Dorothy L. Hicks

Dorothy L. Hicks, 91, of Marshall, MO, died Monday, December 17, 2012, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with Pastor Keith Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Houstonia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Kibogora Hospital in Rwanda, Africa.
Born June 23, 1921, in Imperial, NE, she was the daughter of the late Ray Orcutt and Lois Barger Orcutt. She was a 1940 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia and a 1948 nurses’ training graduate of Mo. Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph, MO. On November 18, 1989, she married Rev. Forrest G. Hicks who preceded her in death in January of 1999. She was a registered nurse and missionary for 25 years. She attended Marshall Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include one sister, Rose Ellen Stroup of Marshall; several nieces and nephews; one stepson, Mark Hicks and wife Marian of Jefferson City, MO; one stepdaughter, Janice Hicks of Jefferson City; three step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Paul and Donald Orcutt; and one sister, Marjorie Harper.
Rebecca J. (Becky) Fisher
April 24, 1980 - December 26, 2012
Rebecca J. (Becky) Fisher, 32, of Marshall and Slater, MO, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. and inurnment at Sunset Gardens Cemetery. William W. Harlow will officiate. Memorials may be made to The Lighthouse Shelter.
Born April 24, 1980 in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter of William R. (Bill) Fisher who survives of Slater and the late Billy Sue Green Fisher. She had lived in Marshall and Slater her entire life and was a 1998 graduate of Marshall High School. She was currently employed as Direct Care Staff for Rogers Community Services in Marshall, and prior to that, worked for several years at The Living Center.
In addition to her father, she is survived by three brothers: Randy Fisher and wife Chris of Carrollton, MO, Jessie Fisher and wife Robin of rural Marshall, Bobby Fisher and wife Cindy of Slater; several nieces and nephews; numerous foster brothers and sisters; along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Evelyn H. Rogers
February 28, 1917 - December 27, 2012
Evelyn Rogers, 95, of Marshall, MO, died Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Randy Shannon officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Memorials may be made to Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice or Community Cancer Center.
Born February 28, 1917, in Mt. Leonard, MO, she was the daughter of the late Willis Ballard Barnes and Myrtle V. Wilder Barnes. She married Walter Howard who preceded her in death in 1945. In 1950 she married Durwood B. Rogers who preceded her in death on July 29, 2005. She attended Marshall Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Gibbs and husband Dave of Pearl River, NY; two granddaughters, Lindsay Crouch and husband, Neal,and Michelle Welsh and husband, Brian; five great-grandchildren, Sydney Gibbs, Reagan and Mason Crouch, Hannah Hoppe and Garrett Welsh; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one brother, Willis B. Barnes, Jr.; and one sister, Doris Lovick and husband, Earle.
Norbert (Nups) Oetting
August 3, 1918 - December 26, 2012
Norbert (Nups) Oetting, 94, of rural Concordia, MO, died Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Concordia, with Rev. Harold Block officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial with military rites will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Window Fund or St. Paul’s Lutheran School in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia.
Born August 3, 1918, in Concordia, he was the son of the late Edward W. Oetting and Ida Buss Oetting. On July 7, 1942, he married Virginia Lohman who survives of the home. He had lived in Concordia his entire life and was a farmer. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he served as an elder, on various committees and sang in the choir. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Dennis R. Oetting and wife Sandra of rural Concordia; four grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Gregory and Kevin Oetting; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Alvin Oetting of Concordia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Erna Bohnert.
Robert L. (Bob) Eidson
September 16, 1936 - December 25, 2012
Robert L. (Bob) Eidson, 76, of Marshall, MO, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at his home.
At Bob’s request private funeral services and burial will be held. Family and friends may call from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fitzgibbon-Mary Montgomery Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Born September 16, 1936, in Hickman Mills, MO, he was the son of the late Paul E. Eidson and Burlie Fay Webster Eidson. On February 16, 1956, at Midway Baptist Church, he married Shirley Sue Nichols who preceded him in death on August 10, 1998. He had lived in Saline County most of his life and was a member of Midway Baptist church.
Survivors include five children, Deborah Lee Eidson of Marshall, Glen Robert Eidson of Lake Ozark, MO, Cindy (Squeak) Mikle and husband Dale of Lee’s Summit, MO, Jan (Fruit) MacLaughlin and husband Lance of Holts Summit, MO and Jon Christopher Eidson and wife Charity of Marshall; daughter-in-law, Donna Blumhorst of Marshall; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pauline (Sister) Bradley of Elsah, IL, Judy Kay Deal of rural Nelson and Sharon (Bloss) Maupin of Shackelford, MO; three brothers, Charles Eidson of Marshall, Fred Eidson of Marshall and Billy Wayne Eidson of Dallas, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Lynn Nichols Eidson.

Mary Ruth Hanna

Mary Ruth Hanna, 98, of Marshall, MO, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with visitation one hour prior to the service and burial in Ridge Park Cemetery. William W. Harlow will officiate. Memorials may be made to Fitzgibbon Hospital Auxiliary or Georgia Brown Blosser Home.
Born July 28, 1914, in Marshall, she was the daughter of the late George A. Parks and Lena Veatch Parks. She was a graduate of Marshall High School and attended Missouri Valley College. On April 14, 1934 she married Audsley M. Hanna who preceded her in death on August 15, 1972. She was active in the Marshall community where she served on the Georgia Brown Blosser Home board, member of Fitzgibbon Hospital Auxiliary, Marshall Chapter D.A.R., Chapter G M of P.E.O., Monday Club, and First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one nephew, George Brown and wife Nancy of rural Marshall; one niece, Ann Brown McCorkle and husband David of Holts Summit, MO; along with great-nieces; great-nephews; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Martha Parks Brown.
William F. (Bill) Conner
February 15, 1942 - December 20, 2012
William F. (Bill) Conner, 70, of rural Marshall, MO, died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 24, 2012 at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service. William W. Harlow will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery north of Marshall. Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church.
Born February 15, 1942 in Kansas City, KS, he was the son of the late William Franklin Conner, Sr. and Wanita Hall Conner. He lived most of his life in the rural Marshall and Malta Bend areas and was a 1961 graduate of Malta Bend High School. On June 26, 1965 he married Linda Carolyn Hawkins who survives of the home. Bill had many occupations in life, including being a trucker, farmer, and cattleman. He was an integral part of his wife's flower shop, Country Floral and Keepsakes. He loved woodworking and was proud to have just completed a bench using wood from his father’s barn. He loved his cows and had recently taken an interest in chickens and found great joy in two mini horses he received this week; and was always happy being with his two grandchildren. Bill was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Denise Michelle Conner of rural Marshall, Dennis William Conner and wife Tawnya of Marshall; two grandchildren, Emily and Liam Conner; one sister, Judy Taylor of Lee’s Summit; as well as several nieces and nephews.
