Naomi Katherine Gill Heleine was born December 6, 1923 to Herschel B. and Eva Naomi Gill in Decatur, Illionis and went to be with the Lord on February 4, 2009. She was baptised in the Lord as a child and faithfully attended the Vision Christian Church in Foristell. Naomi was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, John Paul Heleine, on January 1, 1947 in Hutsonville, Illinois. She is survived by her children; Sandra Bizelli, Eva Rich, Paula Wallace, Karen Walker, Paul J. Heleine and David Heleine. Naomi was the proud grandmother of Cathy Kraus, Courtney Anbari, Amanda Low, Justin Cody West, Charles Eisenbath, Rachel West, Joshua Wallace, Christina Heleine, Melissa Prevost, John D. Heleine, Michael Heleine and Nathan Heleine. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Matthew and Ethan Kraus, Aidan Low and looking forward to the birth of Aidan's brother. Along with her immediate family, she is survived by her siblings, Pastor Clinton Gill, Richard Gill, Thelma Montgomery and Donald Gill. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband "Paul", brothers John Gill and USAF MSGT. Harold Gill. Naomi loved to sing and sang often at church services. She was a Vacation Bible School leader, Sunday School teacher, Girlscout leader and member of the Wentzville School District PTA. She served her community and country in many ways and was a charter member of the Wentzville Historical Society, member of the Wentzville Business and Professional Women's Club, The Republican Women's Club in St. Charles and O'Fallon, President of the Mid-Missouri Republican's Club, Republican Presidential Task Force, delegate to Republican State Conventions, the Wentzville and Lake St. Louis Chambers of Commerce and numerous other civic organizations. She was chosen for the "Anybody who is Anybody" section of the St. Charles County Newspaper. She was a charter member and assisted in writing the bylaws for the Femme Osage Republican Club of Western St. Charles County and especially enjoyed attending the inauguration in Washington, D.C. of President Reagan. Naomi became a member of the Wentzville Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in 1964 and served in numerous offices including Worthy Grand Matron. Naomi was one of three women who began the first Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in the United States in 1967 in Wentzville and was chair of the 1985 memorial re-dedication. She was well loved by hundreds of Vietnam veterans for her love and dedication to them and was an honored recipient of numerous awards and citations from them. Thousands of Vietnam veterans make a pilgrimage to this memorial yearly. Her work experience began as an airplane carburetor tester for the Bendix Aircraft Corporation in Chicago during WWII and was also a bookkeeper for jazz legend Lionel Hampton. Naomi returned to the work force in 1965 as the first branch manager of the Wentzville branch under the St. Charles County Library District. She served in this capacity and as Director of the St. Charles Library District until her retirement in 1989. Naomi was an avid reader and student of scripture and enjoyed keeping up with all the latest news. Naomi and her husband enjoyed their many trips to the western U.S. and to their place on Sanabel Island. Memorials may be given to Masonic Home East in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O.Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385. Pastor Larry Fry will officiate the funeral service. Burial will be at Memorial Gardens in St. Charles.
