Charles Elroy Massey
Charles Elroy “Chuck” Massey, 59, began his journey to the spirit world on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 with his mother by his side at home in Keshena, Wis.
Chuck was born
July 26, 1955, in Keshena, Wisconsin to Joan (nee Blumreich) Massey and the late William H. Massey. Chuck spent his early years, on the Menominee Reservation, in Milwaukee, Wis., in Spruce, Wis., and in Greenleaf.
In 1967, he and his brother Butch moved to Mississippi to live with their father. Chuck graduated from Independence High School in 1972 and earned a degree in tool and dye making from Northwest Community College in 1974.
He worked for International Harvester as well as a conductor for the Illinois Central Railroad until retiring in 2000.
After retirement, he split his time between living in both Greenleaf, Mississippi and Keshena. He was very proud of his two daughters, Samantha Arrants, Pharm.D, a pharmacist in New Bern, N.C. and Rachel Massey, a special education teacher for DeSoto County School District in Hernando.
Chuck was very proud of his Menominee heritage and loved learning about the old ways, participating in sweats, and in AA meetings. He had a passion for collecting hats, many came as gifts from his friends and family.
An outdoorsmen, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding in the woods. As a railroad man, he loved telling stories of riding the rails. Chuck was loving, talkative, and opinionated, and made friends wherever he went.
Memories of Chuck will live in legend for years to come with those who loved him.
Chuck is survived by his daughters Rachel and Sam, his mother, Joan Lord of Keshena, his brother, William H. “Butch” (Lucy) Massey of Laws Hill, Miss., his two sisters Karen M. Jones of Kenosha, Wis. and Anna M. “Annie” (Tim) Jones of Burlington, Wis. He is further survived by his nephews Todd, Troy, Jason and Heath and his nieces Jamie, Tammy and Lauren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service was held for Chuck at the Greenleaf United Methodist Church at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13.

Dennis Pittman
Dennis Pittman, 40, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Como, Miss., passed away on March 31, 2015. Funeral services were held at Hunter’s Chapel MB Church on April 9 at 1 p.m. Burial followed in Hunter’s Chapel M.B. Church cemetery in Como.
He is survived by his daughter, Denisha McAdams of Holly Springs; son Dennis Pittman, Jr. of Coldwater; sisters Sherena Boyce of Senatobia, Sabriena Boyce of Southaven, Shanique Boyce of Como, Brenda Boyce of Como, and Shanquisha Boyce of Como; brothers Antonio Boyce of Como and Joshua Boyce of Vicksburg.

Deanna Davis Cagle Ray
Deanna Davis Cagle Ray, 79, of Cleveland, Miss., formerly of Senatobia, passed away on April 6, 2015 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, Miss.
Mrs. Ray was a Baptist. She was raised in Senatobia and married
to Boyce Cagle for 23 years and had five children.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, Jack and Daisye Davis.
She is survived by her companion Larry Ray, daughters, Deanna Cagle Halliburton of Cleveland, Gina Cagle Youngblood (Scottie) of Greenbrier, Ark., Tina Cagle Taylor (Jim) of Senatobia; sons, Glynn Cagle (Phyllis) of Ruston, La., Mark Cagle (Elizabeth) of Omaha, Neb.; 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, April 9, at 4:00 p.m. at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial followed in Bethesda cemetery.
Jewel Lee Segars
Mrs. Jewel Lee Segars, 85, passed away on Wednesday, April 08, 2015 in Marks. Family received friends at a catered reception on Saturday, April 11, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Kimbro Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. and interment followed at Marks cemetery.
Mrs. Segars was a retired supervisor from Barth MFG Co. in Marks. She also was the owner/operater of Segars Day & Night Convenience Store and a member of West Marks Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Potts (Johnny) Towery of Crenshaw, son William Terry (Penny) Potts of Senatobia; stepdaughters Carol (Kevin) Baker of Madison and Cindy (Pat) Bankston of Clarksdale; grandchildren Justin (Jennifer) Towery of Hamburg, Ark., Lee (Greg) Hissong of Arkabutla; five step - grandchildren Mary Susan (Wayne) Cobb of Cleveland, Valerie Bankston of Charleston, Chase Baker, Samuel Baker and Nathaniel Baker, all of Madison; six great grandchildren, Alexandra Towery and Lawson Towery of Hamburg, Ark., Hunter Hissong and Avery Hissong of Arkabutla, James William Potts and Jeweleigh Potts of Sardis and two step great-grandchildren Sara Chesley Cobb and Jax Cobb, both of Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Monroe Segars, parents W.B. (Boss) and Mittie Hood and grandson Wiliam Scott Potts.

James Cleavon Shorty, 51, forklift driver, of Coldwater, passed away on April 4, 2015. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Newall C.O.G.I.C. in Coldwater. Burial followed in Mt. Newall C.O.G.I.C. cemetery.
He is survived by daughters Kyeshia Shorty of Coldwater and Shunkeitha Shorty of Como; sons Fredrick Lark of Senatobia, Kendrick Shorty of Clarksville, Tenn., Anthony Summers of Olive Branch, and James Shorty of Coldwater; sisters, Valesia Shorty of Coldwater and Wanda Steveson of Coldwater; brothers Billy Shorty of Como, James Shorty III of Lawrenceville, Ga., Marvin Shorty Sr. of Coldwater, Patrick Shorty Sr. of Coldwater, Willie Shorty of Como, Gara Shorty of Coldwater, Steve Shorty Sr. of Coldwater; and eight grandchildren.
Ernesteen Nail Smith
Ernesteen Nail Smith, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at her home in Sardis.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sardis.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter and son, Becky Nail and Mike Nail, both of Sardis, and one brother, Buddy McCullough of Arkabutla.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Wayne Smith and Tom Nail; her parents, Ella Lee Manning and Robert McCullough, and four brothers, Cecil McCullough, Winton McCullough, Melvin McCullough, and Ed McCullough.
A memorial service may be held at a later date.

Arthur D. Williams
Arthur D. Williams, 61, of Coldwater, Miss., passed away on April 4, 2015. Funeral services were held at Central Ave. Church of Christ in Coldwater at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 11. Burial followed in Second Baptist cemetery in Coldwater.
He is survived by two daughters Kenyatta Williams of Coldwater and Ashley Williams of Memphis, Tenn.; sons Daryl Williams and Anthony Williams, both of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Janet Conard of Coldwater, Elaine Williams-Guy of Coldwater and Chronda Jones of Houston, Texas; four brothers Joel Williams of Birmingham, Ala., Douglas Williams of Memphis, Tenn., Terry Williams of Coldwater and Kenneth Normon of Como; and nine grandchildren.

Linda Coalburn
Linda Coalburn, 58, of Water Valley, Miss., passed away March 24, 2015 at Baptist Hospital Oxford. She is survived by her daughters, Anita Swain of Looxahoma, Sandy Blair of Sardis, Angela Dunn of Water Valley; sisters, Diane Beasley of Horn Lake, Carol Eubanks of Faulkner; brother, Larry Patrick of Horn Lake; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 28, at 3:00 p.m. at Bett Baptist Church. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
Lucky Faulkner
Lucky Faulkner, 68, passed away at his residence in Coldwater, on March 21, 2015. He worked for the Tate County Sheriff’s Department and he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Coldwater.
Lucky leaves his wife, Faye Faulkner of Coldwater; his daughters, Ronda Gurley of Coldwater, Faith Ann Truska of Marianna, Ark.; his sons; Kent Faulkner of Hernando, Keith Gurley of Ingrum Mills, and Lucky Faulkner of Coldwater. He also leaves his sisters, Peggy Tranvio (Don) and Shirley Williams (Mike) all of Ohio; his sisters-in-law, Joyce Faulkner and Hank Lawson; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Lucky was preceded in death by his parents, Ovie Orlando and Betty Maurine Faulkner and his brother, Ricky Faulkner.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Coldwater.

Jessie Jones Jr., 73, of Coldwater, passed away on March 21, 2015. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 28 at 12 noon at New Independence in Coldwater. Burial followed in the church cemetery
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Jones; daughters Fairnetta Hudson of Power Springs, Ga., Shawn Scott of Como, and Kelia Scott of Como; son Michael Jones of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters Leona Washington of Coldwater, Verline Artemus of Coldwater, Bertha Pitts of Detroit, Mich., and Ruth Davis of Pelham, Ala.; brother Vernnie Ray Jones of Coldwater; and five grandchildren.

Martin Luther Moss, Jr.
Martin Luther Moss, Jr., two days old, of Senatobia, passed away on March 19, 2015. Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 21 at 12 noon at Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater. Burial followed in Zion Hill cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Larissa Faulkner and Martin Luther Moss; and his grandmother, Rochelle Faulkner.

Sylvia Wadlington
Sylvia Wadlington, 80, of Sarah, passed away on March 23, 2015 at North Delta Hospice in Southaven.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Flohr (John) of Mo., and Pat Hissong (Michael) of Coldwater; sons, William Kelly Wadlington of Sarah, Michael Warren Wadlington of Akron, Ohio, Allen David Wadlington of Sarah; sister, Sharon Grooms of Ohio; brothers, Cliff Paulson of Chicago, Ill., Vern Paulson of Oakland, Tenn., and Unus Vocate of Idaho; 10 grandchildren and one great grandson.
A private memorial service will be held for Mrs. Wadlington.
