ANDERSON
Vinton H. Anderson, 95, Joplin, formerly of Jefferson City, died April 30, 2001.
He was born March 12, 1906, in Neosho, a son of Thomas R. and Mary Agnes Cline Anderson. He was married Sept. 6, 1926, to Stella Lorene Hosp, who survives.
He retired from Missouri Power and Light Company in Jefferson City. He was a professional engineer and registered land surveyor.
He wrote three novels. He also wrote poems and essays.
Other survivors include: two sons, Harold E. Anderson, Louisville, Ky., and Donald R. Anderson, Dallas, Ga.; one brother, Roy B. Anderson, Clearwater, Fla.; one sister, Velma E. Jeffries, Carthage; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Webb City.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today at Simpson Funeral Home, Webb City.
Memorials are suggested to the Webb City First Baptist Church Building Fund.
BUSKE
LeRoy Buske, 79, Lebanon, formerly of Jefferson City, died April 29, 2001, at his home.
He was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Litchfield, Ill., a son of Rudolph A. and Mary E. Schoen Buske. He was married May 17, 1945, to Anna Rita Leitschuh, who survives at the home.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he moved to Jefferson City in 1960 and managed West Gate Lanes. He moved to Lebanon in 1971 and purchased Starlite Lanes. He bowled on the Pro Bowlers Tour for 16 years and was inducted into the Missouri Bowling Hall of Fame in 1988. He was a member of Christian Life Fellowship, Lebanon.
Other survivors include: two sons, Ronald L. Buske, Lee's Summit, and John E. Buske, Laurie; three daughters, Rita R. Thacker and Nancy Allen, both of Lebanon, and Judith M. Amos, Falcon; two sisters, Annie Mueller, Tampa, Fla., and Alma Schmidt, Litchfield, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. The Rev. Don Sing will officiate. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Elm Lawn Memorial Gardens, Litchfield, Ill.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Christian Life Fellowship.
GRIGGS
Richard H. Griggs, 94, Sedalia, formerly of Clarksburg, died April 30, 2001, at Four Seasons Living Center, Sedalia.
He was born Feb. 15, 1907, in Barnard, a son of Martin L. and Anna Dieterich Griggs. He was married June 5, 1965, in Trenton, to Bertha A. Griggs, who died Dec. 27, 1998.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a self-employed carpenter.
He is survived by one sister, Frances Fogarty, Kansas City.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Roy Sparks will officiate. Burial will be in LaPlata City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
OTTO
Paul J. Otto, 88, Linn, died May 1, 2001, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.
He was born July 19, 1912, in Osage County, a son of John J. and Agnes Huesgen Otto.
He attended St. George School. A lifelong resident of Osage County, he was a farmer. He was a member of St. George Church, Linn.
He is survived by one sister, Cecilia Lehmen, Linn.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn. The Rev. Paul Hartley will officiate. Burial will be in St. George Parish Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to St. George Church.
PETTYJOHN
William C. Pettyjohn, 87, Gravois Mills, died April 27, 2001, at Laurie Care Center.
He was born May 26, 1913, in Talmo, Kan., a son of Lidia and Charles Pettyjohn. He was married May 7, 1939, to Valera Amelia Smith, who preceded him in death.
He owned and operated Ridgewood Resort at the Lake of the Ozarks for several years before retiring.
Survivors include: one sister, Martha Johnson; and two brothers, Carl Pettyjohn and Ralph Pettyjohn.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery, Laurie. The Rev. Sidney Robbins will officiate.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.
ROSS
Rebecca Jo Ann Ross, 61, Eldon, died April 28, 2001, in Osage Beach.
She was born Aug. 16, 1939, in Modesto, Calif., a daughter of Reece and Lucille Spivey. She was married Sept. 15, 1977, in Fort Worth, Texas , to Kenneth John Ross, who survives at the home.
She was active in motel management in Fort Worth and apartment management in Indianapolis.
She retired in 1977.
Other survivors include three daughters, one sister and six grandchildren.
Her remains will be cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
WALKER
Azalea Ann Belt Walker, 72, Anabel, died April 29, 2001, at Loch Haven Nursing Home, Macon.
She was born March 7, 1929, in Sue City, a daughter of Madison E. and Hazel Wilson Belt.
She attended LaPlata High School, LaPlata, and was a graduate of Truman State University, Kirksville. She was a member of First Christian Church of Clarence; Chapter BZ, P.E.O.; "March Hares"; 19-Club; Order of the Eastern Star, LaPlata; Prairie Dale Club; and Laurete Chi.
She was a board member of LaPlata State Bank and served on the Welfare Advisory Board of Macon County.
Survivors include: two sons, Nathan Belt Walker, Jefferson City, and Kemper Vest Walker, Anabel; one daughter, Sally Lea Walker, Dallas; one brother, Wilson Belt, LaPlata; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home, Macon. David Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in LaPlata Cemetery, LaPlata.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Clarence Christian Church.
SCHEDLER
Carol R. Schedler, 60, Jefferson City, died May 1, 2001, at Jefferson City Manor Care Center.
She was born March 9, 1941, in Creighton, a daughter of Joel C. and Sarah M. Parsch Schedler.
She was a 1961 graduate of Stover High School.
She was a babysitter/caretaker for Home Health Care from 1968 until she retired in 1975.
She also was a volunteer at the Heisinger Lutheran Home.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Trinity Lutheran Evening Guild and the Trinity Lutheran Mixed Choir.
Survivors include: five brothers, Donald E. Schedler, Cameron Park, Calif., Edgar P. Schedler, Jefferson City, Marvin J. Schedler, Cary, N.C., Victor E. Schedler, Little Rock, Ark., and Wayne A. Schedler, Lexington, Ky.; and one sister, Lois M. Michael, Jefferson City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church. Pastor Tony Alter and Pastor Alvin H. Lange will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Stover.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Bethesda Lutheran Home, Watertown, Wis., or to the charity of the donor's choice.
DECKER
John Isom Decker, 68, Tebbetts, died April 29, 2001, at Callaway Community Hospital.
He was born Dec. 21, 1932, in Arcola, a son of Isom and Charlia Heaton Decker.
An Army veteran, he was self-employed.
Survivors include: one son, Jeff Hull, Lockwood; one daughter, Lynda Sequichie, Pryor, Okla.; three sisters, Genevieve Tobiasson, California, Laura Decker and Ruth Taylor, both of Missouri; six brothers, Les Decker, Russell Decker and Frank Decker, all of Missouri, Fred Decker and Jess Decker, both of the state of Kansas, and Davey Decker, state of Texas .
His body was cremated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.
