Services for Douglas Bradshaw, 80, were Monday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home with burial at Tabernacle Cemetery in Attala County.

Douglas W. Dendy
July 25, 2008
Graveside services for Douglas W. Dendy, 64, of Kosciusko will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Parkway Cemetery. Visitation is 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home.
Dendy died July 23, 2008 at the Attala County Nursing Center. He was a retired machine operator for Dendy Lumber Company and also worked for Dendy Sawmill. He was a member of the Kosciusko Church of Christ. Les Ferguson will officiate.
He is survived by his sister, Audrey Watts and husband, Raymond of Florence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Dendy; parents, Clayton V. and Willie Mae Thrailkill Dendy.

Nina Blailock Jenkins

Nina Kristeen Jenkins, 91, of McVille, died July 24, 2008 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at Jordan Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Yockanookany Baptist Church with burial in the Yockanookany Cemetery.

Rev. Ralph Hunt and Rev. Barron Pilgrim will officiate.

She was a member of Yockanookany Baptist Church where she was a Ladies Sunday School Class teacher, and pianist for many years. She was a longtime employee of Sears in Memphis. She moved back to McVille in 1959 where she owned and operated the W.E. Jenkins General Store.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. E. Jenkins; parents, A.S. and Ruth Terry Blailock; brother, Terry Blailock; and sister, Frances Cook.

She is survived by nieces Billye R. Bracht of Houston, Texas, Joy F. Martin of Virginia Beach, Va., and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Paul Merchant, Jimmy Utz, Jamie Utz, Felix McMillan, Anthony Moore, and Scott Moore. Honorary pallbearer is Geroge Pinkard.

Memorials may be sent to Yockanookany Baptist Church or Cemetery.

Larry Earl Cole

Funeral services for Larry Earl Cole, 55, of McCool, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Cole, a senior barge foreman for Global Industries, died July 21, 2008 in an automobile accident in Crystal Springs. He was a native of Attala County and a member of Springdale Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Liz Ramage Cole of McCool; a son, Brice (Angie) Cole of Ethel; a daughter, Meagan (Scott) Walters of Ethel; his mother, Elois Cole of Carthage; three grandchildren, Chase Walters, Colby Walters and Loren Steed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Cole.
Rev. Larry Harvey and Rev. Marshal Lum will officiate.

L. Andrew “Drew” Dison

Bossier City, LA-L. Andrew “Drew” Dison, 50, died in peace Tuesday, July 24 at his home after a lengthy illness of diabetes and liver failure.

Drew was born in Kosiusko, MS. He had resided in Bossier City since he was five. He was saved at Waller Baptist Church. He was very active in the music community and he and Dorinda were always supportive of the local bands. A private service will be held at a later date.

He was preceded in death by his father, William A. Dison; sister, Joellyn Dison Arnold and his loving grandmother, Neda Sproles of Kosciusko.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Lois Sproles Dison; brothers: Don Dison of Brandon, MS, Bill Dison of Saudia Arabia; sisters, Carol Hughes of Doylestown, PA and Yvonne Haynes of Bossier City; Also by the love of his life Dorinda Mann & her 2 sons, daughter and grandson. He is also survived & loved by 2 nieces and 13 nephews.

The family extends their gratitude to Suzanne Wallace and Ashley Adams of WK Hospice Service; also to Kevin Slusher, Doctors: Terry & Donald Strain and to The Pool of Siloam for their care and sharing the love of Jesus through Medical Ministry.

Robert "Buck" Dees

Funeral services for Robert “Buck” Dees, 83, of Kosciusko will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in New Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 Wednesday and Thursday, noon until service.

Dees, a retired employee of Acres O’Lakes Catfish Farm, died July 30, 2007 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He had also been employed by the Natchez Trace Parkway and the City of Kosciusko. He was a member of the Community Full Gospel Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Margaret Dees of Zama, Debbie Herman of Michigan City, Ind., and Cindy McCool of Pontotoc; a son, Karl Dees of Hearne, Texas; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Earline Phillips and Wilma Bingham of Kosciusko, and Nellie Morg an of Ethel; three brothers, Zebbie Dees of French Camp, Leroy Dees of Ethel and John Henry Dees of Kilmichael.

In lieu of flowers, donations for the funeral expenses may be made to Zebbie Dees.

Paul Newell

Funeral services for Paul Newell, 88, of Kosciusko were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parkway Cemetery.

Newell died July 27, 2007 at his residence. He was a retired foreman at Garan Inc. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Yverlette May Newell of Kosciusko; four sons, Walter Preston Newell of Vicksburg, John Paul Newell of Des Moines, Iowa, Daniel Baker Newell of Scottsboro, Ala., and David William Newell of Trussville, Ala.; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Rev. Glenn Martin and Rev. James Salter officiated.

Pallbearers were Mark Atwood, Charles Newell, Jack Newell, Brad King, Mitch Ellis and Justin Fanning.

Memorials may be made to Sta-Home Hospice.

Christine Malone

Graveside services for Mrs. Christine Malone, 82, of Kosciusko will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at North Union Cemetery directed by Culpepper Funeral Home.

Mrs. Malone, who had worked with BellSouth, died Aug. 6, 2007 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. She was a Baptist. She was a native of Attala County, daughter of the late Henry Lee and Julia Taylor Davis.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Morgan of Jackson.

Rev. Robert Blakely will officiate.

Zachary Winters
August 13, 2007
Funeral services for Zachary "Billy Ray" Winters, 59, of Kosciusko will be held today at 1 p.m. at Traveler's Rest M.B. Church with burial in the Kosciusko City Cemetery.

Winters, a business owner, died Aug. 9, 2007 at the VA Hospital in Jackson.

Winters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Murray Reid Thorne

Funeral services for Murray Reid Thorne, 70, of Kosciusko, former president of Holmes Community College, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with burial in Parkway Cemetery.

Thorne, a native of Tishomingo County, died Aug. 11, 2007 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Aline Dexter Thorne of Kosciusko; a son, Michael Thorne of Jackson; a daughter, Sandra Cook and husband Tim of Kosciusko; a brother, David Thorne, and a sister, Jeanette Crane, both of Iuka; a granddaughter, Lauren Moore and husband Destin of Kosciusko; a great-granddaughter, Sarabeth Moore.

Rev. Barry Corbett will officiate with Culpepper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Jenkins, Jimmy Rigby, Jack Holmes, Joe Adams, Dwight Myrick, Dale Lewis, Gene Richardson and Jerry McKibbon.

Palmetter Hannah

Funeral services for Mrs. Palmetter Hannah, 86, of Kosciusko were held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Christian Liberty M.B. Church with burial in Parkway Cemetery.

Mrs. Hannah died Aug. 8, 2007 at the University Hospital in Lexington.

Winters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Nina Reed Adams Elias

Graveside services for Mrs. Nina Reed Adams Elias, 78, of Baton Rouge were held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Wake Forest Cemetery in Thomastown.

Mrs. Elias, a native of Thomastown, died Aug. 9, 2007 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. She was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by four daughters, Pamela Welsh and husband Jeffrey, Rhonda Elias, Vanessa Elias, Marissa Guillory and husband Lloyd, three sons, Ernest Elias and wife Phyllis, Marcus Elias and wife Cindy, Richard Elias and wife Kerri; 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Greenoaks Funeral Home and Jordan Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Pamela Marie Hutchison

Funeral services for Pamela Marie Hutchison, 33, of Wesson will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Wright’s Funeral Home Chapel in Quitman with burial in McLean Cemetery in Attala County.

Ms. Hutchison, a phlebotomist, died Aug. 15, 2007 at her residence. She was a native of Hinds County.

She is survived by a daughter, Bailee Hutchison of Wesson; her parents, Melvin and Glenda Hutchison of Wesson; a brother, Timothy Scott Lucas of Clarksdale; two sisters, Tiffany Loar of Wesson and Dawn Early of Shubuta; grandparents, Bailey and Colleen Hutchison of Newport and Marie Lucas of Quitman.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Howard Lucas.

Rev. Grady Crowell will officiate.
