U. Paul Hudson
Funeral services for U. Paul Hudson, 84, were held on July 5, 2000 at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Hudson died on July 2, 2000 at Jeff Anderson Memorial Hospital in Meridian of cancer.
He was a native of Winston County. He spent most of his life in the lumber manufacturing business until entering into retail business in 1973.
He was a Mason and a member of the VFW having served in World War II and was discharged with the rank of Major in 1946. He was an avid golfer who served as president of Quitman Country Club twice. He served as a director of one of the local banks for twenty-two years.
He loved his church and chaired several committees including Chairman of the Administrative Board of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Helen Hudson of Quitman; son, Jimmie Hudson of Waynesboro; brothers, J. R. Hudson of Memphis, TN and W. D. Hudson of Louisville; sisters, Myra Lanox of Yazoo City; Nora Clark of McAllen, TX and Janettee Polk of Louisville and two grandchildren.
Rev. Brian Scarbrough and Rev. Mitchell McDonald officiated at the service with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery of Quitman.
The family requests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, Quitman or to a charity of your choice.
Pallbearers were W. L. Brown, Franklin Slay, Tommy Scott, Stan Majure, Tom Mayatt, Ray Smith, Billy Ford, Hobby Hammack.

Willie D. Murray

Ms. Murray died on July 7, 2000 of congestive heart failure in Detroit, MI.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include husband Charlie Murray of Eupora; daughters, Effie Hightower of Louisville, Willie Metta Martin and Theressa Riley of Detroit, MI; sons, Paul Murray of Chicago, IL, Eldridge Murray of Brownview, IL, Charlie Dwight Murray of Detroit, MI, Archie Murray and Bernard Murray of Eupora; sisters, Easter Robinson of Sumit and Minnie Crockett of Detroit, MI; 25 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Evangelist Effie Hightower officiated at the service with burial in Red Hill Cemetery.

Earnestine Austin Shumaker
Funeral services for Earnestine Austin Shumaker, 83, of Ackerman, were held on July 8, 2000 at Big Jerusalem M. B. Church.
Mrs. Shumaker died of cardiac arrest on July 5, 2000 at Choctaw County Medical Center.
She was a retired educator with Choctaw County Schools for over 30 years and a member of Big Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Maxwell of Ackerman; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Burial was in Big Jerusalem M. B. Church Cemetery.

Dorien Jawon Watson
