Lucinda Conaway Pines
Lucinda L. Pines of Sullivan, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 1998 at the age of 42 years.
Cindy was born August 18, 1955 at Des Moines, Iowa to Howard Conaway and the late Betty Jo (Teal) Conaway. The family made their home in Steelville, Missouri where Cindy attended Steelville High School. On April 14, 1978 she was married to Robert Pines and they were blessed with two sons. Cindy was a special person, well liked by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed life, living everyday to the fullest. She loved shopping and talking and she never met a stranger. Cindy was very close to her family. She enjoyed spending time with them always willing to help in any way she could. But the greatest love of her life were her sons, Chris and Justin. She attended all of the their sporting events cheering enthusiastically sometimes accidentally for the other team. She loved having the boys friends over and was always willing to give anyone a ride to the games who needed one. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons Chris and Justin Pines of Sullivan. her father and step-mother, Howard and Eleanor Conaway of Cuba, paternal grandmother, Isabelle Schmidt of Cuba, three sisters, Melissa Peters and husband Vernon, Becky Susnic and husband John all of Sullivan, Gina Eaton and husband Wayne of Cahokia Illinois, three step-brothers, Donald Conaway and wife Sandy, Daniel Conaway and wife Su all of Cuba, Gene Conaway and wife Donelle of Vandalia, Illinois, father and mother-in-law, Todd and Betty Pines of Salem, four sisters-in-law, Linda Mesey of De Soto, Marilyn Dent and husband Joe, Nancy Eudy and husband Randy, Jane Gibbs and husband Raymond all of Salem, nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jo Conaway and one brother, Howard (Cheryl) Conaway.
Funeral services were conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 1998 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Mr. Robert Lindsley officiating. Interment was in Stone Hill Cemetery, Salem, Missouri. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home.
Janie Harmon
Janie E. Harmon of Bourbon, Missouri passed away on Friday, October 19, 2000 at the age of 66 years.
Mrs. Harmon was born July 9, 1934 at Hinch, Missouri to the late Fred and Julia (Woods) Farris. She was raised in the Hinch area and on November 4, 1961 was married to John W. Harmon at Leasburg, Missouri. This marriage was blessed with two children, a son, Roger Harmon of Sullivan and a daughter, Audrey Wood and her husband, Kenny of Cuba, Missouri. Janie was a hard working farm wife and mother who helped her husband on their 3rd generation farm. She was a happy person who enjoyed cooking, loved gardening and her cats and dogs. Even through her struggles with diabetes and arthritis, Janie maintained a spirit of love and guidance which she passed on to her family and many friends.
Along with her son and daughter, Janie is survived by one brother, William Farris and wife, Georgia of St. Louis; two sisters, Sadie Woods of Sullivan and Reba Amann of St. Louis; three sisters-in-law, Mary Duncan of St. Louis, Pauline Farris of Cuba, and Ruth Weatherly of Bourbon; two brothers-in-law, Ray Hall and wife, Florence of St. Clair and Sloan Harmon of Bourbon; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Three brothers, Harold, Edwin and James Farris preceded her in death.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2000 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment was in Hardy Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Diabetes Association or the Arthritis Foundation in memory of Janie E. Harmon.
Elizabeth Mayer
Elizabeth K. Mayer of Bourbon, Missouri passed away Friday, October 20, 2000 at the age of 76 years.
Mrs. Mayer was born April 15, 1924 at St. Louis, Missouri to the late Henry Joseph and Emma Anna (Weltz) Brendel. On April 15, 1944 she was married to John Gerber and to this marriage seven children were born of which a daughter Angela Gerber preceded her in death. Mr. Gerber preceded her in death in January of 1967. On June 28, 1968 Elizabeth was married to Raymond Mayer in Saint Francis Catholic Church at Bourbon, Missouri. She was employed for a time as a seamstress in the garment industry and later was a housekeeper in the motel trade. Elizabeth also worked at the former Ramsey Corporation in Sullivan, however her most fulfilling vocation was that of a homemaker, wife and mother. She loved the outdoors and was a fun-loving, outgoing person. Her life was based around her family and church. She also found pleasure in gardening, sewing, quilting and dancing. Elizabeth was a member of Saint Francis Catholic Church, a member of the Quilting Club of Saint Francis Parish, Bourbon Senior Center and was a board member of the Country Music Club of Bourbon. Elizabeth was a lady with a resounding personality who will long be remembered by all who knew her for the love she showed with them.
She is survived by her husband Raymond, three sons; John Gerber of Coshocton, Ohio, Matthew Gerber of St. Clair, Missouri and Mark Gerber of Grove Spring, Missouri; three daughters, Mary Edwards of Sullivan, Rosalie Bolon of Rolla, Missouri and Lucy Diefenbach of Manchester, Missouri, one brother, Francis Brendel of Bourbon, and two sisters, Mary Southard and Lorraine Brune both of Union, Missouri 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and was anxiously awaiting the birth of another great-grandson, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Mayer was also preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Carl and Andrew Brendel and by two sisters, Emma Russo and Dorothy Trueb.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. from Saint Francis Catholic Church in Bourbon with the Rev. Father Robert Duesdieker officiating. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Mayer was from 4:30 until 9 p.m. Sunday at the Eaton Funeral Chapel in Bourbon where a parish wake service was conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. Those who desire may make memorials to the perpetual care fund of Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Aileen Erni
Aileen Erni of Bourbon, Missouri passed away Sunday, October 22, 2000 at the age of 85 years.
Mrs. Erni was born January 5, 1915 at Sullivan, Missouri to the late Claude and Effie Chapman and was a life-long resident of the Sullivan and Bourbon areas. She was later married to Luther Erni and to this marriage a son was born. Luther preceded her in death in December of 1979. Mrs. Erni helped her husband on the family farm in Bourbon for many years. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon and was a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She also found pleasure in playing Pinochle and Bridge and was a gifted seamstress. Mrs. Erni was a loving mother and grandmother whose tenderness will long be remembered by her family and friends.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Bonnie Erni of Bourbon, one sister, Lorene Cartwright of Camdenton, Missouri, two grandchildren, Daniel Erni of Taylorville, Illinois and Jill Comely of Foristell, Missouri, other relatives and friends. A brother Clark Chapman and a sister Virginia Lammert preceded Aileen in death.
It was the request of Mrs. Erni that she be cremated with private funeral services following. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the building fund of the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Alma Tyree
Alma Tyree of Rolla, Missouri, formerly of Sullivan, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2000 at the age of 88 years.
Mrs. Tyree was born on December 17, 1911 in Batesville, Arkansas to the late Henry and Cora (Hicks) Weaks. As a teenager, she moved to the Washington, Missouri area where she was employed for a time at the shoe factory there. After her marriage to Walter Tyree in 1940, she moved to the Sullivan area where she and her husband purchased a farm. She helped her husband on the farm, and also worked as a cook for the Spring Bluff School for several years. Mrs. Tyree enjoyed quilting, and was a faithful member of the First Assembly of God in Sullivan. Later in life ill health caused her to retire to the Rolla area where she could be near her daughter, Judy.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth Tyree and wife, Judy, of Vidor, Texas; one daughter, Judy Black O’Connor and husband, Robert, of Rolla, Missouri; one sister, Monnie Obermark of Washington, Missouri; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mrs. Tyree was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, in 1982, two brothers, Jack and Fred, and three sisters, Hazel, Sarah and Faye.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2000 from the Chapel of the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Gary Oblesby officiating. Interment was in Schmidt Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to the Alma Tyree Educational Fund.
Betty Jane Mayberry
Betty Jane Mayberry of Bellview, Missouri, formerly of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2000 at the age of 58 years.
Mrs. Mayberry was born on December 24, 1941 in Bourbon to the late Rufus Allen and Ruth Jane (Pratt) Graddy. On November 15, 1964 she was joined in marriage to Leo Ted Mayberry at the First Assembly of God in Bourbon, and to this union one daughter was born. Betty’s primary work throughout her life was that of being a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and listening to gospel music. Betty was a member of the First Assembly of God in Bourbon. She will be remembered and cherished as a woman with a sweet disposition, who also demonstrated great strength and endurance in the face of her many physical struggles.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Mayberry, of Imperial, Missouri; one daughter, Patricia Diane Merlenbach and husband, Frank, of Pacific, Missouri; eight brothers, Bill Graddy of Overland, Missouri, Harold Graddy and wife, Mildred, of Cuba, Missouri, Edward Graddy and wife, Kathleen, and Ben Graddy and wife, Sue, all of Bourbon, Don Graddy and wife, Faye, of Geyserville, California, Cecil Graddy and wife, Rosemary, Dean Graddy and wife, Pearl, and Ronnie Graddy, all of Bourbon; five sisters, Dorothy Whitaker and husband, Buddy, of Redwood, Mississippi, Mildred Hurst of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Hilda Phillips and Evelyn Schmitt, both of Sullivan, Missouri, and Hazel Pennock and husband, Ronnie, of Creve Coeur, Illinois; three grandchildren, Jessica Glorena, Jacob Keith, and Rebecca Leann; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2000 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Jim Kitchen officiating. Interment was in the Sam Crocker Cemetery, Bellview, Missouri. All arrangements were under the care of the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Connie Elfrank
Connie M. Elfrank of St. Clair, Missouri passed away Saturday, October 28, 2000 at the age of 51 years.
She is survived by her husband Larry of St. Clair, two sons Doyle Elfrank of St. Clair, Missouri and Loren Elfrank of Sullivan; one daughter Darlinda Elfrank of St. Clair, brothers, sisters, other relatives and friends.
It was the request of Mrs. Elfrank that she be cremated with private family services to be held at a later date. All arrangements are being cared for by the Eaton Funeral Home of Sullivan, Missouri.
Hartford Edgar III
Hartford Marion Edgar, III of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2000 at the age of 76 years.
Mr. Edgar was born on August 9, 1924 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Hartford Marion and Beatrice (Ivy) Edgar. As a young boy, he moved to Leadwood, Missouri where he was raised. Later, as a young man, he returned to St. Louis. In May of 1943 Hartford entered the United States Army, and honorably served his country during World War II. In the late 1940s he moved to Stanton, Missouri. On December 24, 1950 he was joined in marriage to Virginia Kathleen Peebles at the Victory Chapel in Stanton, and to this union four children were born. Hatrford’s primary occupation throughout his life was in the field of maintenance. He worked at the Chrysler plant in Fenton, Missouri, McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, and finally retired after ten years with Walmart. He greatly enjoyed fishing, and also found pleasure in gardening, camping, and carpentry. He will be remembered and cherished as a loving husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Kathleen Edgar, of Sullivan; three daughters, Marion Kathleen “Kathy” Laboray and husband, Fred, of Desoto, Missouri, Rita J. Rock and husband, Ken, of Ontario, Canada, and Mona Lisa Edgar; one brother, Edward Edgar and wife, Mary, of Sunset Beach, Missouri; one sister, Juanita Canda and special friend, George, of Rolla, Missouri; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edgar was preceded in death by his son, Hartford Marion Edgar, IV.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2000 from the Chapel of the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Jeff Bent officiating. Interment was in the Stanton Cemetery.
Velma Kamler
Velma R. Kamler of Gerald, Missouri, formerly of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2000 at the age of 79 years.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Kamler of Gerald and Gary Kamler and wife, Laura, of Sullivan; two daughters, Agnes Voss and husband, Roger, of Linn, Missouri and Pamela Fink and husband, Kevin, of Bourbon, Missouri; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Marvin Kamler and wife, Reba, of Fenton, Missouri, a special aunt, Ethel Reifer of Owensville, Missouri, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2000 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in Argo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2000 and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2000 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. If desired, contributions may be made to the Argo Presbyterian Church in memory of Velma R. Kamler.
