He continued his education at both the University of Missouri Columbia to earn his Masters Degree in Education and St. Louis University to earn his Masters in Mathematics. John taught mathematics and was the assistant principal at Chamois High School. From 1966 until 1990 he taught Math and Science in the Francis Howell School District. He also taught for the Math Department at St. Louis University in the late 1970’s. After thirty plus years of teaching he retired and spent ten years employed as a Department Manager at the Wal-Mart Center in Wentzville, Missouri as well as tutored many New Melle local students. Organizations: As one of the founding members of the New Melle Water District they were instrumental in obtaining city water in the New Melle area and later served as Clerk on their Board of Directors. He also served several terms on the New Melle Board of Trustees as Both Trustee and Chairman of the Board and served as Treasurer of the New Melle Lions Club. Interests: John loved to golf and usually had 18 holes in before most folks got out of bed. He was a good husband and friend to his wife of 47 years and loved to spend time with his family, barbequing, going on vacation, playing cards and games and giving everybody a little trouble. John was a great father who taught his children to golf, fish, hunt mushrooms, and appreciate the outdoors. He impressed upon them to always work hard, and of course taught them all to be good mathematicians. He insisted his children learn to change their own oil and flat tires before they could drive. John was a very hard worker himself, a jack of all trades, and a selfless provider for his family. When his children were younger he coached their Khoury League baseball and softball teams. When school was out for the summer, he ran a rock crusher and was on the dynamite crew at the St. Charles quarry. He built houses, rebuilt car engines, did home repair, raised cows and of course tended to his garden and still had time to read the paper every day. John fought very hard in his battle with cancer. Although his friends and family did not want to let him go, he is now free from the sadness of this life and has moved onto another life in glory. He will be missed by family and friends.
