Constance B. “Connie” Embrey
Constance B. “Connie” Embrey, 75, of Coldwater, passed away on February 4, 2015.
A retired inventory clerk for Carters, Connie was the widow of Charles Roy Embrey. She is survived by three sons, Charles Roy Embrey Jr. of Hawesville, Ky., Thomas Michael Embrey of Independence, and James Morris Embrey of Dallas, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and the nine great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 7 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Southaven.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Shirley S. Hankerson
Shirley S. Hankerson, 79, retired Teacher of Coldwater High School, passed away on February 2, 2015.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 6 at 1:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in Coldwater.
She is survived by two sons, Reggy Hankerson of Horn Lake and Gerald Hankerson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Carolyn W. Rollins of New Albany; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Bobby Hatton
Bobby Hatton, 61, passed away Jan. 30, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy and Edward Hatton and his brother Don Hatton.
He is survived by his sister, Joy Hatton Wilkerson of Vaiden, Miss., his brother Ken Hatton (Brenda) of Independence, his nephews: Cade Wilkerson (Brittany), Kevin Hatton (Shannon), niece; Kendra O’Conner (Greg); great nephew, Lee Hatton and great nieces; Alden Clark, Elle Hatton, Alena O’Conner, Kacey O’Conner and Brianna Wilkerson.
Bobby was a member of the District #1 Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Crockett Church of Christ.
Memorials may be sent to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital or charity of choice.
Services were held Sunday, February 1, at 2:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Crockett cemetery.
Laparis N. Hibbler
Laparis N. Hibbler, 21, of Senatobia, passed away on February 3, 2015. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Independence-Tyro Church.
She is survived by her parents, Leathe Wallace and Norris Hibbler; grandparents, Lee and Earnestine Wallace; and a brother, Jenorris Hibbler of Senatobia.

David Lee Irby
David Lee Irby, 65, of Coldwater, Miss., passed away on January 28, 2015. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 7, at Ella Green M.B. Church in Arkabutla. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Lashell E. Johnson-Irby of Chicago, Ill.; sons, Decorion Irby of Nashville, Tenn., Lance Johnson, Dekel Irby, and David Irby all of Chicago, Ill., and Dominique Irby of Coldwater; and one grandson.
He was a member of Ella Green MB Church.

Van Leonard Irby, Jr.
Van Leonard Irby, Jr., 64, of Senatobia, Miss., passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – DeSoto in Southaven.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he was stationed in Korea during his time of service and was a longtime employee of the United States Postal Service in Sardis.
Mr. Irby is survived by his mother, Mary Meriwether Irby of Senatobia; two sisters, Cheryl Thompson (Bob) of Senatobia, and Vikki Damoth of Wetumpka, Ala.; one brother Gerald Irby (Jill) of Taipei, Taiwan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Van Leonard Irby.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 8, at Rose Hill cemetery in Sardis.

Patricia Lynn Jamison
Patricia Lynn Jamison, 51, of Senatobia, Miss., passed away February 5, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Memphis.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Jamison of Senatobia; daughter, Britney Michelle Jamison of Crenshaw; son, Timothy Wayne Jamison of Independence; mother Mary Legge of Senatobia; sister, Rebecca Holden of Coldwater; brothers, Jim Legge, Jr. of Grenada, Jeff Legge of Batesville, and John Legge of Senatobia; and one grandson, Luke Jamison.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Legge, Sr.
Mrs. Jamison was a loyal employee at Baptist Hospital for 33 years. She was a very thoughtful person. She always visited Tate County people when they were in the hospital and always had a smile for them. She was a little ray of sunshine.
Mrs. Jamison was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Coldwater.
A graveside service was held Saturday, February 7, at 12:00 p.m. at Bethesda cemetery in Senatobia. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
Winfred “Scottie” H. Poag
Winfred “Scottie” H. Poag, 84, Chief Master Sargeant, Retired, passed away on January 23, 2015 in Safety Harbor, Florida. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Florida National cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. with the Air Force Honors and Ceremony Team present.
Poag was born
on July 7, 1930 in Barr, Miss. to the late House Poag and Lizzie Poag.
He proudly served 30 years in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his loving wife, Fay Poag, and two daughters, Michelle Allen and Lori Poag.

Billy Ray Scott, 73, retired truck driver, of Coldwater, passed away on February 4, 2015. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 8 at Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home in Hernando. Burial followed in Sardis Lake Baptist cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Judy of Coldwater; daughter Renay Pulliam (Chad) of Coldwater; sons Jeff Scott (Shelly), Scotty Scott of Coldwater; sister Frances Grantham of Fayetteville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Blake, Jonathan, Jacob, Josh and Kasey.
Pallbearers were Blake Pugh, Jonathan Pugh, Jacob Scott, Josh Scott, Riley Zaunbrecher, and Wesley Bates.

Alsie Orr Ward, 86, of Como, Miss., passed away on February 1, 2015 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Ward, Sr., daughters Linda Martin, Patricia A. Ward; son, Frank Ward Jr.
She is survived by her daughters Barbara J. Norwood of Southaven, Glendora Ward Beard of Horn Lake, Jackie Doyle of Horn Lake, Sharon Ward of Como; sons, Rufus Norwood of Courtland, Alvon S Ward of Pineville, N.C., Vincent Ward of Como; sisters, Betty Gipson of Memphis, Ruby Webb of Branson, Mo.; brother, Edven Orr Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ.
Services were held Saturday, February 7, at 12:00 noon at St. James Church of God in Christ. Burial followed in Senatobia Memorial cemetery.

Sylvester L. Young, 54, police officer, of Coldwater, passed away on January 31, 2015. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 12 noon at Zion Hill M.B. Church.
He is survived by his spouse, Johnnie Young; daughters, Gwendolin Powers of Lake Cormorant, Cynthia Strickland of Como, Cartilla Scruggs of Memphis, Tenn., Stephanie Young of Como, Suresa Young of Como, and LaKeva Scruggs of Marrieta, Ga.; sisters, Marie L. Young and Bernita Smith both of Coldwater; brothers, B. J. Jackson of Senatobia, J. W. Jackson of Como, Henry Jackson Jr. of Coldwater, Andrew Young of San Antonio, Texas, Raney Young of Charleston, S.C., Lavern Young of Abbeville, and Robert Young of Junction City, Kans.; 22 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
