He was also a member of the LA/TX Coastal Salt Water Anglers and Cookers.

Survivors are his wife, Rose Case Bass; daughter, Courtney Biggs and husband, Nathan; stepsons, Clint Rutland and wife, Rikki, Nathan Ellis and wife Chelsy and Nick Ellis; stepdaughter, Khristy Gladden and husband, Adam; brothers, Ricky Bass and wife, Jennifer, and Rusty Bass and wife, Kathy; sisters, Martha Smallwood and husband, Mike, and Mary Russell and husband, Randy; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Thomas Eugene "Gene" Griffith
Funeral services for Thomas Eugene "Gene" Griffith, of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service, with burial in New Sight cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Griffith, 81, died May 15, 2012, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
He was born
in Mississippi on Dec. 1, 1930, to W.E. and Nannie Louise Griffith.
He was a chief engineer for Merchant Marines and member of New Sight Baptist Church and of the Brookhaven Masonic Lodge #241.
Mr. Griffith served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Preceding him in death were his parents; granddaughter, Andrea Nicole Graves; and six siblings.
Survivors are his wife, Minnie Evelyn Griffith; son, James Michael Griffith and wife, Sandy, of Bogue Chitto; daughters, Sandra Graves and husband, Dennis, of Brookhaven, and Jeannie Brown, of McComb; stepsons, Donald Maxie Douglas and wife, Vivian, of Brandon, Michael Paul Douglas, of Jackson, and Alex Tucker and wife, Sandra, of Brandon; stepdaughter, Theresa Ann Causey and husband, Robert, of Raymond; brothers, Lavon Griffith, of Alberta, Ala., Wayne Griffith, of Nederland, Texas, and Kenneth Griffith, of Sontag; sister, Louise Calendar, of Kenner, La.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlene T. Smith
Mrs. Charlene T. Smith, 78, died May 11, 2012, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
She was born
in Brookhaven on Oct. 31, 1933, to Clifford and Maude Foster Tillman.
She was a homemaker and a member of Easthaven Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and daughter, Sue Tibbs.
Survivors are her husband, Calvin Smith; son, Keith Smith, of Meadville; daughter, Tonya Boswell and husband, Tony, of Brookhaven; sister, Mildred Jones and husband Ronnie, of Summit; four grandchildren, Cassie Smith, Charlee Boswell, Brent Boswell and wife, Erica, and Cole Tibbs and wife, Robyn; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert McKinley Collins, Jr.
Mr. Collins, 81, died May 10, 2012, at his home.
He was born
in Alabama on June 14, 1930, to Robert McKinley Collins Sr. and Lillie Mae Cast Collins.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a postmaster in Gloster.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven.
Mr. Collins was a deacon at Centreville Baptist Church, taught Sunday School and went on various mission trips.
He played several seasons with Natchez Indians Professional Baseball.
Mr. Collins served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, James Marcus Collins; brothers, the Rev. Milford Collins and Charles Collins; and sisters, Allene Collins Pool and Alice Drew Collins Hoss.
Survivors are his wife, Mary George Dalton Collins; son, Robert McKinley Collins III "Kent" and wife, Vicky; daughter, Carolyn Stephens and husband, Marty; eight grandchildren, Jake Collins, Amanda Gardner, Hannah Collins, Erin Collins Walsh, Andrew Collins Walsh, Elena Walsh, Ashley Stephens and Clint Stephens; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Collins; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Nichols, 66, died May 1, 2012, at her home.
She was born
in Meadville on May 28, 1945, to Charles Nettles and Dorothy Greer.
She was a barber and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and sister, Elaine Nettles.

Thomas Pratt
Mr. Thomas Pratt, 58, died March 3, 2012 at his home.
He was born
in Louisiana on October 24, 1953, to Robert and Winnie Roberts Pratt.
He was a stock clerk at Wal-Mart and of the Catholic faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother, Devoy Burns; and sister, Margie Price.
Survivors are his brother, Glen Roberts, of Colorado; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
W. Morris Henderson
Funeral services for Willie Morris Henderson, of Union Church, are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, at First Baptist Church of Brookhaven, with burial in Easthaven cemetery.
Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Henderson, 85, died March 2, 2012, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins.
He was born
in Alabama on May 26, 1926, to Benjamin L. and Theodosia Daniels Henderson.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven from 1956 to 2002 and a member of Union Church Baptist Church from 2002 to 2012.
He was a funeral director, coroner, medical examiner and position holder at Hartman-Henderson Funeral Home.
He was the Deputy Sheriff of Lincoln County for 30 years and president of Hartman-Henderson for 40 years.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars for 30 years, American Legion for 30 years, Kiwanis Club for 30 years, Lincoln County Defense for 20 years, National Funeral Directors Association for 30 years, National Directory of Morticians for 30 years, Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Association for 20 years, Brookhaven/Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce for 30 years, chairman of American Red Cross Disaster Association for 20 years and colonel of Governor's Staff for three years.
Mr. Henderson served in the 44th Infantry of the U.S. Army during World War II.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Elizabeth A. Henderson; daughter, Alicia Henderson Woody; brother, W.O. Henderson; and sister, Louise Henderson McCall.
Survivors are his wife, Helen Jordan May Henderson; daughter, Mitzie Elizabeth Henderson Stewart; five stepchildren; one grandchild, Benjamin Shane Stewart and wife, Lorie; one great-granddaughter, Whitney Elizabeth Stewart; 16 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great- grandchildren; and a friend closer than a brother, James F. "Jack" Robinson and family.
Billie Alton Fountain
Billie Alton Fountain, 79, of Pearl, MS, went home peacefully with his adoring daughters at his side, on February 24, 2012. Graveside services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church cemetery in Hazlehurst, MS, Monday, February 27, 2012, at 2:00 pm. Riverwood Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Billie was born
on July 2, 1932, in Leakesville, MS to Will and Aldora Fountain. He was an only child. Billie left home at the age of 17 to join the Army and proudly served his country in the Korean War, from 1949-1953. After returning to the US, he met and married
Carrie Bee Barlow in 1954. He was a 33 year retiree of Greyhound Bus Lines and then continued to drive 6 more years for Sistrunk Trucking. Billie enjoyed dogs, cars, playing cards, watching N.C.I.S., hunting, fishing, yard work, crossword puzzles, cook-outs, Southern food (especially sweets), New Orleans and DEM SAINTS! He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie, in 2006. Survivors include his adoring daughters, Jerry Fountain, Sandra Sanders (Tony), Laurie Labella, Joey Suchanek (Edward), 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
Mary Lou Dyess
Mrs. Dyess, 70, of Monticello, died on February 24, 2012 at South West Regional Medical Center in McComb.
She was born
in Mississippi on June 7, 1941, to Riley and Mildred Turner.
She worked as a nurses' aid at Lawrence county Hospital, and was of the Methodist Protestant faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Dyess; her son, Jackie Dyess and her grandson, Stephen Barnett.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Dyess; her daughters, Kay Dyess and Velda Caloun; her brothers, A.C. Turner, George Turner and Steve Turner; sisters, Jo Stapleton, Ann White, and Melba Carson; her 8 grandchildren, Christy Morris, Niki Hay, Stacey Reid, Morgan Quebedeaux, Brian Barnett, Jackie Ward, Colby Sullivan and 8 great grandchildren.
Barbara Rogers Nau
Mrs. Barbara Rogers Nau, 75, died Feb. 21, 2012, at Silver Cross Home.
She was born
in Mississippi on June 15, 1936, to James "Jimmy" D. and Lida Tad Nicholas Rogers.
She was a hotel sales and catering manager and a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Jackson.
She graduated from Longview High and Kilgore College, where she was in many clubs and on the Kilgore Rangerette Squad.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, William "Bill" Rogers and Thomas "Tommy" Rogers; sister, Peggy R. Monahan; and nephew, Tony Monahan.
Survivors are her stepdaughters, Roni Gay Bailey and Gayle N. Norris, both of Longview, Texas; brother-in-law, John Monahan, of Brookhaven; sisters-in-law, Margie Rogers, of Jackson, and Margie Rogers, of Hubbock, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Julie Ann Pistole Willoughby
Funeral services for Julia Ann Pistole Willoughby, of Brookhaven, are 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at River of Life Pentecostal Church with burial in Wellman Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Willoughby, 48, died Feb. 21, 2012, at Brook Manor Nursing Home.

in Florida on Dec. 3, 1963, to Doug and Betty Pistole.
She was a member of River of Life Pentecostal Church.

Ms. Virginia Hope Bales, 37, of Bogue Chitto, died on February 21, 2012.
She was born
on January 28, 1975.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.
She is preceded in death by her father, Roy Edmund Thomas; her grandparents, Willie Monroe Thomas Sr.; Julius P. and Leona Bales; and H.B. Vera Martin; brother, Teddy Dale Martin Jr.; and her nephew, Allen Chandler Martin.
She is survived by her mother Paulette Bales Martin and step father, Teddy D. Martin, her children’s father, Troy Lynn Dickerson, son, Roy Edmond Dickerson; daughters, Kami Lynn Dickerson and Chelsey Leona Dickerson; brother, Bradley Allen Martin and sister, Paula Lynn Bergeron.
Jesse Dean
Mr. Jesse Dean, 78, of Hattiesburg died on February 18, 2012 at his residence.
He was born
in Newton County MS., on May 27, 1933 to Jesse Dean and Cleo Parks Dean.
He was an Electrical Draftsman Engineer at Potter Company and a member of The Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, where he served as Sunday School Teacher.
Mr. Dean served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion.
Preceding him in death were his parents, son, Marcus Joel Dean and sister, Annie Mae Swisher.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Goforth Dean of 58 years and 7 months, son, Stephen Dean; daughter, Debbie Dean White and 6 grandchildren, Jeffrey White; Emily White Sparkman; Meghan Dean; Rebecca Dean; Kimberly Dean; Nathaniel Dean; 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a friend to all, respected and loved.
