EIDSON
Jerry W. Eidson, 53, Macks Creek, died Jan. 15, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 5, 1949, in Macks Creek, a son of James and Nera Seaton Eidson. His mother survives in Macks Creek. He was married Aug. 16, 1968, in Macks Creek, to Mary Prettyman, who survives at the home.
He was a policeman and a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran.
Other survivors include: three sons, Dwayne Eidson, Camdenton, Adam Eidson and Jamie Eidson, both of Macks Creek; two brothers, Jim Eidson, Linn Creek, and Gary Eidson, Camdenton; two sisters, Judy Riley and Jannie Wallace, both of Macks Creek; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Macks Creek.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
DOYLE
Chester George Doyle, 71, Camdenton, died Jan. 16, 2003, at Lake Regional Health System.
He was born July 4, 1931, in Sapulpa, Okla., a son of Charles L. and Helen E. Childers Doyle. He was married Aug. 18, 1961, to Betty Lou Doyle, who survives at the home.
He was raised in Poteau, Okla., and later lived in Kansas City. In 1986 he moved to Camdenton, where he worked as a woodcutter. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Other survivors include: three sons, Charles Doyle, Springfield, Joseph Doyle, Camdenton, and Steven Doyle, Lebanon; one daughter, Eva Duermyer, Camdenton; one stepdaughter, Betty Teresa Hannon, Camdenton; two brothers, James Clarence Doyle and Charles Doyle, both of Poteau; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
No services are planned.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.
ZELLER
Edward A. Zeller Sr., 80, Linn Creek, died Jan. 16, 2003, at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.
He was born Dec. 30, 1922, in St. Louis, a son of Anton and Catherine Bohan Zeller. He was married Sept. 13, 1947, in St. Louis, to Gloria Dallman, who survives at the home.
He owned and operated Zeller Electric. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Camdenton. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Disciples in Mission Bible Study, the Bookworms, Lake Regional Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: two sons, Gregg Zeller, Siemore, and Edward Zeller Jr., Springfield; two daughters, Kathy Solovitz, St. Louis, and Karen McDavid, Desloge; two brothers, Mel Zeller and Robert Zeller, both of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Jefferson Barrack National Cemetery, St. Louis.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton, with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony's Catholic Church Building Fund or Lake Regional Hospital Auxiliary Radiation Cancer Center.
BECHTOLD
Harold W. Bechtold, 87, Kaiser, died Jan. 16, 2003, at Lake Regional Health System.
He was born Feb. 9, 1915, in Smith Center, Kan., a son of August F. and Lydia Koch Bechtold. He was married Oct. 15, 1939, in Osage Beach, to Juanita Faye Brown, who survives at the home.
He worked as parts and service manager for Crowell Distributing Company, Osage Beach. He was co-owner of Osage Market on the Bagnall Dam Strip, was a saw mill operator, worked construction, drove an ice truck and a school bus, farmed, and worked for Kraft Foods in Eldon. He was on the school board for the School of the Osage for 12 years. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church, where he was an ordained deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Other survivors include: four sons, Dale Bechtold, O'Fallon, Duane Bechtold, Plano, Texas , Scott Bechtold, Cape Girardeau, and Barry Bechtold, San Antonio, Texas ; one brother, Clarence Bechtold, Springfield; one sister, Margaret "Midge" Brown, Kaiser; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Riverview Baptist Church. The Rev. Chuck Phillips will officiate. Burial will be in Gott Cemetery, Ulman.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or to Riverview Baptist Church.
AMSBAUGH
Edward Paul Amsbaugh, 85, Topeka, Kan., died Jan. 17, 2003, at his home.
He was born April 13, 1917, in Abilene, Kan., a son of Carey and Ella Barber Amsbaugh. He was married Nov. 27, 1941, to Elizabeth Ruth Hunter, who survives at the home.
He graduated from Abilene High School in 1936 and from Washburn University, Topeka, in 1941. While at Washburn he played football, basketball and track, and was elected to the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984. He was a member of the Alpha Delta fraternity and the Sagamore honor society for senior men. He was a Navy lieutenant during World War II, serving in both Europe and the Pacific. He was president of the Amsbaugh Sporting Goods Co., a manufacturers representative, and was honored by the National Sporting Goods Association in Chicago. He retired to Topeka in 1990. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Topeka.
Other survivors include: two sons, Stephen Amsbaugh, Granby, Colo., and Charles Amsbaugh, Loose Creek; one daughter, Linda Coy, Jefferson City; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Topeka. Cremation is planned and the inurnment will be at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Washburn University Athletic Scholarship Fund or to the Stortmont Vail Hospice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka.
BISHOP
Olive Jane Bishop, 90, Jefferson City, died Jan. 16, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Aug. 3, 1912, in Warren, Ind., a daughter of Elmer and Cena Jackson Johnson. She was married Dec. 28, 1935, in Detroit, to Alvin C. Bishop, who died January of 1989.
She was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, Bridgeport, Ill., and the Vincennes School of Nursing, Vincennes, Ind. She also attended Charleston College, Charleston, Ill. She worked as a bookkeeper for A.C. Bishop Plumbing and Heating, Columbia, and the Missouri Public Safety Commission. She owned and operated the Townsman Motel, Kansas. She was a member of Woodcrest Primitive Baptist Church, Ashland.
Survivors include: one son, Harry Bishop, Bucheye, Ariz.; two daughters, Martie Perry and Janet Loethen, both of Lohman; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Gerald Scheperle will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.
CALL
Mary A. Call, 84, Eugene, died Jan. 17, 2003, at Jefferson City Manor Nursing Center.
She was born March 27, 1918, in Tuscumbia, a daughter of George T. and Sarah L. Rush Williams. She was married May 7, 1938, at Eugene, to William R. Call Sr., who died Oct. 10, 1998.
A lifelong area resident, she attended schools in Tuscumbia and Eugene. She was a member of the Hickory Hill Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Community and Farm Club and a past member of the PTO in Eugene.
Survivors include: seven sons, LTC (Ret.) William Call Jr., Jim Call, and Chuck Call, all of Jefferson City, Raymond Call and Mike Call, both of Henley, Ron Call, Eugene, and David Call, California; one daughter, Linda Hood, Eugene; 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Call in 1954 and Richard Call in 1993, and two grandchildren in 1993.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hickory Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Shane Crum officiating. Burial will be in the Hickory Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Freeman Mortuary and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hickory Hill Baptist Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Hickory Hill Baptist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
