Elizabeth Nettles, 72, of Sardis, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto in Southaven of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 2, at 11 a.m. at Rock Hill M.B. Church. Rev. James Buchanan officiated the service. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. had charge of arrangements.
Nettles, daughter of the late L.V. and Mary Petty, was born
June 29, 1930, in Sardis. She was a housewife and a member of Rock Hill M.B. Church.
Survivors include a brother, Isiah "Pete" Petty of Sardis.
Onidas, Classie Loveberry
Classie Loveberry Onidas, 54, of Como, died Friday, August 9, 2002, at her home of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 17, at noon, at Howard Chapel C.M.E. Church in Como. Burial was in Como cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Onidas, daughter of William Loveberry and Robbie Loveberry, was a housewife. She was a member of Howard Chapel C.M.E. Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary; D. Onidas of Senatobia and Karen J. Robertson of Como; two sons, Robert Loveberry of Memphis, Tennessee, and Christopher Onidas of Como; a step - son, Cottrell Onidas, Jr. of Memphis; five sisters, Maggie Loveberry and Barbara Loveberry Steel, both of Memphis; Classie Farmer, Mary Loveberry and Sharon Loveberry Covington, all of Como; four brothers, William Loveberry, Jr. and Dannie Loveberry, both of Memphis, Dallas Loveberry and James Loveberry, both of Como; and eight grandchildren.
Padgett, Herman Ray
Herman Ray Padgett, 50, of Batesville, died Friday, January 18, 2002, at his home of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 21, at 2 p.m. at Dickins Chapel. Rev. Reggie Herron officiated the service. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Padgett, son of Ethel Stacey Long of Atmore, Alabama, and the late Herman Richard Padgett, was born
November 30, 1951, in Atmore, Alabama. he was a construction worker and an U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
Survivors, other than his mother, include his wife, Linda Lucius Padgett of Batesville and Stephanie Faye Tinajero of Horn Lake; a stepson, Walter Stephen Sellers of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters, Cynthia Ann Doran of Ashford, Alabama, and Rosa Matthijetz of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Page, Michael Jr.
Michael Page, Jr., 21, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, April 5, 2002, in Milwaukee of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church in Enid. Rev. William Johnson officiated the service. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. had charge of arrangements.
Page, son of Michael Sr. and Margaret Page, of Milwaukee, was born
November 8, 1980, in Charleston. He was a security guard and a member of St. John M.B. Church in Charleston.
Survivors, other than his parents, include two sons, Michael Page, III and Traynn L. Page, both of Milwaukee; two sisters, Katrina Page and Beatrice Page, both of Milwaukee; a brother, Rickey Kirk of Milwaukee; grandparents, Ruthie Mae Blue of Charleston and Fred Lumas of Holcomb; and a special friend, Quitrina Johnson of Milwaukee.
Galimore, Pearl "Danny"
Pearl "Danny" Galimore, 84, of Batesville, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Graceland Nursing Home in Oxford.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 11, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Gillion M.B. Church in Sardis. Rev. Walter Newson officiated services. Interment was at Mt. Gillion cemetery in Sardis. Cooley's Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
Galimore, born
April 8, 1918, in Sardis, to the late Moses Montgomery and the late Shelley Hinds was a housekeeper and a member of Mt. Gillion M.B. Church in Sardis.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Felecia Long of Tampa, Fla; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Garrott, Emily Jane Otken
Emily Jane Otken Garrott, 83, of Batesville, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford of natural causes.
Services were Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Burial was at Batesville Magnolia cemetery. Rev. Don Bishop and Rev. Martin Case officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Garrott, born
March 20, 1920, to the late Dr. Luther Boyce Otken and the late Frances Hodges Otken, attended M.S.C.W. and graduated from the University of Tennessee where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority, a member of the D.A.R., P.E.O., a member of the First United Methodist Church in Batesville and a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband William Johnson Garrott and her sister Mary Otken Holms.
Survivors include two sons, Rev. John Garrott and wife Jennifer of Ocean Springs and Dr. Andy Garrott and wife Suzanne of Batesville; one brother Dr. Luther Boyce Otken, Jr. of Clarks Hill, S.C. and five grandchildren, Brian Downing Garrott, Joel Otken Garrott, Rebecca Garrott Thomas and husband Will, Lee Anderson Garrott, Jr. and Joshua Powell Garrott.

Roberta Jackson, 66, of Coffeeville, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of natural causes.

Nov. 5, 1937, was a housewife and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Jackson.
Survivors include her mother, Lillie Phillips; one daughter, Sarah Booker; and three sons, Eli Phillips, James Phillips, and Robert Phillips and 13 grandchildren.

Survivors include six daughters, Lois Roseborough of Senatobia, Tiwatza Anderson, Gail Brunt, Elenora Nelson, Anianda Jennings, all of Sardis and Jennifer Roseborough of Como; one son Coye Roseborough of Sardis; one sister Lillion Parker of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother Howard Webb of Sardis; one step-brother Mack Taylor of Como; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Joe, Denny W.
Denny W. Joe, 67, of Southaven, formerly of Marks, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis of cancer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 4, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale at 1 p.m. Burial followed in Marks cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Joe, son of the late Jimmie and Ock Jan Joe, was born
March 21, 1935 in Hong Kong. He was the retired owner of Jimmie's Grocery in Marks and Chinese Chef in Southaven.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille W. Joe of Southaven; two sons, Raymond H. Joe and Dr. Stephen W. Joe, both of Olive Branch; one brother Chiu Shun Wu of Clarksdale; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Christ of the King Catholic Church in Southaven, Trinity Baptist Church of Southaven or to the Chinese First Baptist Church in Cordova, Tenn.
Johnson, David Lindel
David Lindel Johnson, 75, of Batesville, died Tuesday, August 5, 2003, at his residence.
Services will be announced at a later time. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Johnson, born
Feb. 14, 1928, to the late David L. Johnson and the late Myrtle Hicks Johnson, was the manager for The State of Alabama Revenue Services, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa, Ala. and a veteran of WWII.
He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Johnson and his son David L. Johnson II of Batesville.
Survivors include one son Ken Johnson of Batesville.
Johnson, James R. Jr.
James R. Johnson Jr., 88, of Senatobia, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services were Saturday at the Senatobia Presbyterian Church. Burial was at Bethesda cemetery in Senatobia. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.
Johnson, a member of the Senatobia Presbyterian Church, was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army Medical Corps in the European Theater. His accomplishments include former mayor of Senatobia for 16 years, former alderman of Senatobia for 10 years, former chairman of the board of directors of Peoples Bank, long time member of the Senatobia Rotary Club - A Paul Harris Fellow, past President of Senatobia Chamber of Commerce, received the Municipal Hall of Fame Award, chairman of the Tate County Bi-Racial Committee, chairman of the Tate County Democratic Executive Committee, commissioner of the Strayhorn Creek Drainage District, Grand Marshall of the Senatobia Christmas parade and avid supporter of the Northwest Community College Fine Arts Program.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Johnson Gladney of Batesville and Judith Johnson Salter of Dawsonville, Ga.; one son James Richards Johnson III of Senatobia; and one brother Col. William P. Johnson of Raleigh, Tenn.; six grandchildren, one step grandchild; seven great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Moore Johnson.

Johnson, Shirley Ann "Shan" Seelig
Shirley Ann "Shan" Seelig Johnson, 76, formerly of Pope, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in her home in Fort Pierce, Fla. of heart failure.
Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Chapel Hill cemetery in Pope. Jimmy Bryant will officiate. Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Johnson, born
October 17, 1926, to August and Ida M. Sunby Seeling, was a retired technician with RCA Space Laboratories in Preston, N.J.
