BOYCE
Ron Boyce, 62, Jefferson City, died March 23, 1999, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
He was born July 21, 1936, in Jefferson City, a son of Amil P. and Lois V. Robinett Boyce. His father survives in Columbia. He was married March 5, 1982, in Laporte, Colo., to Jeri Griffith, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, he attended Jefferson City public schools and was an Army veteran. He owned and operated R. Boyce Inc., a mechanical contracting company, since 1972.
He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and a 20-year member of the board of directors of the Missouri Golf Association. He was a member of the national committee of the United States Golf Association. He was a member of the Jefferson City Country Club, where he served as chairman of the grounds committee.
He played in the United States Senior Open as an amateur, and played twice in the United States Senior Amateur Open. He also played in other local, state and national tournaments and was active in junior golf programs throughout the state.
Other survivors include: one son, Michael Ron "Opie" Boyce, Holts Summit; two daughters, Kim Mahin, Staunton, Ill., and Laurie Peters, Loose Creek; two stepsons, Todd G. Awe, Dallas, and Lance R. Awe, Van Alstyne, Texas ; one sister, Mae Lightfoot, Columbia; two brothers, J.D. Boyce, Olathe, Kan., and Dewayne Boyce, Jefferson City; and 16 grandchildren.
One daughter, Sharla R. Boyce, died June 12, 1992.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. Allen Speer will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Ron Boyce Junior Golf Scholarship Fund.
ENGLISH
B.J. English, 49, Eldon, died March 22, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.
She was born Jan. 16, 1950, in Tuscumbia, a daughter of Noel and Roxie Leona Morrow Robinett. She was married Nov. 29, 1986, in Lakeside, to J.D. English, who survives at the home.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Other survivors include: two sons, Blu Brown and Leslie Brown; two stepsons, Jay English and David English; one stepdaughter, Dawn English; one brother, Leslie Robinett; six sisters, Mary Barnhart, Margie Forbis, Alice Ash, Debbie Davenport, June Kaiser, and Cindy Colvin; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. Burial will be in Robinett Cemetery, Brumley.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.
LAWRENCE
John O. Lawrence Sr., 66, Fulton, died March 21, 1999.
He was born May 15, 1932, in Reform, a son of Floyd and Madonna Perry Lawrence. He was married June 1, 1955, to Marcella Estes, who survives at the home.
He was an insurance agent since 1961 and operated the Lawrence Insurance Agency, Fulton. He was a member of the Kingdom of Callaway Chamber of Commerce.
Other survivors include: one son, John Lawrence Jr., Platte Woods; one daughter, Laura Reed, Columbia; six brothers, Charles Lawrence and James Lawrence, both of Fulton, Elmer Lawrence, Kansas City, Norman Lawrence, Phoenix, Ariz., Kenneth Lawrence, Bismarck, and Curtis Lawrence, Moberly; and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. Bruce Williamson will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
NEWTON
Minnie Kathryn Newton, 91, Jefferson City, died March 22, 1999, at her home.
She was born June 11, 1907, in Linn, a daughter of Buddy and Bettie Eickhoff Reynolds. She was married May 15, 1926, in Jefferson City, to Carl E. Stone, who died April 11, 1953. She was married May 26, 1961, in Jefferson City, to Roy B. Newton, who died May 13, 1982.
She attended schools in Kansas City and was a homemaker. She was employed at Tweedies Footwear Corp. and at Stokes Electric for 30 years until her retirement in 1983.
She was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include: one son, Ralph Stone, Jemez Springs, N.M.; one daughter, Jean A. Zimmerman, Jefferson City; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Hazel L. Schenewerk, died Dec. 16, 1970.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church. The Rev. Larry Veatch will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.
NOBLE
Mary Noble, 89, Jefferson City, died March 21, 1999, at Jefferson City Manor Care.
She was born June 11, 1909, in Montgomery City, a daughter of William and Siana Carter Jennings. She was married in 1931 to L.M. Noble, who preceded her in death.
A former resident of Columbia, she graduated from Douglas High School, Columbia.
Survivors include one sister, Anna M. Hazard, Jefferson City, two grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
One son preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Warren Funeral Chapel, Columbia. The Rev. Michael Flannagan will officiate.
TUCKER
Emerson E. "Gene" Tucker, 67, Jefferson City, died March 22, 1999, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
He was born Sept. 4, 1931, a son of S.A. and Vina Frances Biggs Tucker. He was married Dec. 19, 1980, in Jefferson City, to Venice M. Stewart, who survives at the home.
A former Dexter resident, he was in the furniture business in Dexter.
He retired from the Army National Guard in 1990 as a chief warrant officer. He was in civil service for 20 years and was a guardsman for more than 41 years.
Other survivors include: three sons, Randall Tucker, Holts Summit, Carl D. Tucker, Americus, Ga., and Charles Christopher Tucker; one daughter, Debora Lynn Galloway, Collierville, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Donna G. Merritt, Columbia; one stepson, Anthony B. Charles, Jefferson City; and four grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date. The remains were cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Weber and Sons Funeral Home, Russellville.
ARBUCKLE
Mary L. Arbuckle, 87, Jefferson City, died March 23, 1999, at Capital Health Care Center.
She was born July 26, 1911, in Argyle, a daughter of Robert E. and Ada C. Johnson Phillips. She was married Oct. 27, 1927, in Jefferson City, to Orville H. Arbuckle, who died Feb. 26, 1986.
A lifelong resident of Jefferson City, she attended Jefferson City public schools.
She is survived by two sisters, Emma Frances Pauley, Jefferson City, and Helen Mertens, Minneapolis.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Ted Huston will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Freeman Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Mary Arbuckle Memorial Fund.
BELL
Ruth A. Bell, 80, Lebanon, formerly of Camdenton, died March 22, 1999, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.
She was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Eagle River, Wis., a daughter of Andrew J. and Bell Delany Marlowe. She was married June 19, 1942, in Seattle, to Edward Bell, who died Jan. 28, 1981.
She had lived in Camdenton since 1955 and moved to Lebanon in 1984. She was employed with Sundstrand Tubular Products Inc. until her retirement. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Restoration.
Survivors include: three daughters, Arna Payne, Betty Lynn Montoya, and Janis Lee Gregory, all of Lebanon; two sisters, Julia A. Moon, Eugene, Ore., Jean H. Bowman, Baker City, Ore.; four brothers, Sonny Marlowe, La Grande, Ore., Paul E. Marlowe, Durkee, Ore., Larry A. Marlowe, Seattle, and Charles H. Marlowe, Eugene, Ore.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Mount Rose Memorial Park, Lebanon. The Rev. Herb Cupit will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton.
BOLLENBACH
Dorothy A. Bollenbach, 78, Camdenton, died March 21, 1999, at her home.
She was born Oct. 4, 1920, in St. Louis, a daughter of Robert and Lucille Benson. She was married in 1951 in St. Louis, to H.F. "Doc" Bollenbach, who survives at the home.
She worked as a secretary at McDonnell Douglas Corp. until her retirement. She was a Presbyterian.
Services will be held at a later date. The remains were cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.
HOLMAN
Vanita F. Holman, 73, Jefferson City, died March 23, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born June 4, 1925, in Belle, a daughter of Floyd and Myrtle Elrod Walker. She was married Sept. 28, 1943, in Belle, to William N. Holman, who died Oct. 31, 1988.
A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, she attended Jefferson City public schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: three sons, James C. Holman, Russellville, Wesley F. Holman, Holts Summit, and William A. Holman, Jefferson City; six daughters, Alice F. Holman, Lois A. Chronister, Dale I. Holman, Janice F. Francis, Veta E. Jones and Wanda L. Clark, all of Jefferson City; two sisters, Dorothy Cook, Belle, and Lucy Ott, Jefferson City; two brothers, Elmo Walker and Jackie D. Walker, both of Jefferson City; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Doyle Sager will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday.
