WALLACE
Geneva Mary Wallace, 81, Jefferson City, died Jan. 14, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born June 13, 1921, near Ashland, a daughter of L.W. and Susie Cain Bennett. She was married Aug. 21, 1943, in Fulton, to John H. Wallace, who survives at the home.
She was a homemaker, a member of Concord Baptist Church, Jefferson City, and a past member of Carrington Baptist Church. She was a member of Extension Clubs and helped with 4-H clubs. She had lived in Fulton.
Survivors include: one daughter, Johnna Sue Tate, Jefferson City; one sister, Genelle Byington, Jefferson City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Monte Shinkle will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
CHAFFIN
William "Bill" Chaffin, 47, Linn Creek, died Jan. 13, 2003, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
He was born Aug. 30, 1955, in Zanesville, Ohio, a son of Don R. and Mary Chambers Chaffin, who survive in Mesa, Ariz. He was married April 16, 1999, in Camdenton, to Barbara Renner, who survives at the home.
He worked in the construction field and was a Navy veteran.
Other survivors include: two sons, Chad Chaffin and Donny Chaffin, both of Simi Valley, Calif.; one stepson, Josh Ondrovich, Linn Creek; one stepdaughter, Heather Ondrovich, Linn Creek; and one sister, Tina Monroe, Mesa, Ariz.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. The body will be cremated.
EWENS
Edith L. Ewens, 90, Fayette, formerly of Jefferson City, died Jan. 14, 2003, at her home.
She was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Woodlandville, a daughter of Joseph M. and Freda Rebecca Murray Street. She was married May 30, 1936, in Hannibal, to Albert Lee Ewens, who died Aug. 5, 1989.
She was a homemaker. She lived in Jefferson City from 1965 to 1989 and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She moved to Fayette in 1989, where she was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include: one son, William Lee Ewens, Blue Springs; two daughters, Doris Jean Pulido, St. Louis, and Carol Elaine Jeffries, Las Vegas; three brothers, Harold Street, Magnolia, Ark., and Elwood Street and Kenneth Street, both of Fayette; one sister, Grace Johnmeyer, Fayette; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Mary Ann Ferguson, and one grandchild preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Fayette. The Rev. Paula Ritchie will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Fayette.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday, both at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Fayette First Christian Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Carr-Yager Funeral Home, Fayette.
LINSENBARDT
Ernest C. Linsenbardt, 95, Jefferson City, died Jan. 15, 2003, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born March 7, 1907, in Lohman, a son of Julius C. and Babetta Pistel Linsenbardt. He was married Aug. 6, 1939, in Jefferson City, to Mary Louise Wagner, who died Nov. 23, 1974.
He attended the Stringtown School near Lohman and Coyne Electrical School, Chicago.
He was an electrician and owned and operated Linsenbardt Electric from 1942-1972, when he retired. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: one son, Richard E. Linsenbardt, Jefferson City; two daughters, Donna L. Linsenbardt and Linda K. Hasler, both of Jefferson City; one sister, Alma Brandenburg, Aztec, N.M.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City. The Rev. John Hobratschk will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.
SEALES
Milton D. Seales Jr., 62, Jefferson City, died Jan. 14, 2003, at his home.
He was born Dec. 26, 1940, near Tiff City, a son of Milton D. Sr., and Evelyn Ann Ruddick Seales. He was married April 2, 1960, to Edith Maxine Howard, who survives at the home.
He retired from the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department in 1994 after 32 years of service in the Joplin and Kansas City districts and headquarters in Jefferson City. He was co-owner and co-broker of Capitol Center Realty Inc. for many years. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church, Holts Summit. He served as state-wide president of the Highway Employees Association from 1977-1978, concurrently serving as legislative chairman from 1977-1981. He was a member of Missouri Retired Persons Association; AARP; Fraternal Order of Eagles; Blue Lodge 43 AFAF; NAR; East Side Betterment Association; and the Academy of Civil Engineers at the University of Arkansas. He was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He was active in Boy Scouts, Little League baseball, the United Sportsman Club and other youth-oriented groups.
Other survivors include: one son, Alan Jeffrey Seales, Jefferson City; one daughter, Marcelle Delores Brzuchalski, Jefferson City; one brother, Ross Seales, Olathe, Kan.; two sisters, Emma Doll Largent, Anderson, and Quanita Marie Foss, Beaverton, Ore.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Union Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. David Higgs will officiate. Entombment will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Union Hill Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
AUSTEEL
Ruth Kay Austeel, 72, Jefferson City, died Jan. 16, 2003, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 24, 1930, in Elston, a daughter of Byron E. and Carrie Castle Kay. She was married May 19, 1950, in Jefferson City, to Lennie Austeel, who died March 19, 1964.
A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, she attended Centertown School. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Oak View Living Center.
Survivors include: one daughter, Patsy Walker, Russellville, Ark.; one brother, Dwight Kay, Jefferson City; and one grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Freeman Mortuary. Chaplain Don Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Elston Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Saturday.
Memorials are suggested to the Ruth Kay Austeel Memorial Fund.
ALEXANDER
Gean Alexander, 85, Dixon, died Jan. 16, 2003, at Miller County Care Center, Tuscumbia.
He was born Sept. 24, 1917, near Iberia, a son of Wilks and Sophia Barnett Alexander. He was married June 7, 1938, in Miller County, to Gladys Rowden, who survives at the home.
He was a mechanic at Fort Leonard Wood and was a member of Arlington Lodge 364 A.F.&A.M., Dixon.
Other survivors include: one son, George Alexander, Dixon; one sister, Liellie Busquie, Cameron; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
One son, Donald E. Alexander, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Long-Gilbert Funeral Home, Dixon. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery near Dixon.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, with Masonic services at 7 p.m.
BUCK
Lowell W. Buck, 85, Climax Springs, died Jan. 14, 2003, at his home.
He was born Jan. 22, 1917, near Rothville, a son of Earl and Stacy Wisdom Buck. He was married July 15, 1938, in Chicago, to Pauline N. Kennedy, who died Nov. 12, 2001.
He worked for Forum Cafeteria in Chicago, moving to Kansas City in 1951, and working as a supervisor of the cafeteria for the Bendix Corporation. In 1968, he moved to Golden, Colo., and worked for ARA Corporation in Rocky Mountain Flats. In 1979, he moved to Climax Springs. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: two sons, Jim Buck, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Donald Buck, state of Oregon; one daughter, Linda Montgomery, Huntington Beach, Calif.; one brother, Russell Buck, Denver; one sister, Vivian O'Dell, Liberty; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Drennon Chapel near Climax Springs. The Rev. Tracy Carroll will officiate. Burial will be in Climax Springs Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Benton County Hospice.
