Crouch, Dorothy M.

Dorothy M. Crouch of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Thursday, February 07, 2008 at the Meramec Nursing Center in Sullivan at the age of 79 years, one month and nine days.

Mrs. Crouch was born at Bonne Terre, Missouri on December 28, 1928 to the late Marvin T. and Bertha (Rawson) Forshee. She was raised in the Bonne Terre area and on July 15, 1950 was united in marriage to Donis Walker in the state of Arkansas. This marriage was blessed with two sons and in late 1958 the family moved to Sullivan to make their home. Dorothy worked for a time at the former International Shoe Company in Sullivan and was later employed as a sales clerk at the former P.N. Hirsch Company. After several years she left that position and worked at the former Mid-West Footwear Company, also in Sullivan. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, traveling and volunteering in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. Dorothy was of the Baptist faith. After the death of her husband, Dorothy remarried in February of 1970 to Herbert H. Crouch. Mr. Crouch preceded her in death in May of 2002.

Dorothy is survived by one son; John Walker and wife Vicki of Sullivan, daughter in law; Paula Walker of Springfield, Missouri; step-children, Dennis Crouch and wife, Susan, Kim Crouch and wife Debbie and Sheila Bouse and husband Ron, three sisters, Donna Byington and husband Leonard of St. Louis, Marie Fite and husband Tom of Sullivan and Mary Lee Floyd and husband James of Trenton, Missouri; one brother Robert Forshee of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandchildren, Lori Coats, John Walker, Jr. and Joshua Walker; five great-grandchildren, Allix, Halle and Baylee Coat, J.D. and Jarrett Walker; step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Along with those previously mentioned Mrs. Crouch was preceded in death by one son, Richard Walker, a sister Carol Renolds and a brother Richard Forschee.

Private funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2008 from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home, Inc. in Sullivan with Pastor G. Scott Perry officiating. Interment was in Oddfellows Memorial Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri.

Dace, Sylvia Viola

Viola Dace of Sullivan, passed away Tuesday at the age of 98 years.

She is survived by a son; Vernon J. Dace, Jr. and wife Sharon of Sullivan; two grandsons, Jarrett Dace and wife Sherri and Derek Dace all of Sullivan, 4 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2008 from the First Assembly of God in Sullivan, MO with interment in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Viola Dace was held from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday evening at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.

Davis, John L.

John L. Davis of Sullivan, Missouri passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the age of 95 years.

He is survived by his wife Lillian nee Edwards of the family home; one son Roger Davis; two granddaughters, Shelly Foote and Allison Davis; other relatives and friends.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday from Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation was held from 4:30 until 8 p.m., Wednesday evening from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred or memorial contributions may be made to Saint Anthony School in the name of John Davis.

Davis, Leonard Albert

Leonard Albert Davis of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the age of 73 years.

Leonard was born at Valley Park, Missouri on April 12, 1935 to Albert and Mildred Emma (Boyle) Davis. He was raised there for a time and later moved to Webster Groves, Missouri. On April 3, 1954 he was united in marriage to Joyce Wagner at St. Louis, Missouri. He was employed for a time with the cities of Kirkwood and Brentwood as a truck driver and later worked as a crane operator with McCarthy Brothers working through Local 513 of the Hoisting Engineers. Leonard was a well liked and loved individual who would help anyone at anytime. He was also fond of camping and would take his family on outings every weekend. Leonard was a member of the Fraternal Order of Elks and a charter member of AmVets.

He is survived by his wife Joyce of the family home; two sons, Daniel Harris of Hillsboro, Missouri and Jeffrey Harris of Linn, Missouri; one daughter, Christine Strohmeyer and husband Daniel of Linn, Missouri; one brother, Gary Harris and wife Dorothy of Villa Ridge, Missouri; a sister-in-law Patricia Davis of Park Hills, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Davis and one grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 30, 2008 from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Vida, Missouri. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society in the name of Leonard A. Davis.

DeMiere, Thelma L.

Thelma L. DeMiere of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the age of 91 years.

She is survived by one son, James DeMiere and wife Donna of Sullivan; two brothers, Dale Siliven and wife Suzie of Fredericktown, MO, and Elmo Siliven and wife Mary of Okawville, IL; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Thelma DeMiere were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2008 in New Testament Baptist Church with interment at 2:00 p.m. in Polk Cemetery, Fredericktown, MO. Visitation was conducted in the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home on Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 5 – 8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to New Testament Baptist Church in the name of Thelma DeMiere.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Dotson, Esther M.

Esther M. Dotson of Cuba, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008 in at the age of 87 years.

Esther was born on December 17, 1920 in Tea, Missouri to Edward and Sarah (Bunton) Rector, one of four children. She married Mertis Dotson on May 22, 1941 at Steelville, MO. She enjoyed work, especially cutting wood, and continued to work in the yard until the age of 86.

Esther is survived, Richard Dotson and wife Josephine of Cuba; three grandchildren, Ricky Dotson of Cuba, whom she raised as a son, Tammy Highley and husband Kenny of St. Clair, MO, and Lena Dotson of Cuba; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Goldie Brown of St. Louis; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Alvie Rector; and a sister, Rosie Wolf.

Funeral services for Esther Dotson were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the Bourbon Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home with Sister Dora Cupp officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the family.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Blue, Clarita F.

Clarita F. Blue of Bourbon, Missouri passed away Monday, July 21, 2008 at the age of 52 years.

Rita, as she was known by her family and friends, was born at Greeley, Colorado to Clarence and Lois (Wolfinger) McCorkle. On November 23, 1973 she was united in marriage to Larry W. Blue. After their marriage they made their home in Missouri where Rita earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She was employed at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan and as a flight nurse with Air Evac. Rita was and outgoing and likable person who never knew a stranger. She always wanted to help people, which was the reason for her working in the health care field. Above all, she was a dedicated wife and mother and was a devoted homemaker.

She is survived by her husband Larry of the family home; children Tony Blue and wife Angie, Scott Blue and wife Misty and Trish Martinez and husband Brian; her parents, Clarence and Lois McCorkle; brothers, Larry McCorkle and wife Terry and Doug McCorkle and wife Pam; 8 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Rita was preceded in death by a brother Dennis McCorkle.

Memorial funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2008 from the Sullivan Christian Church with Pastor Jeff Bent officiating. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to the National MS Society.

Bommer, Audrey E.

Audrey E. Bommer of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the age of 81 years.

She is survived by two sons; Terry Bommer of Chesterfield, Missouri, Scott Bommer of St. Charles, Missouri; one daughter, Dawn Arrigo of Bourbon, Missouri; a step-son, Jerry Bommer of Franklin, Indiana; a brother, Glennon Sarhage of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; 7 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2008 from the United Methodist Church in Bourbon with interment in Bourbon Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Audrey Bommer was held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Bourbon. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House or to Barnes Cancer Research in the name of Audrey Bommer.

Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.

Boor, Martha Jane

Martha Jane Boor of Elsberry, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 at the age of 76 years.

Martha was born on February 18, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri to Carl and Helen B. (Houser) Wischmeyer. Martha spent most of her working years employed by the May Company as a purchasing agent. Her job took her around the world. Martha is survived by her mother, Helen Wischmeyer of Elsberry, Missouri; several special cousins; other relatives; and friends.

Graveside Funeral Services for Martha Boor were conducted at 12:00 noon on Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Oddfellows Cemetery in Sullivan, Missouri with Michael Delashmit officiating.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
