November 7, 1925 in Vaiden, the daughter of Johnnie and Alma Furguson Williams. She was owner of Wood’s Clothing and Wood’s Bows, and was a member of Derma Baptist Church. She was retired from Kellwood Manufacturing Co.

April 23, 1926 in Burnsville, the son of Henry Noble and Margaret Stokes James. He was a retired employee of Rockwell International, a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and American Legion. He was a WWII?Navy Veteran.

Roy E. “Pete”?McCrory, 64, of Calhoun City, died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born
August 13, 1944 in Memphis, Tn. He was self-employed, and was a member of Mississippi National Guard and Cherry Road Baptist Church in Memphis.

Jason Tutor, 31, of Bruce, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Calhoun Health Services in Calhoun City. He was born
June 7, 1978 in Tupelo. He was a 1996 graduate of Bruce High School. A member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, he attended Bruce First Baptist. He was an employee of Bruce Farm Supply, and was an avid sports fan and sportsman.
Rayford Mize
Rayford Leon Mize, 84, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Mississippi State Veteran’s Home in Oxford. He was born
in Paris to the late Ontis and Lee McGonagill Mize. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, who served during WWII. During his working life he was self-employed as a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of New El Bethel Baptist Church in Tula and the American Legion Hut in Water Valley.
Winnie Pettit

January 26, 1943 in Vardaman, the daughter of Raymond Spencer and Lorene Fleming Spencer and Annie Parker Spencer. She was a homemaker and member of Friendship Baptist Church.

James V. Weaver, 83, of Calhoun City, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at his home. He was born
July 4, 1926 in Chickasaw County, the son of Vollie L. and Iris Kathrine McCluney Weaver. He was a retired postal clerk and member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church and American Legion. He was a World War II and Korean War Veteran. He served in the Navy, the Army, and was retired from National Guard.
Gloria Gray
Gloria Fern Enochs Gray, 69, of Shelby died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Methodist Healthcare University Hospital in Memphis, Tn.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Broadstreet High School in Shelby with the Rev. Dr. Dennis J. Hawkins Sr. and Rev. Dr. Sterling King Jr. officiating. Burial will be Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Shady Grove M.B. Church cemetery in Vardaman under the direction of Byas Funeral Home of Cleveland.
Mrs. Gray earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Education from Rust College in Holly Springs. She earned a Masters from Delta State University. She retired in 2008 as a school teacher after having worked 35 years at Broad Street. After retirement she worked part-time for the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning as a college coach for junior and high school students in the Mississippi Delta.
Leon Lambert
Leon Lambert, 81, of Coldwater, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi in Ox-ford. He was born
June 17, 1928 in Burnsville, Ms., the son of H.R. and Maudie Marler Lambert. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corp, Rank CW04, serving during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a member of Antioch Lodge #549, and was a Shriner of the Sudan Temple in New Bern, NC.
Kenneth Baker
Services for Kenneth R. Baker, 70, of Greenville, MS, were held Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, at Bradford Chapel Baptist Church. Kenny was born
May 29, 1939 in Calhoun County to the late O.P. & Mattie Ellen Baker. He graduated from Eupora High School and from Delta State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Evelyn McVay
WIGGINS - Services were held at 10am, Friday, November 10, 2006 at Word Alive Revival Center on Hwy 49 for Evelyn McVay, age 73 of Wiggins who was called on November 7, 2006 to be with the Lord.
Burial was in the Magnolia cemetery in Lucedale with graveside service at 1pm.
Mrs. McVay was a licensed practical nurse and a member of Word Alive Revival Center Church.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Rev. L.Y. McVay of Wiggins; a daughter, Kimberly (David) Burge of Wiggins; four brothers, Leroy Frye of Satsuma, AL, W.E. Frye (Helen) of Wilmer, AL, Charles E. Frye (Nell) of Ozark, AL, Cecil R. Frye (Elizabeth); two sisters, Eva Lou Mallette of Mobile, AL and Daisy M. (Marvin) Blankinchip of Leakesville, MS and four grandchildren, Lacey, Mariah, Maranda, and Landon all of Wiggins.
Visitation was 6-9, Thursday, November 9 at the Church.
Coy R. Bond
PERKINSTON, MS - Mr. Coy R. Bond, age 80 passed away Monday, November 6, 2006 at Stone County Hospital in Wiggins. Mr. Bond was preceded in death by a son, Richard Bond; a brother, Charles Bond and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bond was a member of New Zion United Methodist Church. A retired carpenter in construction, Stone County Constable for 12 years, Beat 5, security guard for MS Gulf Coast Community College, Perkinston Campus for 16 years.
He is survived by a wife, Polly Bond of Perkinston; daughter, Faye Cooley of Perkinston; son, Ernie Bond of Perkinston; five grandchildren; and two brothers, James Bond of Wiggins and Dean Bond of Perkinston.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Moore Funeral Home in Wiggins with interment that followed at New Zion cemetery in Wiggins.
Moore Funeral Home in Wiggins was in charge of arrangements.
Frederick Napoleon Hill Parker
WIGGINS, MS - Mr. Frederick Napoleon Hill Parker “Pappy”, age 85 passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006 at home with his family. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents, UB and Emily Parker; nine brothers; two sisters and a son Freddie Parker. He was an electrician, Shriner, Mason and served in the Navy Seabees.
He is survived by his wife, Jean L. Parker of Wiggins; four sons, Harold, UB, Joe Ben and Mark; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 2pm at Moore Funeral Home in Wiggins.
Donations may be made to the University Medical Center, ATN: Dr. Dan Jones, 2500 North State Street, Jackson, MS 39216-4505, in memory of Frederick Parker.

Louise Fox was born
September 12, 1932 in Big Creek, to the late Ruthie Mae (Gaines)?Milton and Clifton Suggs. She was raised by the late Emma and Clarence Harris, whom she called “mom” and “dad.” She was also loved by the late Nathan Milton and her grandmother, the late Addie Hughes. Her sister, Rosie Mae Cole and Emma Arine Pass, preceded her in death.

November 4, 1992 in Grenada, MS to Mr. Tracy Brower. Lacey was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coffeeville, MS where she was active in the children and youth programs.
Merrell Pittman
Merrell Pittman, 91, of Gore Springs, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 at Calhoun?Health Services. He was born
January 18, 1918, the son of Edgar Lee and Jeffie Ray Pittman. He was a retired self-employed farmer and cattleman. He joined the Philadelphia Baptist Church in Webster County in 1935 where he sang in the choir and served as a deacon. He was also church clerk for 48 years. He was a Mason and a member of Mckee Lodge #488 in Slate Springs. He was a member of the Double XX Hunting Club for many, many years.
David Johnson
David A. Johnson, 88, of Vardaman, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009 at his home. He was born
June 2, 1921 in Morriston, Fl., the son of Snyder Sadock Johnson and Eva Pearl Simons. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, was retired carpenter, and served in the Army during WWII.
