Rosie Bessie Moss, 68, of Senatobia, died March 13, 2006 at Beverly Health Center in Batesville.
Services were held at 12 noon on March 18 at Independent Tyro Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, William Moss; two stepdaughters, Shirley Ann Holloway, Carolyn King, both of Memphis, Tenn.; a stepson, Willie Morris Moss of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Clara Hamilton, Lottie B. Dean, Velma Thomas, all of Chicago, Ill., Arlilie B. Dean of Senatobia; and two brothers, Ray Garrett of Chicago, Ill., James Garrett of Memphis, Tenn.
Billy Nathan Sipes
Billy Nathan Sipes, 40, of Memphis, Tenn., died March 19, 2006 in Memphis. He was a member of Cherokee Baptist Church and a network engineer with Bellsouth.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on March 23 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bluff Springs cemetery in Ashland.
He leaves his wife, Gloria Sipes of Ashland; his father and mother, Billy Sr. and Lynn Sipes of Jackson, Tenn.; two daughters, Haley N. Sipes Skylar S. Sipes, both of Ashland; and a sister, Cyndi Culpepper of Dickson, Tenn.
Elsie Morgan Smith
Elsie Morgan Smith, 81, of Lamar, died March 19, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of Fred Smith. She was a member of Rice Chapel Methodist Church.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 21 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Rice Chapel cemetery. Bro. Walter Myers and Bro. Don Wilson officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two sons, Sam Smith of Tualatin, Ore., Kem Smith of Orlando, Fla.; four daughters, Mary Joe Rushing of Lamar, Donna Jackson of Ashland, Lisa Craft of Collierville, Tenn., Eva Tindall of Myrtle; a brother, George W. Morgan Jr. of Slayden; three sisters, Gladys Yeager of Lamar; Mary Joyner of Red Banks, Emma Jean Wilson of Lamar; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Shae Joyner, Jonathan Craft, Randy Scott, Chase Joyner, Steven Allen and Bryan Latham. Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Cothern, George Carpenter, Tommy Dodd, Woody Smith, Howard Hailey and Charlie Huey Morgan.
Marvin Edward Tunstall
Marvin Edward Tunstall, 47, of Waterford, died March 9, 2006 at Alliance HealthCare System. He was a truck driver with the State of Mississippi Department of Transportation. He was a member of the steward board and male choir.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on March 18 at Mt. Comfort CME Church in Waterford, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Elder Joseph Grantham officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Vernell Reynolds Tunstall; a daughter, Trinette Tunstall of Waterford; two sons, Carlos Blackmon of Byhalia, Marchello Sellers of Holly Springs; two sisters, Deloris Nathaniel of Memphis, Tenn., Jackie Nettles of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Calvin Tunstall, James Tunstall, both of Holly Springs; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers were co-workers with MDOT, Neil Mansel, Joe Mills, Thomas Goode, Willie Jones, Billy Yeager, Daniel Hyde, Barry Clifton and John Richmond. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Mitchell, Levi Alexander, Frank Jones, Essex Wilson, Willie Lewis, Charles Brown, Lance McCallum, Michael Lay, Demill Dixon, James Jordan, Vernon Wilson, Warrick Jones, James Beard and Tommy Childers.
Charles Lanier Robison Jr.
Charles Lanier Robison Jr., 78, of Holly Springs, died March 21, 2006 at his home. He was a prominent banker and landowner. A graduate of Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi Banking School, he served in the Navy during World War II and the Air Force during the Korean War. He was the past president of Merchants and Farmers Bank and at his death, he served as CEO and chairman of the board of directors. He was the third generation to be affiliated with the bank. He was a member of the Mississippi Bankers Association and a member of the Holly Springs Rotary Club, where he received the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Rotary Award. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Holly Springs for 70 years.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on March 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. on March 23 at the First United Methodist Church in Holly Springs.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Carole Coopwood Robison; two children, Charles Lanier Robison III of Memphis, Eleanor Robison Horton of Collierville; and grandchildren, Lauren Austin Robison, Charles Lanier Robison IV, Grace Ann Robison, Anna Carroll Horton and Robert Harrison Horton.
Pallbearers are Greg Taylor, Ben Seale, Gary Barnett, Jim White, Steve Bowers, Todd Grant, Sammy Bailey, Tommy Taylor, Bob Carrington, Shep Smith and Blanton Jones. Russell Quit Perry
Russell Quit Perry, 81, of St. Louis, Ill., formerly of Marshall County, died Nov. 27, 2006 at his home. He was Catholic and a veteran of World War II.
Services were held at 12 noon on Dec. 8 at Mount Tabor Baptist Church in East St. Louis, Ill. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National cemetery. Pastor James Macon officiated. Officer Funeral Home, East St. Louis, Ill., was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves one sister, Clara (Cissie) Webb of East St. Louis; and cousins Claude Vinson and Clara Vinson, both of Holly Springs.
Willie Miller Ross
Willie Miller Ross, 100, of Laws Hill, died Dec. 7, 2006 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab. He was a retired farmer.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 9 at New Hope MB Church in Laws Hill. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Earnest Jones officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his caregivers, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie A. Fesmire of Waterford; a nephew, Ray Miller of Toledo, Ohio; a niece, Cora Yarbrough of Akron, Ohio; and cousins, Levan Miller, Elmira Miller Curry, Mandie Wilson, all of Marshall County.
Pallbearers were Perry Fesmire, Ivory Kinard, Kelvin Wilson, Cole Fesmire, McEwen Walker and Shane Campbell.

Dandle (Big Blue) Ayers Sr., 48, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 13, 2006 at Baptist Memorial East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Services were held Dec. 16. Rev. Lee Robertson officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Effie Ayers; two sons, Dandle Ayers Jr., Daryl Ayers; three brothers, Danny Ayers, Wheeler Matthews, Wayne Mays, all of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Corretta Harris of Ashland; three stepsons, Issac Mayfield, Tyrone Mayfield, both of Holly Springs, Curtis Mayfield of Byhalia; and six grandchildren.
Olivia Stephenson Batts
Olivia Stephenson Batts, 80, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 7, 2006 at her home. She was the widow of Early Lee Batts. She was a member of the choir, Women’s Missionary group and president of the stewardess board.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 13 at New Hope CME Church, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Robert J. Matthews Jr. officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves two daughters, Earlene Smith of Holly Springs, Connie Sipp of Warner Robins, Ga.; three sons, Charles David Batts of Kileen, Tx., Robert Earl Batts of Memphis, Tenn., Donzel Batts of Wichita, Kan.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lee Brooks; and a son, Early Lee Batts Jr.
Pallbearers were Ernest Cunningham, Clyde Nevels, Wilbert Brown, Jimmy Lee Shipp, Alvin Barksdale, Robert Lee Batts, Ivon Johnson and Turner Lester. Honorary pallbearers were Charles David Batts, Donzel Batts, Robert Earl Batts, Darin D. Brooks and Oliver Zinn Robinson.
Eric Maurice Beck, Jr.
Rev. Dr. Eric Maurice Beck, Jr., 66, of Little Rock, Ark., formerly of Holly Springs, died Tuesday, December 6, 2006, at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. He served as the pastor of Baptist churches in Little Rock, Arkansas; Belmont, Birmingham, Decatur, Florence, Mobile and Saraland, Alabama; Greenville and Rocky Mountain, South Carolina and Newborn, North Carolina.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on December 11 at Griffin Leggett-Healey & Roth Funeral Home. Burial was in the U. S. Military Veterans cemetery in North Little Rock, Ark.
He leaves his wife, Flossie M. Beck, two sons Andre Harris and Dewayne Johnson, both of Little Rock; a brother, Alva Beck of Holly Springs; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Everett C. Beck.
William Cross
William (Al) Cross, 43, of Byhalia, died Dec. 14, 2006 at The Med in Memphis, Tenn. He was team lead for McKesson Pharmaceuticals. He was a Baptist and a hot air balloon pilot.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 17 at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven. Burial was in Byhalia cemetery.
He leaves his wife of 4-1/2 years, Linda G. Cross; his father, Johnny Cross of Vidalia, La.; and a brother, John Michael Cross of Byhalia.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret C. Whitehead; stepfather, Guy Whitehead; his sister, Michele Whitehead; and uncle, John David Cummings.
The family requests that memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or The Med Trauma Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Clifton Ray Langley
Clifton Ray Langley, 80, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 11, 2006 at Alliance HealthCare. He was a veteran of World War II, a Mason, volunteer fireman, treasurer of the local Disabled American Veterans. He was a V.A. Administration surgical technician.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 15 at Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Wofford cemetery, Vernon, Ala. John Prothro officiated.
He leaves his wife, LaVona Langley of Holly Springs; a son, Phillip Ray Langley of Orlando, Fla.; two stepsons, David Anderson of Arlington, Tenn., Jerry Anderson of Memphis, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Nancy Rhinehart of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Wendy Brower of Dunlap, Tenn.; two grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Langley.
Etheleen Howell
Etheleen Howell, 45, of Verona, died Dec. 9, 2006 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. She attended Central High School in Flint, Mich.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 13 at Shiloh CME Church in Fulton. Burial was in River Rest cemetery in Flint. Minister Bettye Clifton officiated. Serenity Funeral Home of New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her husband, Dwayne Howell of Flint, Mich.; three children, Nicole Logan, Dwayne Howell, Walter Howell, all of Verona; six sisters, Pearlie Traylor, Melba Roby, Margie Henry, Theresa Hinkle, all of Flint, Ruby Hinkle of St. Louis, Mo., Deborah Jones of New Albany; four brothers, Lord Hinkle, James Hinkle, Charles Hinkle, all of Flint, Gary Christian of Fulton and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Christian, and a sister, Barbara Williams.
Harvey E. Mask
Harvey E. Mask, 84, died Dec. 14, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto. He was a member of Sarah Baptist Church and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 16 at Sarah Baptist Church. Burial was in Longtown cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Mary E. Mask; two daughters, Diane Smith of Nesbit, Dolores Chrestman of Hernando; five sons, Delane Mask of Randolph, Wayne Mask of Senatobia, Dick Mask of Lee Summit, Mo., Billy Mask of Sarah, Perry Mask of Holly Springs; a sister, Bertha Wallace of Heber Springs, Ark.; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amelia Joy Mask, and a son, Donnie Mask.
