Houston, Hubert
Hubert Houston, 65, of Batesville, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services were held Jan. 18, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Batesville. Interment was at Eureka cemetery. Rev. J. N. Mobley officiated services.
Houston, born
May 5, 1937 to the late J.D. Houston and the late Mattie Austin Houston, was a farmer and a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Batesville.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Henderson Houston of Batesville; two sons, Hubert Houston, Jr. of Batesville, and James Earl Houston of Courtland; five daughters, Rosie Armstead of Batesville, Lulla Lofton, Martha Turner, Dorothy Smith, and Sharon Williams all of Courtland; four brothers, John (Jr.) Houston of Batesville, James Houston, and Robert Earl Houston both of Memphis, Tenn., and Johnny Lee Houston of Jackson; five sisters, Eunice Henderson, Eva Young, Vergie Hamilton, and Cloetee Houston all of Batesville, and Annie Ruth Harris of Memphis, Tenn.; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Howe, Connie Lynn Cochran
Connie Lynn Cochran Howe, 42, of Pontotoc, died Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at Baptist East Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services are today at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Batesville. Burial is at Batesville Magnolia cemetery. Rev. Steve Cannon, Dr. Johnny Spencer and Rev. Tracy Quillian will officiate. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
Howe, born
March 15, 1961, to Wallace V. Cochran and the late Mary Rose Beackworth Cochran, was a registered nurse.
Survivors include her father Wallace V. Cochran of Batesville; her husband Burney Howe of Pontotoc; four sons, Michael Shane Howe, Caleb Seth Howe, Brandon Howe and Jonathan Howe, all of Pontotoc and two sisters, Betty Morrow and Barbara Ann Locke, both of Courtland.

Howell, Dorothy Lee Jarrett
Dorothy Lee Jarrett Howell, 84, of Potts Camp, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Hermitage Gardens in Oxford.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 10 a.m. at Temperance Hill Baptist Church. Bro. Roger Howell, Bro. Leonard Howell and Bro. Malcom Brock officiated the services. Burial followed at Temperance Hill cemetery in Potts Camp. Holly Springs Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Howell, daughter of the late Chester and Ora Gullett Jarrett, was born
July 18, 1918. She was a member of Adonai Baptist Church in Water Valley and a retired Wurlitzer factory worker. Her husband, Lawrence Howell, preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Eugene Howell of Batesville; one daughter, Elizabeth Brisco of Southaven; one brother, Harold Hood of Beebe, Ark.; four children and 14 great-grandchildren.
Hubbard, Dalton Burrow
Dalton Burrow Hubbard, 92, of Grenada, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at Grenada Living Center.
Services were Saturday, at 2 p.m. at Dickins Chapel with interment at Chapel Hill cemetery in Pope. Dr. Lee Hudson and Rev. Donald Estes officiated services. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Hubbard, born
Nov. 29, 1910, to the late Jim Hubbard and the late Mary Green Hubbard was a farmer and a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include four brothers, Dave Hubbard and Rodney Hubbard, both of Victoria, Texas, Harley Hubbard of Charleston, and Jerry Hubbard of Clarksdale; three daughters, Pearl Hill and Mary Ann Laney of Tillatoba, and Ella Guest of Drew; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Hubbard.

Christine Everette Hudson, 83, of Marks, died Thursday, August 21, 2003, at her residence.
Memorial services were Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Marks. Burial was at Batesville Magnolia cemetery. Dr. Walter T. Hudson officiated. Cooley's Mortuary had charge.

Roy Lee Hudson, 60, of Gore Springs, Miss., died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in his residence of cancer.
Services were Friday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Union Baptist cemetery in Sardis. Rev. Robert Hickey officiated services. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Larry Hughery, 50, of Chicago, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill.
Services were Saturday at Antioch M.B. Church in Courtland. Burial was at the church cemetery. Rev. Nathaniel Frieson officiated. Cooley's Mortuary had charge.

Aug. 31, 1953, to the late Alfred Hughery Sr. and Annie Mae Hughery, attended South Panola High class of 1973 and was a mechanic for Chrysler Corporation.
Survivors include his mother Annie M. Hughery of Batesville; one son DeLaron Crump of Batesville; two brothers, Alfred Hughery Jr. and Kent Hughery, both of Batesville; one sister Charlotte Walker of St. Paul, Minn.; two daughters, Latonia Matthews and Journey Tomeka Mark, both of Chicago, Ill. and one grandchild.

Antonio Quentin Hughes, 19, of Batesville, died Thursday, May 22, 2003.
Services were Thursday at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Batesville. Burial was at Batesville cemetery. Rev. J.N. Mobley officiated. Cooley's Mortuary had charge.
Hughes, born, Dec. 26, 1983, to Anthony Taylor and Shemar Hughes, was a student at South Panola High School and a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church.
Survivors include his mother Shemar Hughes of Batesville; his father Anthony Taylor of Denton, Texas; one brother MarQuise Hughes of Batesville; his grandparents Ruby and Paul Taylor of Clarksdale and his grandfather David Hughes of Trenton, N.J.
Hurt, Andrew Jr.
Andrew Hurt, Jr., 62, of Batesville, formerly of Flint, Mich., died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at his residence.
Visitation only was held at Cooley's Mortuary Chapel, Thursday, Feb. 20. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Chapel in Flint. Burial will follow in River Rest cemetery in Flint. Cooley's Mortuary, Inc. and Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home in Flint, Mich. have charge of arrangements.
Hurt, son of the late Andrew and Henrietta Bates Hurt, was born
April 21, 1940, in Memphis. He was a retired General Motors employee.
Survivors include his wife, Daphne Hurt of Batesville; two daughters, Felicia Rawls of Virginia Beach, Va., Janice Malone of Huntsville, Ala.; five sons, Andrew Hurt, II, of Batesville; Henry Lee Hurt, Tommy Lee Hurt and Anthony Hurt, all of Detroit, Mich., Andrew Henry Johnson, Jr., of Denver, Col.; one stepdaughter, Tekoa Brown of Flint; four stepsons, Chauntu Brown, Montez Brown, Deontae Brown and Terry Franklin, Jr., all of Flint; two sisters, Minnie Boose of Ionia, Mich. and Clemmie Washington of Flint; two brothers, Riley Hurt of Flint and Thomas Davis of Columbia, S.C.; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Sadie Mae Simmons Huston, 82, of Batesville, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven.
Services were Monday at Wells Funeral Home, Batesville, with interment at Crowder cemetery in Crowder. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Hutching, Willie Elizabeth
Willie Elizabeth Hutching, 70, of Sardis, died Jan. 3, 2003, at her home of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 6, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church. Rosary service was held Sunday, Jan. 5, at 7 p.m. Interment was at Rose Hill cemetery in Sardis. Father Jack Kurpas officiated services. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Hutching, born
April 22, 1932 to the late Joseph Allen Tigner and Becky Ann Bullard Tigner, was a homemaker and a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Danny Hutching of Hernando, and Jacob Trotter of Sardis; two daughters Rhonda Hutching of Sardis, and Donna Jones of Pope; one sister, Lee Taylor of Sardis; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Hutching.
Fisk, James E.
James E. Fisk, 54, of Duck Hill, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, in Durant of natural causes.
Services are today at New Hope Church in Coffeeville at 3 p.m. Burial is at New Hope cemetery. Rev. James Burrell will officiate. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home has charge.
Fisk, born
May 3, 1949, to the late Clayton and Ruby Rogers Fisk, was raised in a Baptist Church, was an outdoor sportsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include three daughters, Charlotte Ann Dillana of Burienette, Texas, Kathy Marie Williams of Tupelo and Tammy Fisk of Calhoun City; his sisters and brothers, Betty Byford, Bobbie Ellis, JoAnn Moore and Joyce Naramore, all of Grenada, Mary Martin, Cecil Fisk and Billy Fisk, all of Greenwood, Carolyn Hutchin, Nale Martin and Ester Rose, both of Batesville, Alice Pettway and Gary Fisk, both of Fortworth, Texas, Clayton Fisk of Winona and David Fisk of Nesbit; four granddaughters and a host of nieces and nephews.
