Mr. Ben "Bud" Edward Higginbotham

August 21, 2010

Mr. Ben "Bud" Edward Higginbotham, 44, died Saturday, August 21, at Noxubee County Nursing Home. Funeral services were held at 2 P. M. Monday, August 23, at Mashulaville Baptist Church, with Bro. Bobby Joe Butler and Bro. Bobby Parish officiating. Interment was in Mashulaville Baptist Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Higginbotham was born May 28, 1966, in Macon, MS. He was a member of Mashulaville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Campbell of North Carolina, a sister, Roxie Higginbotham of North Carolina, two nieces, and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins who cared for him.

Pallbearers were Trey Taylor, Eddie Gaylord, Richard Gaylord, Robert Holdiness, Phillip Higginbotham, Mike Slawson, and Jackie Holdiness.

Memorials may be made to Mashulaville Baptist Church, 7260 Hwy 14, Macon, MS 39341.

Mr. Joe D. Cork

August 15, 2010

Services for Joe D. Cork were held August 21, 2010 at 1 P. M. at Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ in Ackerman. with Elder Ethen Gillespie officiating. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery.

Mr. Cork, 63 of Ackerman, died August 15, 2010 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora. He was a member of Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ in Ackerman. He was a laborer.

Survivors include one daughter, Janice Ruth Cork Pratt of Ackerman, one son Joe Cork of Dallas TX, three sisters, Mary Triplett, Mattie Brown and Annie Murphy, one brother, Freeman Cork, of Ackerman, three grandchildren, one great grandson, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Superintendent Isaac Harris

August 15, 2010

Services for Superintendent Isaac Harris were held August 21, 2010 at 11 A. M. Center Hill Church of God in Christ in Louisville with Elder Stanley Harris and Bishop Hollis Musgrove officiating. Burial followed in church cemetery.

Superintendent Harris, 69 of Louisville, died August 15, 2010 at University Medical Center in Jackson, MS.

He was District Superintendent and Pastor of Center Hill Church of God in Christ, Louisville and Mars Hill COGIC, Philadelphia, MS.

Survivors include his wife Rosie Harris, five daughters, Mavis Harris of Jonesboro, GA. , Jeanette Russell of Riverdale, GA. , Rheta Taylor of Jackson, MS. , Geradline Harris and Calandra Curry both of Louisville, one son Stanley Harris of Brandon, three sisters Emma of Callmedge, OH, Dorothy Waldrip of Louisville, MS. , and Elizabeth Cistrunk of Pleasantville, New Jersey; ten grandchildren, an uncle, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Mary L. Pace

August 14, 2010

Services for Mary L. Pace were held August 20, 2010 at 2 P. M. at Beck Funeral Home in Louisville, MS. with Rev Herman Haynes officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Garden.

Mrs. PACE, 67 of Louisville, died August 14, 2010 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Hughes of Hinesville, GA. , Mary Jean Pace and Victoria Matthews both of Louisville, one sister Earlean Haynes of Louisville, one brother Clyde Haynes of Louisville, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Ms. Lisa McAdory

Ms. Lisa Ann McAdory, 46, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi. Visitation was at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, from 12:30 p. m. until 1:30 p. m. Graveside services were at 2:00 p. m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, in the Union Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Calloway officiating.

Miss McAdory was of the Baptist faith. Bro. David Sumner provided a song at the graveside service.

She is survived by her parents, Sidney H. and Elizabeth A. (Powell) McAdory; one brother, Thomas S. McAdory all of Noxapater, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. Lillie Shepperd Roark

Services for Lillie Shepperd Roark were held Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 2 PM from Pentecostal Apostolic Church in Philadelphia with Rev. Ronnie Roark and

Rev. Richard Burks officiating. Burial followed in Sunrise Cemetery in Noxapater under the direction of McClain-Hays Funeral Home.

Mrs. Roark, 80, of Noxapater, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at Hospice in His Hands in Leake County.

She was born and reared in Winston County and lived in Neshoba County for a number of years. She had made her home in Noxapater for the past 36 years. Mrs. Roark was a member of Pentecostal Apostolic Church in Philadelphia.

Survivors include daughters, Sharon Bailey and Christina Roark both of Noxapater; sons, Ronnie Roark of Los Angeles, CA and Paul Roark of Meridian; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Roy Shepperd of Noxapater.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Ms Elizabeth “Betty” Landry

October 19, 2010

Funeral services for Ms Elizabeth “Betty” Landry, 78, were held at 10 am Friday, October 22, 2010 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery in Ackerman.

Ms Landry was a homemaker. She was of the Catholic faith. Ms Landry died October 19, 2010 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Survivors include son Jimmy Thomas, sisters Mary Ann Ham, Martha Lang, and Irene Tingle-Baker, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Memorials may be made out to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and/or a charity of your choice.

Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman was in charge of arrangements.

Ms Katie Jean Lowery

October 10, 2010

Funeral services for Ms Katie Jean Lowery, 54, were held at 1 pm October 16, 2010 at Union Chapel M. B. Church. Reverend Willie Matthews officiated. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Ms Lowery served with home mission, and was in Sunday school and Bible studies. She was also a member of Union Chapel M. B. Church. Ms Lowery died October 10, 2010 at the Winston County Nursing Home.

Survivors include daughters Terri Lowery and Twanda Brazzle, sisters Dorothy Bray, Katie Jones, Ruthie Colter, and Jannie Overstreet, brothers Charles Lowery, Marvin Lowery, John Lowery, and Alvin Lowery, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Williams, Herring & Hampton Funeral Home of Louisville was in charge of arrangements.

Earl Daniel McArthur

October 17, 1933 - October 13, 2010

Mr. Earl Daniel McArthur passed away on October 13, 2010. Memorial service was held at 3:30 p. m. on October 16, 2010 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, Houston, TX with Pastor Elton Mayes officiating.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Hiram and Georgian McArthur; three sisters: Rubye McArthur Richards, Sarah McArthur McKay and Mozelle McArthur Holton; two brothers: W. H. McArthur and Lawrence McArthur.

Survivors include his wife, Danyce Sullivan McArthur; son, Kenneth McArthur (Paulette); daughters, Deborah Cannaliato (Brice), Mary Anne McArthur, and Sarah McArthur; sister, Shirley McArthur Alexander; grandchildren, Stefanie Cannaliato, Theresa Pina (Sean), Brian McArthur (Andrea), Kimberly McArthur and (Ean), Norma Clopton, Sarah McArthur; great-grandchildren, Sadie Pina, McKenzie Schroer, Bradley McArthur, Sofie Pina, Andrew McArthur, Lane Schroer; and many other loving and caring family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Norman Clopton, Joey Kendrick, Mickey Kendrick, Brian McArthur, Sean Pina, and Ean Schroer.

Mrs. Elene Tatum Collins

Mrs. Elene Tatum Collins, 84, passed away on Thursday October 21, 2010 at her home in Louisville, MS. She was born January 31, 1926. Mrs. Collins funeral was held on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Antioch M. B. Church at 11:00 A. M. with burial following in Memorial Gardens. Rev. James Headd was the officiating minister.

She was a homemaker and a member of Antioch M. B. Church, Louisville, MS.

She is survived by one daughter Marlene McDew of Louisville, MS. ; two sons, Johnnie M. Collins of Chicago, IL. , and Duane A. Collins of Holly Springs, MS; three sisters Corrine Avant, Bobbie J. Bell and Sybil V. Barron all of Chicago, IL. ; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews

Mrs. Bertha Lee Johnson

Mrs. Bertha Lee Johnson, 100, passed away on Thursday October 23, 2010 at Landmark of Desoto Nursing Home in Hornlake, MS. She was born August 2, 1910. Mrs. Johnson funeral was held on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Friendship. Baptist. Church at 1:00 P. M. with burial following in Memorial Gardens. Pastor Benjamin Pittman was the officiating minister.

She was a retired homemaker and a member of Mt. Moriah M. B. Church, Louisville, MS.

She is survived by. six grandchildren and host of friends.

Mrs. Mavis Garner

Mrs. Mavis Garner, 79, passed away at Oktibbeha County Hospital on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, in Starkville, Mississippi.

Visitation was at Morgan Chapel Baptist in Sturgis, Mississippi, on Friday, October 29, 2010, from 11:00 a. m. until 1:00 p. m. Funeral services were at 1:00 p. m. on Friday, October 29, 2010, at Morgan Chapel Baptist Church with interment following in Morgan Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Ralph Windle officiating. Mrs. Garner was born November 8, 1930, to Sula and Leonard Collier. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Ray Garner of Sturgis; three daughters, Beth Hathcock of Cedar Bluff, Mississippi, Amy Smith of Nesbit, Mississippi, and Meg Gregory of Sturgis, Mississippi; one son, Dennis Garner; 11 grandchildren, Joshua Hathcock, Jeremy Hathcock, Lainee Smith Jeffers, Nikki Smith Wood, Shelby Smith, Cager Garner, Travis Garner, Joby Garner, Will Gregory, Evan Gregory, and Emily Gregory; three great-grandchildren, Avery Garner, Julieanne Wood, and Camilla Jeffers; one niece, Charlene Doss and one great-niece, Joanne Doss both of Mathiston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sula M. and Leonard M. Collier; one brother, Charlie B. Collier; and one sister, Bonnie B. Collier.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Hathcock, Jeremy Hathcock, Cager Garner, Travis Garner, Joby Garner, Will Gregory, and Evan Gregory.

Memorials can be made to Morgan Chapel Baptist Church, Sturgis, MS.

Mrs. Mary Alice Robertson

Mrs. Mary Alice Robertson, 76, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday, Oct. 30th, at Vernon Assembly of God, with Rev. Jesse Ray officiating. Interment was in Vernon Assembly of God Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Robertson was born June 19, 1934, in Winston County, MS. She was a retired case worker for the Miss. Dept. of Human Services, and was a member of Vernon Assembly of God. She is survived by her husband, W. E. Robertson, Jr. of Louisville; a son, Mike (Becky) Robertson of Loganville, GA; a daughter, Debbie Swaggart of Baton Rouge, LA; two sisters, Catherine Bracken of Crystal Springs, MA, and Christine Daniels of Preston, MS; two brothers, James H. Patterson of Philadelphia, MS, and Tilton Patterson of Preston, MS; six grandchildren, Jennifer Mullis, Gabriel Swaggart, Matthew Swaggart, Kirsten Warr, Vanessa Phelan, and Sydney Robertson; and seven great grandchildren, Samantha Swaggart, Abby Swaggart, Ryder Swaggart, Lola Swaggart, McCartney Warr, Liam Warr, and Laila Phelan.

Pallbearers were Gabriel Swaggart, Matthew Swaggart, Hunter Warr, Michael Phelan, Cliff Mullis, and Ricky Paterson.
