OTTINGER

David L. Ottinger, 52,  Jefferson City, died Jan. 1, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Nov. 21, 1948, in Warrensburg, a son of James L. and Mary E. Gibler Ottinger. His parents survive in  Jefferson City. He was married June 25, 1977, in  Jefferson City, to Nancy R. Campbell, who survives at the home.

A life-long resident of the  Jefferson City area, he was a 1967 graduate of  Jefferson City High School. He graduated from Southwest Baptist University, Bolivar, with a bachelor's degree in education. He received a master's degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

He taught in Rich Hill for one year. He was employed with  Jefferson City Public Schools for 25 years until his retirement in 1998. He taught at Cedar Hill Elementary School for 23 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Cole County Area Retired Teachers Association, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Missouri National Education Association and the National Education Association.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Doyle Sager will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church or Leukemia research.

PRALL

Mary Jane Prall, 57,  Jefferson City, died Dec. 28, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born March 24, 1943, in Sedalia, a daughter of William J. and Maude Fisher Yost. She was married in Sedalia to Arthur Clifford Prall, who preceded her in death.

She was employed in the cafeteria of the Truman State Office Building.

Survivors include: three sons, Scott Prall and Mark Prall, both of Columbia, and Mike Prall, Moberly; and one brother, Kenneth Yost, Hannibal.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Longview Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

SIMPSON

Earl G. Simpson, 85, California, died Jan. 1, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Feb. 17, 1915, in Barnett, a son of George A. and Lola R. Gracy Simpson. He was married in 1941 to Helen Morris who died in 1993. He was married in 1995 to Kathryn L. Voigt Sack, who survives at the home.

He graduated from California High School in 1932. He co-operated a Mobile gas station on the corner of Hwy. 50 and 87. After selling the station, he worked in Kansas City as a transport driver for Mobil Oil.

A World War II veteran, he was an agent for Mobil Oil until his retirement in 1975. After retirement, he raised cattle on a farm near High Point. He was a 50-year member of California Lodge 183 A.F. and A.M., VFW Post 4345, California, and the American Legion. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, McGirk.

Other survivors include: three stepdaughters, Shirley Perreault, Katy, Texas , Connie Sack, North Kansas City, and Rita Henley, California; one brother, James Simpson, McPherson, Kan.; one sister, Lucy Papen, High Point; seven step grandchildren; and eight step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Gary Schulte will officiate. Burial will be in High Point Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with a VFW service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to High Point Cemetery Fund, Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery Fund or California Nutrition Center.

SON

Joan M. Son, 64,  Jefferson City, died Dec. 30, 2000, at Capital Health Care Center.

She was born March 22, 1936, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Basil E. and Marie A. Kliegel Son. Her parents survive in  Jefferson City.

She attended St. Peters School.

Other survivors include two sisters, Mary Bonine, Centertown, and Debra Son,  Jefferson City, and one brother, Richard Son, Holts Summit.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Ed Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association; P.O. Box 1013, Columbia, Mo. 65205.

TATUM

Maude Sarah Tatum, 89,  Jefferson City, died Dec. 31, 2000, at Oakview Skilled Care Center.

She was born July 2, 1911, in Iberia, a daughter of William A. and Violet Mae Williams Driver. She was married Feb. 11, 1933, in Centertown, to Amos Milton Sears, who preceded her in death. She was married Jan. 28, 1961, in  Jefferson City, to Robert Tatum, who died Oct. 7, 1998.

She worked as a housekeeper for the William H. Weldon family. She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she was on the usher board and Mission Circle.

Survivors include: one daughter, Darleen Goldston, Atlanta; three sons, Bob Sears, Washington , D.C., Harold Sears, Kansas City, and Amos Sears, Fairfield Calif.; two stepsons, Robert Tatum III and Levester Tatum, both of Sunrise, Fla.; five sisters, Grace Tyree, Omaha, Neb., Blanche McKenzie, Los Angeles, Gladys Holmes, Kansas City, Kan., Gertrude Rolen, St. Louis, and Minnie Fulcher,  Jefferson City; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Three sons, Dennis Sears, Harvey Sears and Joe Sears, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church. The Rev. Cornell C. Sudduth Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Second Baptist Church.

JACOBS

Virginia L. Jacobs, 90, Lohman, died Jan. 1, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 19, 1910, in St. Martins, a daughter of Henry C. and Leona Gratz Meller. She was married April 22, 1930, in  Jefferson City, to Frank Joseph Jacobs, who died Feb. 17, 1977.

She attended St. Martins School and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Martins Catholic Church, St. Martins, the Ladies Sodality, the Ladies Quilting Club and the Fifty Plus Club at St. Martins.

Survivors include: three sons, John Jacobs, Robert Jacobs and Henry Jacobs, all of Lohman; six daughters, Marilyn Keller and Lucy Bennett, both of Lohman, Shirley Forck, Benton, Ethel Bernskoetter, Henley, Vernie Eichholz, Westphalia, and Betty Harrison, Fulton; one sister, Irene Welch, Lohman; three half sisters, Kathryn Baundendistle and Bernadine Thomas, both of St. Louis, and Martha Stark, Centertown; 32 grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Anna Marie Jacobs, who died Feb. 19, 1931, and one grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Martins Catholic Church. The Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Martins Parish Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Buescher Memorial Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Martins Catholic Church or St. Martins School.

KNAEBEL

Barbara L. Knaebel, 66,  Jefferson City, died Jan. 2, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Eugene, a daughter of Vasca and Oloie Buster Thompson. She was married Nov. 13, 1964, in Shreveport, La., to Edward Paul Knaebel Sr., who survives at the home.

A graduate of Eugene High School, she worked as a telephone operator for more than 40 years at Bell Telephone Company, United Telephone Company and Sprint. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Other survivors include: three sons, Edward P. Knaebel Jr.,  Jefferson City, Jim Knaebel, Kansas City, and Robbie Knaebel, Russellville; one daughter, Patty Kaegy, Greenville, Ill.; two sisters, Lorice Shirley,  Jefferson City, and Bernice Adcock, Eldon; and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Bob Buster will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

MARSH

William G. Marsh, 76,  Jefferson City, died Dec. 31, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born April 4, 1924, in Osawatomie, Kan., a son of Robert and Mary Alice Protzman Marsh. He was married in 1944 to Arline Mantle, who died in 1967. He was married in 1969 to Carrie Sidebottom, who died in 1980. He was married June 16, 1982, in  Jefferson City, to Mable P. Beggs-Frederickson, who survives at the home.

He was a graduate of Linn High School, Linn. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a barber. From 1954 to 1983, he owned and operated White House Barber Shop, where he continued to work until 1996.

He was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church, VFW Post 1003, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693, American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5, the Lions Club and the Barbers Union.

Other survivors include: one son, William G. Marsh Jr., Azle, Texas ; four stepsons, Robert Sidebottom,  Jefferson City, Charlie Marsh, Wadsworth, Ohio, Daniel Frederickson, Ventura, Calif., and John Frederickson, Kansas City; two stepdaughters, Joyce Terry,  Jefferson City, and Judy Mallicoat, Tightwad; one brother, Robert Marsh, Nixa; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Cellis Crum will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to Spring Valley Baptist Church.

SANNING

Anthony John "Tony" Sanning, 68, Taos, died Jan. 2, 2001, at his home.

He was born July 5, 1932, in  Jefferson City, a son of Albert H. and Julitta Elizabeth Forck Sanning.

An Army veteran, he worked with Central Hatchery. He was a member at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos, where he was a communion minister. He was a custodian at the church and St. Francis Xavier Catholic School. He also served as sexton of the church cemetery.

After retiring, he worked for Taos Corner Restaurant.

Survivors include five sisters, Jane A. Boeckman, St. Martins, Albertha M. Schepers and Dorothy H. Sanning, both of St. Louis, Lois A. Bonnot,  Jefferson City, and Freida M. Krogstad, Holts Summit.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. J. David Maher will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School or Church.

STILWELL

Helen Stilwell, 67, Iberia, died Jan. 1, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

She was born July 21, 1933, in Allamakee County, Iowa, a daughter of Henry E. and Marie Lillian A'Hearn Martin. She was married Dec. 3, 1951, in Waukon, Iowa, to Falby "Bud" Stilwell, who died Aug. 15, 1992.

She moved to Iberia from Cedar Falls, Iowa, in 1982.

Survivors include: one son, Steven Stilwell, Germany; three daughters, Barbara Marshall, New Windsor, N.Y., Pamela Toomey, Kyle, Texas , and Lisa Silverson, Iberia; three sisters, Mary Mohwinkle, Marion, Iowa, Arlene Soderberg, Chicago, and Shirley Murphy, San Diego; four brothers, Francis Martin, Waukon, John Martin, Hoopston, Ill., Claire Martin, Cedar Rapids, and Jerry Martin, Huntington, Ind.; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Clarence Wiederholt will officiate. Burial will be in Madden Cemetery, near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Madden Cemetery Fund.
