Elmo Fondren McClain, of Miami Lakes, Florida, passed away on February at his home in Florida.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
Survivors include four sisters, Helen King of Atlanta, GA; Reba Harris of Augusta, West Virginia; Bobbie Gore of Starkville; Betty Boyd of North Augusta, South Carolina; one brother, George McClain of Starkville and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lester B. Ray

Funeral Services for Lester B. Ray, 56, of French Camp, were held February 20, 2003 at Oliver Chapel in Winona with Rev. Jimmy Latham and Rev. Gary Jackson officiating and burial in Bethsaida Cemetery near French Camp.
Ray died February 18, 2003 at his residence of cancer. He was a member of Natchez Trace Masonic Lodge, Local 624 Operating Engineers and a Supervisor for Latex Construction Co. in Atlanta, Ga.
Survivors include wife, Virgie Ray of French Camp; daughter, Sherry Fowler of Houston, TX; sister, Helen Braswell of Winona; brothers, Burt Ray and Glynn Ray both of Kilmichael
SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral Services for James H. Pendergrass, 82, were held at Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at Rose-Neath's Logansport Chapel. Terry Slack FCA Director officiated. Interment followed in O. E. Price Memorial

Pendergrass was born July 20, 1920 in Noxapater. He passed away Sunday, February 16, 2003 in Shreveport, LA. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Franklin, LA. and member of Elk's Club No. 122. He was a retired production superintendent for Sonat Exploration. He served four years in the Navy during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Pendergrass; two brothers, J. E. Pendergrass and Harvey Pendergrass.
Pendergrass is survived by his wife, Nora Horn Pendergrass of Shreveport, LA. ; son, James R. Penderqrass and wife, Pam of Houston, TX. , Michael E. Pendergrass of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Joy Pendergrass Tyer and husband, Keith of Bossier City, LA. ; three grandchildren, Gregory, Jonathan and Stephen all of Bossier City, LA and sister, Annie Pendergrass of Noxapater.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Greg, Jonathan and Stephen Tyer, sons, J. R. and Mike Pendergrass and nephew, Rodney Ramsey.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or American Lung Association.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Louisiana.
Odella Jones

Odella Jones, 85, died Feb. 19, 2003. Funeral services were held Feb. 22 at Greenwood Chapel in Fort Worth , TX.
Odella was born Oct. 9, 1917 in Louisville. She graduated Louisville High School as valedictorian. She was a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church since 1961 and an active member of Pro America. She retired from All Church Home for Children in 1987 after 20 years. She served a bookkeeper, acting director, historian, and public relations.
Survivors include: Marianne Alderman and her husband, Hale; Lind Taliaferro and husband, Jerry; son, John Jones; five grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Roger Agent

Funeral services for Roger Agent, 90, were held Thursday, Feb. 20 at the chapel of McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Parker officiated. Burial was in the Old Pearl Valley Cemetery. Agent died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003 in Winston County Nursing Home.
Agent was born and reared in Neshoba County and lived in Jackson for a number of years. He lived in Louisville the last 18 years. He was a member of Pearl River Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn Belding of Louisville; two sons, Kenneth Agent of Louisville and Norman Rush Agent of Ridgeland; one sister, Ruby Hill of Jackson, LA; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
McClain-Hays was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Viola Irene Green

Funeral services were held for Viola Irene Green, 83, of Duck Hill at Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Ackerman February 25. Interment followed at McCurtains Creek Cemetery. Revs. Dan Beardin and Sam West officiated. Green died February 23, 2003.
Green was born January 18, 1920 in Alabama. She was homemaker and a member of Huntsville Church of Christ.
She is survived by three sons, Mike S. Green of Stewart, Stevie Joe Green of Weir, and Paul Green of Stewart; one daughter, Elaine Flananan of Duck Hill; one sister, Evelyn Thurmond of Chattanooga, TN; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Nowell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to McCurtains Creek Cemetery Fund.
Frank Fox

Funeral services for Frank Fox were held Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p. m. from Noxapater United Methodist Church. Rev. Tommy Murphy and Rev. Everette G. Fox, Jr. officiated. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater under the direction of McClain-Hayes Funeral Home. Fox died Feb. 20, 2003 at Beverly Health Care-Broadmoor in Meridian.
Fox was born and reared in Noxapater where he made his home all his life. He was a member of the Noxapater United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Sue Wells of Philadelphia and Mary Nell Price of Demopolis, AL; three brothers, James Harvey Fox of New Hebron, Joe Charles Fox of Lena and Everette Fox of Meridian; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lura Lorene Boatman
Lura Lorene Boatman, 88, of Eupora died Feb. 22, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in Eupora.
Mrs. Boatman, a homemaker, was born in Webster County on April 17, 1914. She was a member of Souls Haven Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Dot Hines of Jackson and Ann Berry of Louisville; three sons, Dale Boatman of Stewart, Glenn Boatman of Vicksburg and W. L. Dodd of Eupora; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gladys A. Boatman.
Services were Feb. 24 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. James Caffey, Doyce Armstrong and Johnny Lollar officiating. Burial was in Reed's Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ray Boatman, Bret Boatman, Glen Boatman, Kevin Boatman, Dale Boatman Jr. and Richard Hines. Honorary pallbearer was Larry Campbell.
Ruth F. Eckhardt
Ruth Ferguson Eckhardt, 89, of Eupora and formerly of Starkville, died Feb. 19, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in Eupora.
Mrs. Eckhardt, a retired teacher, was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She graduated from the University of Manitoba and Iowa State University, married and moved to Mississippi State in 1943.
She had an unusual and wonderful contralto solo voice, and sang in many musicals for more than 50 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Starkville, where she was active in the choir and women's group, and was an assistant instructor of Body Recall.
She was past president of the Starkville PTA; a former member of the Starkville/MSU Symphony Chorus, Starkville Community Theater, Mississippi State University Women's Club, Nocturne Music Club, Pilot Club and Delta Delta Delta sorority; a Delta Kappa Gamma honorary life member and Woman of Distinction, Starkville BPW Woman of Courage, Mississippi Merit Mother and Mississippi Mother of the Year.
She also taught at the University of Manitoba, Mississippi State College for Women and MSU, and in the Starkville public schools from 1959-1978.
She is survived by her children, William G. Eckhardt and his wife, Marge, of Kansas City, Mo. , Karl R. Eckhardt and his wife, Barbara, of Walla Walla, Wash. , Elizabeth E. Geer of Tulsa, Okla. ; and Myrna E. Lott and her husband, Bryan, of Eupora; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Richard D. Eckhardt and his wife, Catherine, of Iowa City, Iowa.
Mrs. Eckhardt was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Eckhardt. Services were Feb. 22 at First Presbyterian Church in Starkville with burial in Oddfellows Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rob Eckhardt, Will Eckhardt, Yong S. Chai, Grant Geer, Ross Henderson and Trent Allen.
Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Viola Irene Green
Viola Irene Green, 83, of Duck Hill died Feb. 23, 2003, at her daughter's residence in Elliott.

John S. Hodges Jr.
John S. Hodges Jr. , 78, of Eupora died Feb. 22, 2003, at Webster Health Services in Eupora.
Mr. Hodges, a disabled salesman, was born in Grenada County on Feb. 25, 1924. He was a veteran and a member of Lollars Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Jean Newland of Eupora; four sons, John Thomas Hodges of Grenada, Allen Earl Hodges of Kilmichael, Frank E. Hodges of Houlka, and Bob Hodges and Willie Hodges of Eupora; one half-brother, Walter Mahan of Eupora; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 24 at Lollars Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Stanley Dorroh officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rickey Newton, Kyle Richardson, Chris Palmertree, Galin Newland, Jay Gatlin and Ardon Littlejohn.
Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
J. V. Jones
J. V. Jones, 68, of Stewart died Feb. 17, 2003, at Oktibbeha County Hospital in Starkville.
Mr. Jones was born June 17, 1934, in Choctaw County. He was a retired merchant and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Jones of Kilmichael; one daughter, Diane Perry of Charlotte, N. C. ; three stepdaughters, Pam Dewberry of Eupora, Susan Johnson of Kilmichael and Brenda Gary of Eupora; two stepsons, Fred W. Farley and Heath Farley of Eupora; five sisters, Barbara Bailey of Oxford, Berneta Pollard of West Point, Etolia Booth of Mathiston, Vickie Shufflin of Shreveport, La. , and Mildred Milsaps of West Point; one brother, Cecil Jones of Mathiston; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 19 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rickey Holloway officiating. Burial was in Greensboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Heath Farley, Fred Farley, Wayne Farley, Sammy Jones, Mark Jones, Les Pollard and Joe Pollard.

Elmo Fondren McClain, a native of Choctaw County, died Feb. 18, 2003, at his home in Miami Lakes, Fla.

Annie Beatrice Hunt Morgan
Annie Beatrice Hunt Morgan, 87, of Madden died Feb. 20, 2003, at Hospice in His Hands in Madden.
Mrs. Morgan, a retired factory worker, was born in Choctaw County on Feb. 28, 1915. She was a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in the Panhandle area. She was an avid quilt maker and gardener, and she loved to fish.
Survivors include one son, Wendell Morgan and his wife, Sue, of Weir; three grandchildren, Stacie Morgan, Gary Morgan and Connie Phillips; one sister, Norma J. Hunt of Meridian; two sisters-in-law, Annie Katheryn Hunt and Jeannette Hunt of McCool; and one brother-in-law, Johnny Turnipseed of Meridian. She also leaves 36 nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Morgan; and a son, Melvin.
Services were Feb. 22 at Nowell Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Roger Griffith and James Burrell officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Presbyterian Cemetery.
