Ripley -- Raymond F. 'Pete' Thomas, 77, retired factory worker for Foot Carress/Genesco, died Saturday at Beverly Healthcare. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home with burial in Palmer cemetery. He was a Korean War Army veteran, member of Palmer Baptist Church and American Legion. Mr. Thomas, the husband of Scottie Roberson Thomas, also leaves two daughters, Sandra T. Love and Gloria T. White; a son, Greg Thomas, and two sisters, Paula Carter and Wyleen Austin, all of Ripley, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Palmer Baptist Church.

Batesville -- Irene Flemmons Carpenter, 88, homemaker, died Sunday at Beverly Healthcare. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Wells Funeral Home with burial in Forrest Memorial Park cemetery. She was a member of Batesville First United Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Carpenter, the widow of Travis Carpenter, leaves three daughters, Geneva C. Meek of Batesville, Shirley C. Nail of Picayune and Earlene C. Ford of Hernando; two sons, James Riley Carpenter of Batesville and Edward Carpenter of English, Ind.; a sister, Annie May Clay, and a brother, A.B. Flemmons, both of Batesville, 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren and a great-great-great-grandchild.

Byhalia -- Will Henry Kizer, 84, retired material handler for Carrier Corp., died April 11 at Memphis Veterans Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cathedral of Praise Church of God in Christ in Watson, where he was a deacon and superintendent, with burial in McCravy cemetery there. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater has charge. Mr. Kizer, the husband of Seraphine Kizer, also leaves six daughters, Faye Kizer of Byhalia, Iris Gwen Kizer Egbodofo, Emma Richmond, Estella Ford and Alfreda Kizer, all of Memphis, and Jennifer Kizer of Olive Branch; five sons, Robert Curtis Jones, Marvin Kizer and Lloyd Kizer, all of Memphis, Stanley Kizer of Byhalia and John Lenwood Kizer of Olive Branch, 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Corinth -- Clifton Bouton Sawyer, 97, retired Army lieutenant colonel and former superintendent of Corinth Sewerage Department, died Sunday at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a member of Corinth First United Methodist Church and a graduate of Corinth High School and Mississippi State College. He leaves a son, Clifton W. Sawyer of Waynesville, N.C.; a sister, Martha Chronister of Jackson, Tenn., two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Corinth First United Methodist Church.
