Doris May Green Whitlock

Doris May Green Whitlock, 86, of Marshall, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at First Christian Church in Marshall, with Rev. Dr. Loy Hoskins and Dr. Robert W. Sweeten officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
Born October 7, 1926, in Arrow Rock, MO, she was the daughter of the late John L. Green and Sally Thomas Green. She was a graduate of Marshall High School. In 1954, in Marshall, she married Russell Whitlock who preceded her in death. She had lived in Marshall most of her life and had worked at Wood & Huston Bank retiring after 33 years of service. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she was very active. She was also a member of Monday Club, Marshall Chapter DAR where she had served as regent, and Marshall Chapter 408 Order of the Eastern Star where she had served as worthy matron. She also served on the board for the Jim the Wonder Dog Memorial.
Survivors include one daughter, Julie Russene Whitlock of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Dwane Allen Wills III and wife Brittany of Columbia, MO and Whitney Olivia Wills of Miami, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sally Olivia Green Montgomery and Barbara Jean Green Godman.
Peggy Lee Williams

Peggy Lee Williams, 63, of Concordia, MO, formerly of Slater, MO, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at I-70 Community Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to I-70 Hospital Auxiliary.
Born May 7, 1950 in Slater, MO, she was the daughter of the late Derl F. Sapp and Stella Earls Sapp. She was raised in the Slater area where she was a graduate of Slater High School and worked at the garment factory. On November 21, 1981 she married Frank R. Williams who survives of the home. She had lived in Concordia the last four years, previously living in Butler, and was a homemaker. She attended the Assembly of God church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Charla Ellen Williams of Higginsville; one sister, Alice (Tea) Fizer of Lee’s Summit; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Frankie Williams; and two sisters, Betty Sapp and Charlotte Fitzpatrick.
Raymond W. Thomas

Raymond Wayne Thomas, 76, of Marshall, MO, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Saline Animal League.
Born March 31, 1937 in Marshall, he was the son of the late Harrison T. Thomas and Opal Skinner Thomas. He had lived in Marshall his entire life where he was a 1955 graduate of Marshall High School, and owned and operated Thomas Plumbing for over 40 years. On November 9, 1959, he married Deloris (Dee) Murry, who preceded him in death on November 26, 1981. On November 17, 1986 he married Edna Bockstetter Duncan who survives of the home. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Ramona Durham and husband Ralph, of rural Arrow Rock, MO, Melanie Thomas-Zachariason of Lake Park, MN, Wesley (Sam) Thomas and wife Barbara of Marshall, MO, Gina Ruiz and husband John of Junction City, KS; one step-son, James Duncan and wife Mona of Warrensburg, MO; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wendell Thomas.
Frank Eugene Utlaut

Frank Eugene Utlaut, 79, of Marshall, MO, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Callaway County Hospital in Fulton, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Grand Pass, MO. Memorials may be made to Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
Born December 2, 1933, in Waverly, MO, he was the son of the late August F. Utlaut and Elizabeth Elaine Salyer Utlaut. On November 5, 1955, he married Marilyn Joyce Cummins who preceded him in death on February 5, 2009. He had lived in Marshall since February of 2009, moving from La Grange, TX, and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Marshall, Versailles Masonic Lodge, Marshall Optimist Club and Malta Bend American Legion Post 558. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include three brothers, A.J. (Poodle) Utlaut and wife Barbara of Marshall, Marvin Utlaut and wife Edie of Marshall and Howard Utlaut and wife Karen of Sulphur Springs, TX; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Teresa Brooks.
James D. (Jim) Smith

James D. (Jim) Smith, 61, of Sweet Springs, MO, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs, with Rev. Dan Wing officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Kansas City Hospice House.
Born August 18, 1951, in Sweet Springs, he was the son of the late James Edwin Smith and Dorothy Mae Jansen Smith. He had lived in Sweet Springs his entire life and was a 1969 graduate of Sweet Springs High School. He was a truck driver for F.F.E. and had served in the Missouri Army National Guard. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church near Sweet Springs.
Survivors include one son, Dustin Pergeson of Sedalia, MO; four sisters, Marsha Klussman and husband Dennis of Sweet Springs, Susan Golden and husband Jim of Liberty, MO, Vickie Smith of Warrensburg, MO and Darla Smith Elliott of Kansas City, MO; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Maxine Jeanette Worley

Maxine Jeanette Frerking Worley died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, in Columbia, Mo. She was 87.
Maxine was born Jan. 11, 1926, to the late Ralph Frerking and Clara Haase Frerking in Higginsville, Mo. She attended Sweet Springs High School before enrolling at the University of Missouri. She graduated with a BA degree in psychology in 1948.
She married Charles A. Worley on Sept. 30, 1946, in Sweet Springs. He preceded her in death May 27, 2009. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. While her husband worked as a family physician in Sweet Springs, she was a homemaker, high school librarian and owner of a variety store there. In 1989, they moved to Laurie, Mo., where she volunteered with the Westlake Area Chamber of Commerce and Sunrise Beach Elementary School. An avid bridge player, Maxine was well known for her cooking and hospitality.
The marriage was blessed with three children: Charles Robert “Bob” and spouse Karen Sue Flandermeyer Worley of Columbia, Virginia Ann Poehlman of Columbia, and Nancy Jane and spouse Randall Dean Thompson of Gladstone, Mo.; and six grandchildren: Charles Christopher “Chris” Worley and John Robert Worley, Nell Michelle Poehlman and Elizabeth Jeanette “Betsy” Poehlman, and Charles Loren Thompson and Randall Jacob “Jake” Thompson.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the School of Medicine at the University of Missouri.
Charles L. (Chuck) Petty
March 12, 1944 - May 17, 2013
Charles L. (Chuck) Petty, 69, of Slater, MO, formerly of Marshall, MO, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial with military rites will be in Rehobeth Cemetery near Slater. Memorials may be made to Slater School Alumni.
Born March 12, 1944, in Paris, TX, he was the son of the late Charles Ralph Petty and Mabel Perry Petty. On August 20, 1967, he married Dixie Wells who preceded him in death on December 26, 2006. He had lived in Slater the last five years, moving from Marshall, where he retired from O’Reilly Auto Parts. He had served in the U.S. Air Force. He loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Fisher and husband Bob of rural Slater; two grandchildren, Whitney Gregg and husband Colin, and Tad Fisher; one stepsister, Sheila Beck of Marshall; and his companion Sherry Taylor of Slater.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Doris Petty; and a twin brother in infancy.
