DUFFIN
Jeffries A. "Jeff" Duffin, 91, Vienna, died May 24, 2002, at his home.
He was born Jan. 9, 1911, in Vienna, a son of William and Rebecca Noblett Duffin. He was married Jan. 28, 1933, in Potosi, to Lottie Louise Finn, who died Nov. 14, 1984.
He started to work for the Maries County Bank in 1954 and was promoted to the position of cashier in 1968, serving in that position until 1992. He was chairman of the board of the Maries County Bank and chairman of the board of Bancorp, Inc. He was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church. He was a member of Coffey Brothers Memorial American Legion Post 12, was a former member of the Maries County R-1 School Board, serving as treasurer. He was also a member of the Vienna Lions Club and manager of the Vienna Girls Softball Summer League Team. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kay Eads and Sue Hollis, both of Vienna; one brother, Henry "Red" Duffin, Vienna; two granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.
One infant son, Donald Duffin, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Vienna United Methodist Church. The Rev. Karen Alden will officiate. Burial will be in Vienna Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.-noon Sunday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home in Vienna. Additional visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the church.

ALBERTSON
Helen Albertson, 75, Chillicothe, died at May 24, 2002, at Indian Hills Retirement Village, Chillicothe.
She was born December 23, 1926, in Chillicothe, a daughter of Dewey and Roberta Roney Runyon. She was married January 13, 1945, in Mineral Wells, Texas , to Delmas Albertson, who died May 19, 1991.
She was a 1944 graduate of Chillicothe High School. She lived in Chillicothe and Livingston County most of her life. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a longtime employee of Gaylen's Childrens Shop and a volunteer at the Chillicothe Senior Center.
Survivors include: two sons, Dennis Albertson, Chillicothe and Daryl Albertson, Jefferson City; two daughters, Katie Donoho, Chillicothe and Brenda Rardon, Trenton; one brother, Roy Runyon, Independence; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Burial will be in Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Foundation.
TURNER
Henry Buell Turner, 85, Chamois, died May 24, 2002, at Green Meadows Skilled Care Center, Linn.
He was born December 30, 1916 in Osage County, a son of Samuel and Mamie Waters Turner. He was married January 9, 1939, in Morrison, to Octavia H. "Dot" Hackman, who died Jan. 2, 2002.
He was a lifelong Osage County resident. He worked for the Osage County Highway Department for 35 years before his retirement.
Survivors include one son, Dorice B. Turner, Quartzsite, Ariz.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Chamois City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Funeral Home, Linn.
HESS
Bill E. Hess, 78, Versailles, died May 28, 2002, at Osage Beach Health Care Center.
He was born March 31, 1924, near Rocky Mount, a son of Everett and Nellie Sidebottom Hess. He was married April 22, 1947, in Versailles, to Thelma A. Gee, who survivors at the home.
He was a pharmacist technician at Conard Drug, Camdenton, for 16 years and for Camdenton Medical Center for 14 years.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624, Sunrise Beach; the 40/8; the Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705, Laurie; the Couples Club; and the First Assembly of God Church.
Other survivors include one brother, Donald Hess, Versailles, and one sister, Ruth Hill, Gravois Mills.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Todd Forman will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers' Foundation or the Elks National Foundation.
MORROW
Lorene V. Morrow, 81, Clayton, died May 24, 2002, at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights, Ill.
She was born Feb. 14, 1921, in Iberia, a daughter of Albert and Myrtle Blankenship Vaughan. She was married Aug. 5, 1940, in Salem, to Virgil Morrow, who died Nov. 25, 1978.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Church in St. Louis.
Survivors include: one son, Michael Morrow, St. Louis; one daughter, Jeanne McIlvain, Long Grove, Ill.; one sister, Thelma Brooker, Columbia; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. The Rev. Earl Skidds will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday and from 10-11 a.m. Friday.
PADGETT
Lola Lorene Padgett, 94, Fulton, died May 25, 2002, at Callaway Community Hospital, Fulton.
She was born Aug. 16, 1907, in Steedman, a daughter of George W. and Maude Mae Collins Dillon. She was married April 1, 1929, to Daniel Albert Padgett, who died Aug. 13, 1965.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Church of God Holiness of Fulton.
Survivors include: one son, Clyde Dean Padgett, Holts Summit; one daughter, Lois Faye West, Kansas City; two sisters, Gladys Martin and Opal Warfield, both of Fulton; one brother, Ennis Dillon, Fulton; nine grandchildren, great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Ruby Dollens, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Kenneth Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

WILLARD
Bill Don Willard, 71, Lebanon, died May 27, 2002, at St. John's Regional Health Center.
He was born July 29, 1930, near Sleeper, a son of Don N. and Ruby Virginia Evans Willard. He was married Aug. 15, 1949, to Louise Irene Potter, who survives at the home.
He graduated from Stoutland High School in 1947. He worked on a pipeline in Texas , returning to Missouri to work in the excavation business. In 1973, he founded Willard Asphalt and Willard Quarries near Sleeper. In 1978, he established Lebanon Ready Mix. He founded the I-44 Speedway near Lebanon in 1982 and the USA Speedway near Bolivar in 1988. He was a member of the NASCAR Association and the Missouri Limestone Association. He served on the board of directors of Central Bank. He was a member of Sleeper United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Bradley Willard and David Willard, both of Sleeper; four daughters, Candy Harmon and Mary Williams, both of Lebanon, Susan Foster, Springfield, and Kim Amsinger, Marshfield; two brothers, Wayne Willard and Bob Willard, both of Sleeper; and 12 grandchildren.
One infant son, Billy Don Willard Jr., preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. The Rev. Bob Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Sleeper United Methodist Church.
SMITH
Services were today for Roy W. Smith, 92, Barnett, who died May 27, 2002, in Belleville, Ill.
He was born July 7, 1909, in Okolona, Miss., a son of Howard and Ema Sumner Smith. He was married to Beulah Smith, who preceded him in death. He was married to Alma D. Smith, who preceded him in death. He was married to Ruby S. James Smith, who preceded him in death.
He was a mechanic in the automotive industry.
Survivors include one sister, Christine Robinson, Belleville, and four half brothers, Jimmy Smith, Charles Smith and Billy Smith, all of Okolona, and Johnny Smith, Aberdeen, Miss.
Services were at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. James Hedrick officiated. Burial was in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.
BRANT
Louise M. Brant, 97, Tipton, died May 28, 2002, at Tipton Manor Rest home.
She was born Aug. 14, 1904, in Tipton, a daughter of Louis and Rose Becker Imhoff. She was married June 21, 1926, in Tipton, to H.C. Brant Jr., who preceded her in death.
She was a lifelong resident of the Tipton community. She worked as a switchboard operator for United Telephone Company for many years and also worked for Tipton Manufacturing Company. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and the St. Andrew's Altar Society in Tipton.
Survivors include: one son, Charles Brant, Lohman; one daughter, Pat Bestgen, Tipton; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
One son, Kenneth Brant, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tipton. The Rev. Henry Reichert will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. There will be an Altar Society rosary at 3 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
