Michael Thomas Williams, 57, of Marshall, MO, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2008, at the First Christian Church in Marshall with Rev. Mike Brown and Rev. Dave Huck officiating. Memorials may be made to Malta Bend School Music Department c/o Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall.
Born September 8, 1950, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Jane Waters Williams and Harry Randolph Williams, Jr. At the time of his death he was the music instructor at Malta Bend High School and had previously taught in Slater, MO and the Kansas City Kansas Public School District. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he was the choir director and was also a member of MSTA, Marshall Philharmonic, Marshall Municipal Band and was the pianist for the Gospel Group Go Forth.
Survivors include one aunt, Catherine Kennedy of Marshall; and three cousins, Robert Kennedy and wife Ann of Liberty, MO, Allen Kennedy and wife Gail of Carrollton, TX and Melissa Simpson and husband William of Irvine, CA.
Ernest Hawkins

Ernest Hawkins, 71, of Marshall, MO, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
Born January 13, 1937, in rural Marshall, MO, he was the son of the late Jesse Hawkins and Janie Knox Hawkins. He had lived in Saline County his entire life and was a farmer for many years. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include one son, Edward Lee Hawkins of Slater, MO; two daughters, Melinda Welch of Raytown, MO and Jamie Barnett of Marshall; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Hawkins of Marshall and John Hawkins of Slater; two sisters, Sally Allen of DeSoto, KS and Linda Conner of rural Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Hawkins.
William Lee "Bill" Clemens

William Lee (Bill) Clemens, 65, of rural Marshall, MO, died Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with Rev. Wayne Doolin officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery with military rites. Memorials may be made to Fitzgibbon Cancer Center.
Born June 10, 1942, in Marshall, he was the son of the late William Clemens and Myrl Maupin Clemens who survives of Marshall. He was a 1960 graduate of Pilot Grove High School. On September 22, 1973, he married Vaneissa Wilkerson who survives of the home. He had lived in Marshall most of his life and retired from Cargill Meat Solutions. He had served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1965 and was a member of Malta Bend American Legion Post 558. He was also a member of the Federated Church of Blackwater.
Additional survivors include three sons, James William Clemens and wife Jill of St. Louis, Mo, Joseph Robert Clemens and wife Kamie of St. Louis, MO and Anthony Jennings Clemens of St. Louis, MO; one daughter, Kristen Lee Lowery and husband David of Magnolia, TX; six grandchildren; one brother, Robert J. (Bob) Clemens and wife Judy of Marshall; two nieces; and two great-nieces.
Dorothy Marie Serrone

Dorothy Marie (Blumhorst) Serrone, 81, of Independence, MO entered heaven on January 28, 2008 following a lengthy illness. Dottie was born December 21, 1926, at Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Kansas City, MO. On February 23, 1950, she married Anthony (Tony) F. Serrone who preceded her in death on July 13, 1992. In addition to much love and happiness with her husband she was blessed with three wonderful children: a daughter, Julia (Judy) T. Brown and husband Gary of Independence and two sons, Louis A. Serrone and wife Rene’ of Lenexa, KS and H. James Serrone and wife Pam of Independence. Dottie was also blessed with seven adorable grandchildren: Jason Bunker and wife Gabriella, Mandi Hunter and husband Brandon, Christina Serrone, Sara Wickham and husband Greg, Katie Serrone, Adam Brown and Philip Serrone. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Bella Bunker, Will Hunter, Elsie Wickham and Anthony Juarez. Dorothy also leaves a brother, William Blumhorst and wife Jeanne of Marshall, Mo and a sister, Agnes Reichart of Sun City, California. Additionally she leaves brother and sister-in-laws, Frank and Delores Serrone and Angelo and Georgia Serrone and sister and brother-in-laws, Vincie and Eddie McMurray and Mary Lou and Leonard Goebel. In addition to her husband, Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Eulalia (Dysart) Blumhorst, four brothers, Percy Blumhorst, Eugene Blumhorst, Jim Blumhorst and Richard Blumhorst and one sister, Rachel Blumhorst.
She was employed over 23 years with General Motors Chevrolet Division. She was a lifelong Lutheran baptized January 13, 1927 and confirmed April 6, 1941. She was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Independence, MO and a faithful servant of the Lord.
Services to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Independence, Mo. The family will receive friends beforehand from 9:30 to 10:30. Burial with a short graveside service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m, in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall, MO. Donations in Dottie’s memory may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Irene M. (Skip) Dennis 91, of Marshall, MO, formerly of Sweet Springs, MO, died Monday, January 28, 2008, at The Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Pallbearers will be Roger Herndon, Mike Herndon, Ryan Lear, Howard Dale Thomas, Tom Wyatt, Doug Darling and Dick Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be J.R. Gilmore and Jimmy Gilmore. Memorials may be made to The Living Center or American Diabetes Association.
Born February 14, 1916, in Malta Bend, MO, she was the daughter of the late William McKee and Susie Bennett McKee. On November 10, 1951, she married Joseph L. Dennis who preceded her in death on December 23, 1986. She had lived in Saline County her entire life and was a member of the First Christian Church. She had worked at International Shoe Company in Marshall for over 28 years and prior to that had worked at Stampers for 10 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Lana Jo Lear and husband, Mike of rural Sweet Springs, MO; one grandson, Ryan Lear and wife, Tracy of Independence, MO; one sister, Delores Oliver of Henderson, NV ; one brother, Robert McKee of Lewisville, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
Robert Dale Schmidt

Robert Dale Schmidt, 73, of Waverly, MO, died Saturday, January 26, 2008 at his home.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Waverly Cemetery with William W. Harlow officiating. Memorials may be made to the family to help defray expenses in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.
Born January 6, 1935, in Waverly, MO, he was the son of the late Leonhard Schmidt and Della Duvall Schmidt. On January 4, 1982, he married Sandy Hamlet who preceded him in death on December 3, 2006. He had lived in rural Waverly his entire life, was owner/operator of Schmidt Apple Orchard and was a farmer. He was a graduate of Waverly High School and attended the University of MO-Columbia. He was a member of the Waverly Jaycees. He was a Lutheran.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Schmidt and wife Aleecia of Waverly and David Schmidt and wife Cassie of Higginsville, MO; one daughter, Judy Petzoldt and husband Mark of Miami, MO; one step-son, Rick Buck and wife Jo Ellen of Cowgill, MO; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Stark of Lexington, MO and Mary Louise Plattner of Waverly; and several nieces and nephews.
Bonnie J. Shull

Bonnie J. Shull, 82, of Marshall, MO, died Saturday, January 26, 2008, at Golden Oaks Residential Care near Marshall.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Friends may call Wednesday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Fitzgibbon Cancer Center.
Born January 17, 1926, in Henry County, MO, she was the daughter of the late Walter Jackson and Dollie Noble Jackson. On December 14, 1945, in Sedalia, MO, she married Orla O. (Jay) Shull who preceded her in death on August 19, 1991. She had lived in Marshall since 1945 and was a homemaker.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
