy Barber, Melody Roberts; four sons, John, Randy, Bobby and Jason; a sister, Sandra Barbour; a brother, Earl M. Pasco; and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Roy G. Pasco Jr.; his grandsons, Gregory Pasco, Cody Pasco; and his granddaughter, Amber Fitzmeyers.

Billy Ray Smith

Billy Ray Smith, 58, of Homeland, Calif., died July 15, 2006 at his home. He was a machinist.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on July 21 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Early Grove Methodist cemetery in Lamar. Pastor John Holliday officiated.

He leaves his wife, Wanda Smith; a son, Billy Ray Smith Jr. of Homeland County, Calif.; four brothers, Edgar Smith of Bartlett, Tenn., Elbert Smith of Memphis, Tenn., James Smith of Buena Park, Calif., Donald Smith of Millington, Tenn.; four sisters, Mattie Gwaltney of Panama, Okla., Modine Green of Atoka, Tenn., Betty Gregory of Buena Park, Calif., Jean Lewis of Atoka, Tenn.

Pallbearers were Eddie Urey, Charles Ellsworth, Shawn Smith, Jimmy Rhynes, Chad Ellsworth and Gerald Oakes.

Lavern Sweeden Jr.

Lavern Sweeden Jr., 78, of Ashland, died July 19, 2006 in Holly Springs. He was a Baptist and a carpenter.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on July 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bluff Springs cemetery in Ashland.

He leaves his wife, Frances Sweeden; three sons, Malcolm Sweeden of Port Isabel, Tx., Eddie Morgan of Cordova, Tenn., Duane Morgan of Ashland; a daughter, Linda Johnson of Holly Springs; a sister, Rita Handcook of Memphis, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Freels.

Jerry Lewis Thompson Sr.

Jerry Lewis Thompson Sr., 42, of Holly Springs, died July 15, 2006 in Ashland. He was a member of the male chorus. He was a member of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #68 and an upholsterer with Meadow Brook Furniture Co. in Hickory Flat.

Services were held at 12 noon on July 20 at Greenwood MB Church in Lamar, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Houston Evans officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Pearlie Jean Everett Thompson; a daughter, Jerica Thompson of Ashland; two sons, Jerry Thompson Jr., Jermon Thompson, both of Holly Springs; his mother, Margie Francis Thompson of Ashland; four sisters, Mary Francis Armstrong of New York, NY, Rosetta Evans of Lamar, Joyce Moore of Ashland, Odessa Pigrum of Holly Springs; four brothers, Willie Edd Thompson of Ashland, Willie James Thompson of Memphis, Tenn., Jether Thompson Jr. of Blue Mountain and Mark Thompson of Ashland.

Pallbearers were James Everett, Mark Thompson, Allen Everett, Melvin Everett, Jether Thompson Jr. and Jerry Moore Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Marcus Moore, Rodney Evans, Calvin Hampton Sr. and Calvin Hampton Jr.

Burton McNaith Williams

Burton McNaith Williams, 76, of Red Banks, died July 18, 2006 at Alliance HealthCare System. He was a Baptist, an electrician and a Navy/Air Force veteran of Korea.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on July 20 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Red Banks cemetery. Bro. Kevin Teague officiated.

He leaves his wife, Dorothy Williams; two sons, Logan Williams, Hays Williams, both of Red Banks; a daughter, Linda Lindsey of Red Banks; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bridget Lemons.

Annie Lucille Hardin McClatchey
Annie Lucille Hardin McClatchey, 70, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 10, 2005 at her daughter’s home in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of Bell Grove MB Church.

Services were held at 12 noon on Oct. 15 at Chulahoma MB Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. McArthur King officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves two daughters, Barbara Richmond, Lydia McConico, both of Memphis, Tenn.; three sons, Lee Hardin of Holly Springs, Allen McClatchey of East St. Louis, Ill., Michael Phillips of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Annie Scruggs of Memphis, Tenn., Madora Scruggs, Jean Scruggs, both of Holly Springs; two brothers, Gene Scruggs of Memphis, Tenn., Henry McClatchey of Wyatte; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Terrell Brooks, Greg Porter, Chris Ward, Robert Campbell, Jasper James, Allen McClutchey, Anthony Jones, Dewan Shead, Dhrivon James and Antrell Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Lonnie Hardin, Calvin James, Alan James, Dewayne Hardin, Chris McClain, Andre’ Scruggs, Willie James, Jessie James, Douglas Hardin, Roderick Hardin, Steven McClain, Kenneth Scruggs and Derrick Thompson.

Joseph E. McCrady
Joseph E. McCrady, 76, of Ashland, died Oct. 16, 2005 at his home. He was retired from WMC-AM-FM Radio and TV in Memphis. He was past security and policeman for Snow Lake Shores, a mason, a brother of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Eastern Star. He was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Liberty Methodist cemetery. Bro. William Kemp officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Peggy R. McCrady of Snow Lake Shores; two sons, Joe E. McCrady III of Birmingham, Ala., Thomas M. McCrady of Memphis, Tenn.; a stepson, James A. Neal of Memphis, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Emily C. Templeton, Jennifer L. Eggen, both of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Nellie Bishop of Littleton, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bill Roberson, Bob Roberson, John Stolz, Kenneth Eggen, Jason Eggen and J.R.

Jimmie D. Moore
Jimmie D. Moore, 64, of Lamar, died Oct. 10, 2005 at his home.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 15 at Foundation of Life MB Church in Lamar. Burial was in Sanders cemetery. Rev. James Patterson officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves two sons, Bobby Moore, Rickey Dortch, both of Chicago, Ill.; his mother, Fannie Moore of Lamar; three sisters, Elizabeth Cleggs of Detroit, Mich., Nancy Moore, Alma Harris, both of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Ransom Moore of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and a close friend, Eram Jean.

Luke Pryor
Luke Pryor, 84, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died Oct. 10, 2005 at Overton Park Health Center in Memphis. He was a disabled World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Mt. Comfort CME Church in Waterford, a steward, a class leader. He was active in Sunday school and all church activities.

Services were held at Tabernacle MB Church in Memphis, where he fellowshipped. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Donald Strayhorn officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife of 53 years, Betty Carrie Alexander Pryor; four daughters, Melvon Jeanette Tuggles, Corlis Karen Pryor, Christy Rene’ Pryor, all of Memphis, Tenn., Marilyn Joyce Baker of Cleveland, Ohio; three sons, Malcolm Luke Pryor, Tony Maurice Pryor, Orvis Lewis Pryor, all of Memphis, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Lula Mae Conner, Lillian Marie Pryor.

Pallbearers were William (Bill) Griffin, Lawrence Smith, Shaun Mason, Keith T. Mason, Bernard Bledsoe, Steve A. Allen, Sebastian Marion, Spencer Erby, Samuel D. Mason and Kevin Marion. Honorary pallbearers were Malcolm L. Pryor, Darren Ratliff Sr., Lee Phillips, Henry Tuggles, Arthur Baker Jr., Orvis L. Pryor, Marvin Freeman, Linwood Malone, Tony M. Pryor, James Travis, David Adams and Clevie Easley.

Mary Lee Jones Richmond
Mary Lee Jones Richmond, 84, of Lamar (Slayden Community), died Oct. 13, 2005 at her home. She was the widow of Billy Richmond Jr.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Hudsonville CME Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Bobby Wilson will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

She leaves four daughters, Pauline Davis of Nashville, Tenn., Ruby Fitzpatrick of Chicago, Ill., Olivia Williams, Beatrice Combs, both of Dayton, Ohio; four sons, Tracy Richmond, Wade Richmond, both of Lamar, Lynell Richmond of Nashville, Tenn., Leon Richmond of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Saddie Lee Snow of Chicago, Ill., Leonia Beckum of Detroit, Mich.; six brothers, Eddie Jones, Walter Jones, Leonard Jones, William Jones, all of Detroit, Mich., Elettice Jones of Chicago, Ill., Attwood Jones Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, David Richmond, Curtis Richmond; and two sisters, Sadie Lee Jenkins and Olivia.

Pallbearers were Henry Davis, Robert Penilton, Lynell Richmond, Charles D. Isom, Wade Richmond and Leon Richmond.

Martha Jo Riley
Martha Jo Riley, 60, of Potts Camp, died Oct. 14, 2005 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven.

Services were held at 3 p.m. on Oct. 16 at Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, where she was a member. Burial was in Bethlehem cemetery. Rev. Steve Wilson officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband, Willie Clyde Riley; two sons, David Dunn of Victoria, William Riley of Potts Camp; a daughter, Holly Jo Bell of Potts Camp; her mother, Jean Berryhill of Potts Camp; three brothers, James Luther Berryhill of Fountain Inn, S.C., Robert Eugene Berryhill, Terry Wayne Berryhill, both of Potts Camp; two sisters, Nancy Jean Moncrief of Coldwater, Rebecca Louise Pitts of Dekalb; and three grandchildren.

James F. Shaw
James F. (Jimmy) Shaw, 65, of Olive Branch, died Sept. 26, 2005 at his home. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Cedarview Baptist Church and Bluff City Quartet.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 1 at Forest Hill South Funeral Home. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He leaves his wife, Louise Street Shaw; a daughter, Jennifer Shaw of Olive Branch; five sons, Russell Shaw of Thaxton, Marty Shaw of Memphis, Tenn., Paul Walker of Olive Branch, Steve Walker of Olive Branch, Robbie Walker of Memphis; three stepdaughters, Lana Jones of Olive Branch, Gail Donato of Memphis, Vickie Reyes of Olive Branch; his mother, Willa Shaw of Olive Branch; five sisters, Pam Shaw of Olive Branch, Margie Haynes of Nesbit, Barbara Rhea of Holly Springs, Nancy Bryan of Germantown, Tenn., Joyce Phillips of Byhalia; two brothers, Bud Shaw of Olive Branch, Bill Shaw of Holly Springs; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
