Rev. Howard L. Hathorn

Funeral services for Rev. Howard L. Hathorn, 82, were held at 3:00 P. M. Sunday, April 2, 2006, at First United Methodist Church in Louisville. Rev. Mike Childs officiated. Burial followed in Flower Ridge Cemetery.
A native of Winston County, Rev. Hathorn was a retired United Methodist minister. He graduate from Louisville High School in 1942 and attended Wood Junior College, graduated from Mississippi State University, and received his theological education from Emory University. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the Rotary Club, the Mississippi Cattlemen's Association, and member and past president of the Mississippi Polled Hereford Association. Rev. Hathorn served in churches in the following locations: Derma, Buena Vista, Vernon-Palmetta, Inverness, Isola, Macon, First Methodist Church of Houston, MS, and First Methodist Church of Louisville. After retirement, he served as the West Louisville Charge for 13 years. Rev. Hathorn died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo.
Survivors include his wife, Clyde Whiteside Hathorn of Louisville; one daughter, Dana Leigh Norman of Houston, MS; one son, Rev. Dale Hathorn of Corinth, MS; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Hugh Hathorn, Hugh Whiteside, E. L. Vowell, Michael Hathorn, Samuel Hathorn, and Andy Garner.

Stanley H. Hathorn, 68, died Saturday, November 5, 2005 at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Visitation was 5-8 p. m. Tuesday at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville. Services are 10 a. m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 at First Baptist Church with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Hathorn was an attorney and cattle farmer, and had also served as football coach, teacher, and banker. He was a graduate of Louisville High School, Delta State University, and received his law degree from Ole Miss. He had served as president and Chairman of the Board of Citizens Bank & Trust Co., was attorney for the Winston County Board of Supervisors and the Louisville Utility Board. He was a member and board president of the Mississippi Polled Hereford Association.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Department 5 Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia B. Hathorn; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Boyd Allen of Noxapater; one son and daughter-in-law, Stan & Chasidy Hathorn of Louisville, one sister, Janice Hunter of Louisville, one brother, Jimmy Hathorn of Louisville, and three grandchildren, Abby Hathorn, Sam Allen, and Max Allen.

Mr. Dennis Hudson

Funeral services for Mr. Dennis Hudson, 62, were held at 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, November 8, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Louisville. Rev. Billy Bowie and Mr. Giles Ward officiated.
A native of Louisville, Mr. Hudson was a well-known radio personality and television news anchor. A 1961 graduate of Louisville High School, Mr. Hudson is recognized as the nightly-news anchor for WCBI-TV from 1991 until his retirement in 2003. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbus, MS. Mr. Hudson died Sunday, November 6, 2005, at the Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Medical Center.
Survivors include his daughter, Heather Hudson of Columbus; one son, Heath Davis Hudson of Columbus; one sister, Daphne Kent of Austin, TX; and his mother, Marjorie Barnhill Hudson of Louisville.

Funeral services for Mr. Willie L. C. Carter, 75, were held at 1:00 P. M. Monday, March 27, 2006, at Mt. Calvary M. B. Church in Louisville. Elder Harvey Scott officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
A native of Louisville, Mr. Carter was a farmer and a member of Mt. Calvary M. B. Church in Louisville. Mr. Carter died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Specialty Hospital in Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Kittie Mae Carter; seven daughters, Marzella Carter of Ridgeland, Ludean Carter of Louisville, Edith DeLisa Carter and Anita Carter of Greenwood, Felisha Lyons, Arlesa Carter, and Artisha Fulwiley of Louisville; six sons, Willie C. Carter and Ray Charles Carter of Ridgeland, Bobby Charles Carter of Gautier, Mark Carter of Pascagoula, Richard Carter of Greenwood and Eddie Carter of Louisville; one sister Juanita Carter of Ridgeland; 30 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Tommie Kirkwood, 81, were held at 1:00 P. M. Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Millspring M. B. Church in Weir. Burial followed in Weir Chapel Cemetery.
A native of Choctaw County, Mr. Kirkwood was a retired bus driver for the Choctaw County School System. He was a member of Millspring M. B. Church of Weir. Mr. Kirkwood died Saturday, March 25, 2006, at his home in Weir.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie Kirkwood of Weir; three daughters, Irine Kind, Alice Kirkwood Evans, and Mary Jean Kirkwood Smith all of Weir; four sons, Marvin Kirkwood, Kevin Kirkwood, Jimmie K. Kirkwood, and Otis Kirkwood, all of Weir; three sisters, Veriscee Lee Buckanhand, George Evers Woodard, and Aggie Lawerence, all of Weir; two brothers, Henry Kirkwood and Robert Kirkwood, both of Weir; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A native of Ackerman, Mr. Baber was occupied with the City of Ackerman and was a member of Fancher Hill Baptist Church in McCool. Mr. Baber died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Choctaw County Hospital in Ackerman.
Survivors include his wife, Felecia Baber; mother, Lavoia Baber; four daughters, Teresa Carter of Ethel, Michelle Jobe of Milwaukee, WI; Shantele Baber of Ackerman; and Donta Baber of St. Louis, MO; five sons, Billy G. Funeral services for Mr. Merrill "Cajun" M. Meyers, Sr., 59, were held at 2:00 P. M. Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Starkville. Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery near Sturgis.
A native of New Orleans, LA, Mr. Meyers was a self-employed licensed plumber. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and a member of the AARP, American Legion, and Disabled Veterans of America. Mr. Meyers died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at his daughter's residents near Louisville.
Survivors include his wife Marian Elizabeth St. Cyr Meyers of Springfield, LA; two daughters, Kimberly Dawn Meyers of Starkville, MS, and Michelle Lyn Presley of Louisville; three sons, Merrill Martin Meyers, Jr., of Eupora, Jason Leon Meyers of Starkville, and Michael Wayne Meyers of Mobile, AL; and eleven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Carl Reed, Justin Withers, Marc Presley, Val Flanagan, Michael Presley, and Charles Collins.
Honorary pallbearers were James Dustin Meyers, Daryl Blakeney, William Presley, Brandon Jones, Barron Withers, and Brennan Withers.

Funeral services for Mr. Chris B. Padilla, 86, were held at 2:00 P. M. Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Ackerman Baptist Church. Rev. Danny Irvin officiated. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery in Ackerman.
A native of Pintada, New Mexico, and resident of Eupora, Mr. Padilla was a retired employee for Herschede Clock Company. He served in the United States Army and attended Ackerman Baptist Church. Mr. Padilla died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora.
Survivors include his son, Paul Padilla of Pascagoula; two daughters, Caroline Bray of Grenada, MS, and Christine Murphy of Ackerman; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. June Isabelle Peterson, 87, were held at 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville. Rev. William Smith officiated. Burial followed in Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville.
A native of Betterfield, Minn., Mrs. Peterson was a nurse's aid for 20 years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Louisville. Mrs. Peterson died Monday, April 3, 2006, at Mississippi Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS.
Survivors include her husband Jim Elliot Peterson; three daughters, Susan Rae Peterson of Foxboro, NC, Lynn Peterson Chamblee of Carthage, MS, and Denise Peterson Byrd of Louisville; one son, James Todd Peterson of Louisville; twin sister Junice Larson of Litchfield, MN; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
