Estella Givens
Estella Given, 87, of McComb, died Sept. 20, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. today at Cook’s Enterprise Funeral Home Chapel. Services are noon Monday at Society Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. R.C. McCall will officiate. Burial will be in Algiers Cemetery.
Mrs. Givens was born April 25, 1913, in Natchitoches, La. She was the daughter of the late Clifton Lundy and Elizabeth Morrow Lundy.
She was a homemaker and a member of Society Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Givens was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James L. Givens Sr.
Survivors include one son, James L. Givens (Carolyn) of Chicago; one daughter, Jean E. Givens of McComb; three granddaughters, Courtney E. Givens of McComb, Terissa De La Espriella (Gustavo) and Takisha Givens, both of Chicago; one grandson, Devonte Givens of Chicago; four sisters-in-law, Georgia Jenkins, Elizabeth Jacobs (James), all of McComb, Ruth Davis of Las Vegas and Bernice Givens of Chicago; and a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
Jerry P. Brumfield
Jerry “Peter” Paul Brumfield, 51, of Magnolia, died Sept. 21, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at Cook’s Enterprise Funeral Home until services there Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Joseph Crawford will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Brumfield was born Dec. 29, 1948, in Magnolia. He was the son of Robert Brumfield and Eva Sandle Brumfield.
He was a logger and a member of St. Peter’s Apostolic Church.
Mr. Brumfield was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Addison; a brother, Robert Brumfield Jr.; and a special nephew, Benjamin Brumfield.
Survivors include a special friend, Glenda Rose Jenkins of Okolona; one daughter, Tonya (Tracey Feilds) Jenkins of Shannon; five brothers, Henry (Mamie) Brumfield, Johnnie (Mable) Brumfield, all of McComb, Willis Brumfield, Donald (Robyn) Brumfield, all of Magnolia, and Anthony (Lillian) Brumfield of Memphis, Tenn.; five sisters, Elsie (Leon) Starks of San Jose, Calif., Eva (Bobby Ray) Matthews of McComb, Gloria Dean (Johnny) Love of Flint, Mich., Clara Long of Magnolia and Nettie (Eugene Hayes) Johnson of Osyka; two grandchildren, Arirus Jenkins and Chastaee Jenkins of Shannon; special brothers-in-law, Ronnie Magee and Robert Johnson, both of Magnolia; an uncle, Robert Melvin Sandle of Chicago; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Katherine Young
Katherine Young of McComb died Sept. 23, 2000, at her residence.

Carroll Hines
Carroll Hines, 81, a resident of McComb, died Sept. 23, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Hines was a former manager of Sammons Communications, now known as Cable One. He was a lifelong broadcast pioneer and a former owner of WAKK and WAKH radio stations.

Zelma F. Smith
Zelma Fortenberry Smith, 89, of McComb, died of respiratory failure Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare Southwest in McComb.
Visitation is 5-8 tonight at Catchings Funeral Home in McComb, and 11 a.m. Tuesday until services there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Joe Blackwell and the Rev. J. Frank Smith will officiate. The Rev. Ed Sudduth will serve as organist. Burial will be in Silver Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born June 26, 1911, in Pike County. She was the daughter of Lemuel Q. Fortenberry and Lillian Ellzey Fortenberry.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Magnolia.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. Nolan Smith; one son, Maxwell Wallace Smith; two brothers, E.J. and Duvoix Fortenberry; and a daughter-in-law, Ingrid G. Smith.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Neron and Carolyn Smith of Raymond and Robert Howell Smith of Baton Rouge, La.; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Doug Lawrence of Magnolia; one brother, Kenric Fortenberry of Satellite Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Birdie Ott of Mt. Hermon, La., and Willie Jean Simmons of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and very special friends, Ed and Ruth Sudduth of McComb.
Pallbearers will be Dean Smith, Jeffrey Smith, Mike Williams, David Lawrence, James Rushing and Don Smith.

Roosevelt Jackson
Roosevelt “Shine” Jackson, 70, of Magnolia, died Sept. 21, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Cook’s Enterprise Funeral Home. Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Jerusalem M.B. Church. The Rev. James C. Jackson, pastor, and the Rev. Ellis Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jackson was born Feb. 16, 1930, in Pike County. He was the son of Arthur and Ruby Collins Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two brothers and one sister.
He was retired and was a member of Rose Hill M.B. Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Hackett Jackson of Magnolia; one son, Clifton R. Jackson of Indianapolis; one stepdaughter, Ella W. Hackett of Magnolia; two brothers, Dud Jackson of Magnolia and Robert Jackson of Chicago; one step-grandson; one step great-grandson; one aunt, Norman Tillman of Kentwood, La., and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Annie J. Cleckler
Annie Louise Jordan Cleckler, 55, of Brookhaven, died of heart failure, Sept. 22, 2000, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital.
Visitation is 5-10 tonight at Harrigill Funeral Home in Brookhaven. Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mallalieu United Methodist Church in Lincoln County. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Cleckler was born April 13, 1945, in Brookhaven. She was the daughter of Gladys Thompson Jordan of Brookhaven and the late Houston Jordan.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mallalieu United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her mother; two sons, Doyce Cleckler of McComb and Cameron Cleckler of Hattiesburg; one grandson, Brandon Michael Cleckler; one brother, Calvin Houston Jordan of Brookhaven; and two sisters, Virginia Jordan Brumfield of Brookhaven and Laura Jordan Barksdale of Gore Springs.
B.D. Bunnell
B.D. Bunnell, 94, of Richton, died of a heart attack Sept. 24, 2000, at his residence.
Visitation will be 5:30-10 tonight at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Richton. Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Revs. Buddy Keyes and Freddie Odom will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery in Richton.
Mr. Bunnell, a native of Atlanta, was the son of the late Albert Lavert Bunnell and Lewrainey Beck. He was a retired farmer and retired rural mail carrier. He had worked raising and showing registered polled hereford cattle in his younger years, and he had been a tour guide at the Shiloh National Park in Tennessee.
Mr. Bunnell was a member of Richton First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Blanche Virginia Bunnell of Richton; four sons, Vernon B. Bunnell and Bobby D. Bunnell, both of Richton, Buddy L. Bunnell of Memphis, Tenn., and Charles W. Bunnell of Ovett; one daughter, Dorothy A. Jones of Richton and formerly of McComb; one sister, Lora Lee Ferguson of Flint, Mich.; one brother, Charles Pershing Bunnell of Flint; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Barnes, Johnnie Wayne Barnes, Kent Myrick, Danny Eldridge, Frank Bunnell, Donald Pittman and Danny Jones.
John C. Grady Sr.
John C. Grady Sr., 77, of McComb, died Sept. 24, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Grady was born Feb. 4, 1923.

Carolyn M. Stevens
Carolyn McGregor Stevens, 76, longtime resident of Denham Springs, La., died Sept. 24, 2000, at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville.
Visitation is 2 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster until services there at 3 p.m. Bro. James Pitt will officiate. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Gloster.
Mrs. Stevens was born Aug. 8, 1924, in Louisville, Ky. She was the daughter of Hollis McGregor and Minnie McGregor.
She was retired from Sears and Roebuck Co., where she worked in sales. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elton M. Stevens; and one daughter, Katherine Stevens Long.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Jan Stevens of Gloster; four granddaughters, Michelle R. Stevens of Arlington, Va., Andrea D. Long of Denham Springs, La., Carolyn Boze of Chesapeake, Va., and Lisa K. Guidry of Baton Rouge, La.; one great-grandchild, Brenden Long; and one sister, Ida Perkins.
Ceola W. Baker
Ceola W. Baker, 90, of Magnolia, died Sept. 25, 2000, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Baker was born Dec. 31, 1909.
