He worked for Western Electric (Lucient Tech) for many years.

Muriel Lee (Piening) Koch of St. Charles, Missouri passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Ambassador in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Reaching the age of 88 years, 6 months and 28 days. Muriel Lee Piening was born on September 21, 1924, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was raised by her grandmother, Dolly Laspe. After graduating from high school, she attended two years of secretarial school and went to work for Dr. King, Dean of Washington University School of Medicine, in St. Louis, Missouri and retired on September 29, 1989. On September 11, 1943, Muriel and Alan Jean Koch were untied in marriage, in St. Louise, Missouri. To their union were born three sons, Rick, Robert and Ronald. Muriel was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Charles. She always enjoyed praising the Lord and spending time with her family. For the past few months, Muriel moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska to be closer to her son Robert. Muriel was preceded in death by her grandmother, husband on June 15, 2005, two sons: Rick on September 16, 2008 and Ronald on August 12, 2012. Survivors of Muriel include her son: Robert “Bob” Koch and wife Sue of Nebraska City, Nebraska; daughters-in-law: Nancy Koch of Naples, Florida and Barb Rickelmann of St. Charles, Missouri; six grandchildren: Rick Koch, Jr. and wife Lauren of South Lake, Texas, Karen Barr and husband Erin of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Karla Smith and husband Aaron of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Dan Koch of St. Charles, Missouri, Katie Koch of Columbia, Missouri and Kristen Koch of Columbia, Missouri; six great grandchildren: Alyson and Jackson Barr, Andrew, Maggie and Rosie Smith, and Quinn Koch; special “Royals” sisters: Ruth Muskopf and Doris Davis; other relatives and friends.
