BLOEBAUM

John L. "Jack" Bloebaum, 86,  Jefferson City, died Aug. 23, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born March 17, 1916, in Mokane, a son of John H. and Sylvia Pierce Bloebaum. He was married June 10, 1934, in Fulton, to Frances P. Beatty, who died June 1, 2001.

A lifelong resident of the  Jefferson City area, he graduated from Mokane High School, where he was a member of the Boy Scouts. He was a farmer in the Mokane area for six years, during which time he was elected as a committeeman from the St. Aubert Township for the government farm program.

From 1941 until 1976, he was employed as a conductor for Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a conductor on the first Amtrak passenger train to serve St. Louis to Kansas City. He was also employed in sales with Roark Aluminum for 12 years. After retiring from the railroad, he operated a machinery and tool business in Overland, Mo., until his permanent retirement in 1989.

Survivors include: one son, Larry R. Bloebaum,  Jefferson City; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons: Francis Lee Bloebaum in 1989, and Jon Carroll Bloebaum in 1988; and one grand-daughter, Lynda Bloebaum, in 1983.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Freeman Mortuary.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Freeman Chapel. The Rev. Lawrence Veatch will officiate. Burial will follow in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are suggested to St. Marys Health Center.

AYRES

Myrle Winget Ayres, 85, Eldon, died Aug. 24, 2002, in  Jefferson City.

She was born May 2, 1917, in Barnett, a daughter of Ora M. and Bernice Myrl Goodman Winget. She was married May, 5, 1961, in Eldon, to James H. Ayres, who survives at the home.

She was a homemaker and was a member of Ninth Street Christian Church of Eldon. She was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher.

Other survivors include: two brothers, Howard Winget, Springfield, and Perrian Winget, Raymore.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ninth Street Christian Church, Eldon. Tom Farrington will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to Ninth Street Christian Church of Eldon, Mo.

McDOWELL

Edith Lucinda McDowell, 83, Iberia, died Aug. 23, 2002, at Miller County Care Center, Tuscumbia.

She was born Dec. 26, 1918, in Pulaski County, a daughter of Andy and Ova Prater Sauls. She was married Sept. 5, 1936, in Pulaski County, to Virgil P. McDowell, who survives at the home.

She was a homemaker.

Other survivors include: one son, Jack McDowell, Iberia; one brother, Hallie Sauls, Sedalia; one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Bro. Marvin Witt will officiate. Burial will be in Hawkeye Cemetery, near Crocker.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. today.

VARNEY

Monica Loys "Nikki" Muse Varney, 28, Holts Summit, died Aug. 24, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 6, 1973, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Travis L. Sr., and Roberta Jean Fowler Muse. Her mother, Roberta Douglas, and stepfather, Charles Douglas, survive in  Jefferson City. Her stepmother, Brenda Clements, survives in Holts Summit.

A 1992 graduate of  Jefferson City High School, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include: one daughter, Amanda Muse Douglas,  Jefferson City; two brothers, Travis Muse Jr.,  Jefferson City, and Dustin Clements, Raymondville; two sisters, Michelle Farris, DeSoto, and Cassandra Sistaita, Tulsa, Okla.; maternal grandmother, Geneva L. Bohannan,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. James R. Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Longview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Nikki Muse Varney Memorial Fund.

DUNN

Jane E. Dunn, 41,  Jefferson City, died Aug. 24, 2002, at her home.

She was born Jan. 28, 1961, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Ralph and Ellen Smith Whert-vine. Her mother survives in  Jefferson City. She was married Nov. 12, 1994, in  Jefferson City, to Roger L. Dunn Jr., who survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of the  Jefferson City area, she was a 1979 graduate of Helias High School.

She worked as an accounts representative with Scholastic, Inc., for the past 14 years.

Other survivors include: one son, William C. Dunn, of the home; one daughter, Elizabeth R. Dunn, of the home.; three sisters, Lucy Schulte, Lohman, and Sharon McQueen and Sara Tichelkamp, both of  Jefferson City; and maternal grandmother, Anna Smith, Kansas City.

One son, Jason M. Toebben, died April 19, 2001.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martins Catholic Church. The Rev. Ed Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Mortuary, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Missouri River Hospice.

DAVIS

MaryLea Nan Davis, 76, Vienna, died Aug. 24, 2002, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born June 17, 1926, in Vienna, a daughter of Bayard and Oma Ellen Hutchison Parker. She was married in 1944, in St. Louis, to Charles Ernest Williams, who preceded her in death. She was married in 1960, to George Johnson Davis Sr., who survives in Vienna.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vienna and TOPPS MO863.

Survivors include: two sons, Colonel Thomas J. Williams, Carlyle, Pa., and William Davis, Hillard, Ohio; five daughters, Sherry Ann Devine, Lakeland, Fla., Marilyn Ellen Stratman, Nevada, and Cynthia Lea Hollis, Barbara Jeanne Hollis and Peggy Lynn Wagner, all of Vienna, Jennifer Sue Crum, Robertsville; four stepsons, Johnson Davis, and Darrell Davis, both of Vienna, Danny Guy Davis, New Bloomfield, and Henry Davis, Freeburg; two stepdaughters, LaDonna Davis, Belle, and Rowena Uptergrove, Holts Summit; one sister, Virginia Buschmann, Vienna; and 21 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Vienna. The Rev. Karen Alden will officiate. Burial will be in Vienna Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kordes Funeral Home, Vienna.

ROST

Myron Charles Rost, 81, Morrison, died Aug. 24, 2002, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Morrison, a son of Charles and Adelaide Kuhlmann Rost. He was married Feb. 20, 1946, in Morrison, to Margaret Ann Thuli Rost, who died Aug. 19, 1999. He was married Sept. 30, 2000, in Morrison, to Alice Schweighauser Krykewich Rost, who survives.

He was a farmer. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Morrison. He was a member of the 4th Degree of Knights of Columbus, the Morrison Lions Club, and was past president of MFA Board of Directors of Morrison-Chamois. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Other survivors include: five sons, Charles Rost, Chamois, James Rost and Myron Rost, both of Morrison, Stephan Rost, St. Peter's, and Glennon Rost, Quincy, Ill.; two daughters, Annette Henley,  Jefferson City, and Angela Crenshaw, Holts Summit; one stepson, Hans Schweighauser, Hermann; one stepdaughter, Valerie Greene, Fresno, Calif.; three brothers, Medard Rost, Chamois, and Urban Rost and Alban "Hank" Rost, both of Morrison; 24 grandchildren; six step grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Two sons, Andrew Paul Rost and Edward Rost, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Assumption Catholic Church, Morrison. The Rev. Pat Dowling and the Rev. Fred Elskamp will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a wake service at 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, or to Masses.

Arrangements are under the direction of Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Homes, Hermann.

TRENT

Graveside services were today for Leta Trent, 91,  Jefferson City, who died Aug. 23, 2002, at Capital Health Center.

She was born Aug. 20, 1911, in Putnam County, a daughter of Franklin and Leosha Dodd Bills. She was married Oct. 1, 1932, in Putnam County, to Blaine Trent, who died Dec. 1, 1979.

She attended Lone Star School and had lived most of her life in Putnam County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter, Dixie Dickerson,  Jefferson City, one brother, Chester Bills, Nevada, Iowa, and two grandchildren.

Services were in Pherigo Cemetery, Unionville. Pastor Bob Francis officiated.

Memorials are suggested to Putnam County Care Center or the Methodist Library.

Arrangements were under the direction of Newman Funeral Home, Unionville.
