Leo F. Klauser
Leo F. Klauser of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2002 at the age of 77 years.
Mr. Klauser was born May 9, 1924 at Stanton, Missouri to Leo N. and Anna P. Hittl Klauser. He had lived the majority of his live in the Sullivan area and was a graduate of Sullivan High School. Leo honorably served his country during W.W. II with the U.S. Army. He was witness to the bombings of London and saw action on the European front. Leo was one of the first employees at the Sullivan Ramsey Plant when it was located in the City Hall and was employed there for 13 years. He later became employed with the U.S. Postal service and worked over 30 years at the Sullivan Post Office. He retired from there in June of 1989. On April 29, 1950 he was married to Kathryn Strauser at Sullivan and to this union four children where born. Leo enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Sullivan Country Club. In his early days, he was pitcher for the Sullivan Town Team and later in life followed baseball with this children and grandchildren. He was also fond of bowling and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Kate nee Strauser of the family home, two sons, Michael Klauser and wife Susan of Sullivan, and Robert Klauser of Ballwin, Missouri, two daughters, Kay Jackson and husband Cecil of Ellisville, Missouri, and Julie Duncan and husband James of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, five grandchildren, Stephanie Jones and husband Matt, Mitch and Haley Klauser, Kathryn and Christine Jackson, three step-grandchildren, Trent Jackson, Brandon and Michael Duncan and three great-great-grandchildren, Darion, Kasen and Sierra Jones, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Interment with Military Honors was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. Those who desire may make memorials to Missouri Baptist Cardiac Rehab in the name of Leo Klauser.
William R. Caylor
William R. Caylor of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at the age of 81 years.
He is survived by his wife Mary of the family home, one son Lionel May of Gerald, Missouri, one daughter, Lynne May of Gerald, Missouri, 3 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great- grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Monday, April 8, 2002 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 12 noon at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Shaina M. Walton
Shaina Walton of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at the age of 16 years.
She is survived by her mother and step-father, Gina and Bryan Van Ness of Sullivan, two brothers, Thomas Walton of Brook Park, Ohio and Walter Whitlock of Sullivan, maternal grandmother, Joan Chadock of Brook Park, Ohio, paternal grandmother, Carol Walton of Parma, Ohio, step-grandparents, Doris and Kenneth Van Ness of Pensacola, Florida, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2002 from the Eaton Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation for Shaina Walton will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Theodore A. Koelling
Mr. Ted Koelling of Sullivan, Missouri husband of Luella “Blue” Doss and son of the late Florence Ernest and Sophie Catherine (Beuttermueller) Koelling passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at the age of 97 years, 9 months and 24 days.
Mr. Koelling was born on June 8, 1904 on the family farm near Strain, Missouri. He attended Union grade school and later Sullivan schools to the 10th grade. In his early years Ted was employed at the Ford Motor Company in St. Louis and then for a time with the Marcal Rope and Rigging Company. He later operated the Strain Store and from 1946 to 1948 operated a dairy farm. Mr. Koelling also sold farm implements and worked at the Sullivan Lumber Company. He purchased farm acreage in 1950 and retired from farming in 1978. On June 24, 1932 he was married to Nadine K. Busch at Spring Bluff, Missouri and to this union six children were born. Nadine passed away on July 7, 1992. On August 28, 1993 Mr. Koelling married Luella Doss at Sullivan. He was a devoted member of Faith Assembly of God in Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife Luella “Blue” Koelling of the family home, three sons, Robert Koelling and wife Virgie of Kenner, Louisiana, Melvin Koelling and wife Laurie of Lansing, Michigan, and Neil Koelling of Chesterfield, Missouri, three daughters, Jane Parker and husband Charles of Springfield, Missouri, Joyce Cornwell and husband Ken of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Carolyn Bishop and husband Dick of Kalispell, Montana, two step-daughters, Christine Williams and husband Barry of Sullivan and Arlene Alan and husband Gary of Springfield, Missouri, one brother, Hadley Koelling of Sullivan, 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with his first wife Nadine, and parents, Mr. Koelling was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Donna Koelling, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2002 from Faith Assembly of God in Sullivan with Pastor Dan Martin officiating. Interment was in Dutch Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Albert Lloyd Farris
Lloyd “Cannonball” Farris of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2002 at the age of 64 years.
Mr. Farris was born on September 20, 1937 at Sullivan, Missouri to Jesse Roy and Cecil Mae Simmons Farris. He lived the majority of his life in the Sullivan area except for a time honorably serving his country with the U.S. Air Force. His vocation was that of a carpenter. Most recently he was employed at Meramec Caverns as its in-house carpenter. In earlier years, Mr. Farris worked in St. Louis out of the Carpenters Union and would work in both residential and commercial construction. On September 30, 1960 he was married to Sharon Jane Bouse at Sullivan and to this union three children were born. Mr. Farris was known as a man who never met a stranger, who was kind, who always had a warm, loving smile and was always easy going. He also enjoyed gardening and woodcrafts and was a member of First Baptist Church of Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Jane of the family home, two sons, Alan Lloyd Farris and wife Diane of Steelville, Missouri, Kevin Dale Farris of Sullivan and a former daughter-in-law Cindy Larkins of Catawissa, Missouri, one daughter, Vickie McKnight and husband Rick of Bourbon, Missouri, two sisters, Viola Harmon and Florence Doyle, both of Sullivan, one brother Charles Farris and wife Mary of Sullivan, four grandsons, Colt Steven Farris, Michael Keith Farris, Brendan Dale Farris and Brett Allen McKnight, a foster granddaughter, Christina Barker, a special niece, Katie McCoy, whom he loved as his own, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Along with his parents, a sister, Ruby Dace, a foster granddaughter, Carissa “CJ” Barker and an infant brother, Benny Farris, preceded Mr. Farris in death.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 from First Baptist Church in Sullivan with Rev. Paul Gray officiating. Interment was in Crow Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Hassebroek Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Richard W. Giuliani, Jr.
Richard W. Giuliani, Jr. of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2002 at the age of 68 years.
Mr. Giuliani was born on February 9, 1934 in Caspian, Michigan to Richard W. Giuliani, Sr. and Gina Magania. After graduating from high school in Michigan, he honorably served his country for eight years as a member of the National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserves. In 1962 Richard moved to the Sullivan area, and resided there for the rest of his life. In 1993 he retired from the Pea Ridge Mining Company after working for over thirty years as a miner. Richard enjoyed trout fishing, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan, and will be remembered and cherished as a very thoughtful, loving, and generous man.
He is survived by his two children, Todd Giuliani and wife, Julie, of Sullivan and Cindy Giuliani and husband, Leon Bowie, of St. Charles, Missouri; his twin brother, Lawrence Giuliani and wife, Dale, of Crystal Falls, Michigan; three grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Giuliani was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Albert, and Geno Giuliani, and one sister, Corrine Giuliani.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2002 from St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan with cremation to follow. Visitation for Richard W. Giuliani, Jr. was from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Mary E. Metz
Mary E. Metz of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Tuesday March 26, 2002 at the age of 88 years.
She is survived by a step-daughter and step-granddaughter other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2002 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. In accordance with Mrs. Metz’s wishes, she was cremated upon her death.
Lowell I. Akers
Lowell Akers of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2002 at the age of 82 years.
He is survived by his wife Helen nee Pullen of the family home, one son, Jack Akers of Pacific, Missouri, a daughter, Joyce Tracy of Grand Junction, Colorado, two brothers, Ansil Akers of Gravois Mill, Missouri and John Akers of Sullivan, Missouri, one sister Marie Feers of Normal, Illinois, five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 from Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan with interment in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Lowell Akers will be from 6 until 9 p.m. Monday evening at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Oddfellow memorial services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home under the auspices of Sullivan Lodge No. 156.
Vernon R. Brinker
Vernon R. Brinker of Leslie, Missouri passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2002 at the age of 66 years.
He is survived by his wife Gayle Ann Brinker nee Cox of the family home and a son William “Bill” Brinker also of the family home, three brothers and one sister also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in National Cemetery, Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. Visitation for Mr. Vernon Brinker will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. All services will conclude at the Funeral Home

Eleanor J. Koch of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Monday, March 25, 2002 at the age of 81 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Carole Campbell of Portland, Oregon, Judy Butts of Union, Missouri and Nancy Logan of Sullivan, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2002 from Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan with interment in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Eleanor Koch will be from 5 – 8 P.M. on Wednesday at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan and from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 at Temple Baptist Church.
Rossanna G. Netzela
Roseanna G. Netzela of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2002 at the age of 87 years.
She is survived by one son Albert Netzela and wife Patty of Macks Creek, Missouri, one sister, Marietta Howk of Sullivan, Missouri, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in Pleasant Point Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. Visitation for Mrs. Roseannsa Netzela will be from 5-9 p.m. on Monday evening at the Eaton Funeral Home.
