Marie Opal Adams
Marie Adams of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the age of 83 years.
Marie Opal was born one of twelve children, to the late Royal and Irene (Ellis) King at Leasburg, Missouri. Her childhood was lived in the Leasburg area and on July 20, 1940 she was married to Lloyd Adams at Steelville, Missouri. To their marriage four children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Adams moved to the state of Wisconsin where Mr. Adams was employed in the fish hatchery business, and they remained in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin for 52 years. Marie attended church at the Evangelist Center in Fort Atkinson until she returned to Sullivan ten years ago. She then began attending Crossroads Baptist Church where she was a member. Marie excepted Christ early in life and remained strong and committed to her faith in God for all of her life. She was described as a strong and loving Christian woman, who adored her grandchildren. They were the light of her life.
She is survived by two sons, James Adams of Watertown, Wisconsin, Richard Adams and wife, Judy of Davenport, Florida, one daughter, Jayne Harding of Sullivan, two brothers, Clarence King and wife, Dorothy of Sullivan, James King and wife, Golden of Bourbon, four sisters, Ethel Boedy and husband, Robert of Fenton, Missouri, Vi Sappington of Leasburg, Alice Ray of Fenton, Betty Schaeffer and husband Chuck of St. Louis, seven grandchildren, Heidi Jagler and husband, John of Watertown, Wisconsin, Julie Wolfram and husband, Bob of Janesville, Wisconsin, Andrea Hake of Holladay, Tennessee, Chad Adams of Jefferson, Wisconsin, Ashley, Amber, and Amanda Harding all of Sullivan, seven great-grandchildren, Zach Adams, Desiree Gallert, Riannon Hake, Jenika Adams, Sarah, Gracie and Johnny Jagler, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Adams, one son, Lloydie Adams, four brothers, Edward, Floyd, Gene and Wilbur King, and one sister, Alma Woods.
Funeral services were conducted 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2002 from Crossroads Baptist Church in Leasburg, Missouri with Pastor Mike King officiating. Interment was in Crossroads Cemetery. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Georgia Talmadge Sapp
Talmadge Sapp of Bourbon, Missouri passed away Monday, January 6, 2003 at the age of 81 years.
Mrs. Sapp was born on July 4, 1921 at Rosebud, Illinois to Emmett and Nadine (Skaggs) Davidson. At the age of six she moved to the St. Louis area. For a time, she was a waitress at the Holiday Inn in St. Louis and later, when she made her home in Bourbon, Missouri she was employed at Proctor Products. She retired from there after twelve years of employment. She was known as a loving mother and friend and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Ann Hoerath and husband, Herman of Bourbon, Sondra Jane Mooney of Hallsville, Missouri, 7 grandchildren, Robin, Lynnette, Sheila, Joe, Stacie, Tracie and April, 21 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Mrs. Sapp was preceded in death by a brother, Emmett R. Davidson and a sister Ruth Hisaw.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2003 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with the Rev. Bill Hanshew officiating. Cremation with private interment followed.
Myrtle Ruble Wallen
e Ruble Wallen of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Sunday, January 5, 2003 at the age of 99 years.
Myrtle was born June 1, 1903 near Annapolis, Missouri to Ernest A. and Lilly (Lewis) Chilton and was the eldest of 11 children. On March 17, 1923 she was united in marriage to Walter Lee Ruble and to this union one daughter was born. Mr. Ruble preceded Myrtle in death on September 1, 1930. In June of 1935, she was married to Theo C. Wallen. He, too, preceded her in death in March of 1973. Myrtle was educated in the King and Roberts School Districts in Iron County and was baptized in ;the Peace and Harmony Baptist Church near Des Arc, Missouri. Myrtle was employed as an inspector with the Trimfoot Shoe Company and retired from there in 1967. She loved her family and always wanted her brothers, sisters, their spouses and nieces and nephews around her and her home and pocketbook was always open to all. She would help victims of fire when they were burned out and would prepare and carry meals to the sick and elderly neighbors. Myrtle loved to piece quilts and after retirement she quilted with several groups until Macular Degeneration left her with diminished vision. She loved History and traveled extensively in the U.S. and Canada. She lived in Flat River many years and later lived in Farmington where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. In 1992 she moved to Sullivan to make her home with her daughter and when she needed more intensive care she moved to Cuba Manor where she received loving care. She was a very special mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Imogene and Frank Aubuchon of Sullivan one brother, James Chilton of Sabula, Missouri and one sister, Wanda Dodge of DeSoto, Missouri, 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren other relatives and friends. Along with her parents and husbands, Myrtle was preceded in death by two sisters, Eunice Loyd and Velma Bowman and six brothers, Harrell, Oren, Elva, Marvin, Garvin and Vivian Chilton.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2003 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Cremation with private interment followed.
Charles Bandy
Charles Bandy of Sullivan passed away Thursday, December 19, 2002 at the age of 92 years.
Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2002 from I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home.
John E. Mathews, Jr.
John E. Mathews, Jr. of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2002 at the age of 44 years.
John was born on December 11, 1958 at Washington, Missouri to John and Joan (Harmon) Mathews. He was a life-long resident of the Sullivan area and had attended Sullivan High School. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing but found most pleasure in horses and horseback riding. He was a hoist operator in the construction trade and was employed through Local 513 in St. Louis until ill health caused his early retirement.
He is survived by his parents, John and Joan Mathews of Sullivan, one son, Brett Mathews of St. Peters, Missouri, one daughter, Sharri West of Fair Deal, Missouri, one sister, Debbie McDaniel and husband, Randy of Sullivan, three grandchildren, other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by a son, John Mathews III.
Memorial services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2002 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Visitation for John E. Mathews, Jr. will be from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. In lieu of flowers memorials may to given to the Cancer Society or the Pain Center in memory of John E. Mathews, Jr.
William S. Clonts
William “Bill” Samuel Clonts of Bourbon, Missouri passed away at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri on December 17, 2002 at the age of 73 years, 10 months.
Bill was born on February 17, 1929 at Potosi, Missouri to Bert and Hatie (Wisdom) Clonts and lived most of his life in California working as an iron worker. He honorably served his country with the U.S.Navy. On April 6, 1996 he was united in marriage to Esther Vance Ray at Cuba, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife Esther of the family home; three sons and one daughter, William M. Clonts and wife Ruby of Lakeside, California, Connie and Gary Finny of Santa California, Rob and Sheri Clonts of El Cajon, California, and Marcus and Angie Clonts of Elsberry, Missouri, three stepsons and four stepdaughters, Larry and Jan Williams of House Springs, Missouri, Terry and Mel Fonke of Arnold, Missouri, Janet David Gibbs of St. Louis, Missouri, Rich and Robin Williams, of Hillsboro, Missouri, Hope and John Rudd of Manchester, Missouri, Bruce and Kathy Williams of St. Peters, Missouri, Candy and Danny Quick of House Springs, Missouri, twelve grandchildren, fifteen step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Raymond Clonts of Sullivan, Missouri, Junior Clonts and wife, Betty of Campbell, Missouri, three sisters, Mabel and Bill Green of Sullivan, Ruby Buermann of Sullivan and Barbara Ray and husband, Clark of Leasburg, a brother in-law, Lester Vance and wife, Lottie of Steelville, Missouri, two sisters in-law, Elsie Hill of Bourbon, Missouri, and Lee Kearney of Jennings, Missouri, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends,
It was Mr. Clonts wish to donate his body to science. In doing so he hoped to help the medical profession learn more about Lou Gehrigs disease (A. L .S.) which he was afflicted.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2002 at Injoy Christain Fellowship with Rev. Mike Moccabee officiating.
Helen Bandy
Helen L. Bandy of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at the age of 87 years.
Mrs. Bandy was born November 23, 1915 at Bourbon, Missouri to Charles and Letha (Gasperson) Rohrer. She was a life long resident of the Sullivan /Bourbon areas and had owned and operated several rental properties in and around Sullivan. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and also found pleasure in playing cards. Helen was married three times all of which ended in death, first to Rush Kimberlin, then to Thomas Gregory and lastly to Wilber Bandy. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mardee Wigger and two brothers, Leo and Walter (Bud) Rohrer. Helen was a member of the Bourbon United Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. of Sullivan and volunteered her time at Missouri Baptist Hospital of Sullivan as a Pink Lady.
She is survived by one daughter Rhonda Poebla and husband Ed of Sullivan, a niece Mary Lee Pineda of Bourbon, seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2003 from the Bourbon United Methodist Church with Pastor Connie Gallagher officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Sullivan. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Alvie Reeves
Alvie C. Reeves of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Thursday, February 20, 2003 at the age of 80 years.
Mr. Reeves was born on May 21, 1922 in Sullivan and was a life long resident of the Sullivan area. He was a farmer by trade raising both cattle and various crops. He recently made his profession of faith in Jesus Christ and lived the remainder of his days at Life Care Center in Sullivan in the peace and love of his Lord.
He is survived by many cousins in the Sullivan area, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Janie Reeves along with several aunts and uncles which include Ruth Missey, Della Reeves, Bessie Falloon, Emma Smith, Raymond and Bill Reeves.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 24, 2003 from the Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Robert H. Williamson
Robert H. Williamson of Bourbon, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at the age of 78 years.
Mr. Williamson was born on March 10, 1924 near Bourbon, Missouri in the New Rock area. He had lived his entire life in the Sullivan and Bourbon areas. His profession in life was that of a welder and later an inspector with the Ford Motor Company in Hazelwood, Missouri. He was also instrumental in organizing the union at Ford and retired from there in 1979. On October 7, 1943 he was married to Erma Immekus at Sullivan and to this marriage three children were born. Mr. Williamson enjoyed gardening and was an avid hunter. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Arie No. 3781 of Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife Erma of the family home, two sons, Robert Williamson of Bourbon and Gene Williamson and wife Jodie of Sullivan, one daughter, Terri Ann Roach of Bourbon, one sister, Bonnie Coyle of Torrance, California, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by a brother Fred, and by four sisters, Helen Williamson, Alice Baker, Ailene Brown and Edith Figgey.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2003 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Richard Henson officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri.
