Funeral services for Jessie Lois Hausgen, 90, of Elsberry, MO were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Elsberry AR Presbyterian Church. Rev. Conrad Cheatham, church pastor, and her grandson, Pastor Kris Hagemeier, officiated with burial in Star Hope Cemetery near Elsberry.
Mrs. Hausgen, 90, passed away Friday morning, March 12, 2010, at the Elsberry Health Care Center.
Born August 4, 1919 in Hanston, Kans., she was the daughter of Ben Chester and Alice Jeanette Meade Fakes. She was united in marriage on September 28, 1940 in Elsberry to Richard Wallace Hausgen. This union was blessed with three children: Donnie, Richard Wayne and Linda.
She was self-employed for several years as an Avon salesperson. In her early years, she was employed as a cutter at the Wells Lamont Glove Factory in Elsberry; and worked as a seamstress in the garment industry in Elsberry, Clarksville and Troy over the years. Mrs. Hausgen was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge No. 415, I.O.O.F. in Elsberry. She was a member of the Elsberry AR Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one son, Donnie Hausgen and his wife, Joyce of Quitman, LA; one daughter, Linda Hagemeier and her husband, Lynn, of Elsberry; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, Kenneth Fakes, of Ashland; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.

Mrs. Ellen Margaret Lillian Lewis, 87, of St.Charles County, passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at her daughter's residence in Gasconade, MO.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1922, in Foristell to Robert and Lillian (Schultz) Teckemeier. Ellen attended the local schools along with her sister, Mildred. On Aug. 26, 1939 she married the love of her life, Richard C."Red" Lewis in Hannibal. They were blessed with two daughters: Pamela and Bonnie.
Ellen worked at the garment factory in Wentzville before her daughters came along. She and her husband personally built their home in Wentzville. The Lewis' also owned and operated Lewis Electric Co. in Wentzville.
Whenever Ellen had a spare moment, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and fishing with her husband. Her family was her first priority. After her husband passed away in 1983, she traveled between Florida and Canada but settled down in O'Fallon. Ellen lived there until her health began to fail and later lived with her daughters.
Surviving are her loving daughters Pamela Stockdale of Gasconade and Bonnie Lewis-Matlock and husband Ron of St. Charles; her five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March, 16, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Troy City Cemetery, Troy. Officiating will be Rev. Craig Blaufuss.

Virginia "Granny" Schiefelbein, of Old Monroe, Missouri, died on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the age of 82.
She was the dear wife of the late Frederick Schiefelbein, Dear daughter of the late Harry and Mary Wright, Loving mother of Aleisa Beckmann and husband, Edwin, cherished grandma of Jesse Beckmann and great-grandma to Andrew Beckmann, dear sister of Betty Davidson and the late Esther Bookman.
She was a loving aunt and friend to many.
Ginny was employed with the Venture Bakery Department for 15 years before retirement.
The family was served by The Baue Funeral and Memorial Center, 3950 West Clay Street, St. Charles, MO. Cremation was held at the Baue Crematory with inurnment at St. Charles Memorial Gardens.

Harold Lavern Kay, 90, of Minot, N.D., formerly of Troy, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Harold was born Sept. 20, 1919, in St. Louis, a child of Thomas and Ethel (Pohl) Kay. The majority of his adolescent years were spent in an orphanage. After attending local schools, Harold went on to serve his country. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1945. Harold received the Silver Star for his service during WWII, in France, England, and Germany. Upon completion of his military service, he returned to the St. Louis area, and began his employment with McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company. Harold worked on the production line of the Gemini Space Capsule, the F-4, F-15, F-18, and numerous other fighter aircrafts. On June 12, 1946, he married his sweetheart, Mildred LaVern Powers. They were blessed with six children, Harold, William, Martha, Lelia, Linda, and John.
He was one of the founding fathers of the First Assembly Of God Church in Troy. In 1986, he married Delores Arkus. Harold took great pride in his duties there as Sunday morning greeter. In 2003 following the death of his second wife, Delores, he moved to Minot, where he lived with his son, William, and daughter-in-law, Barbara. He attended the First Assembly of God Church of Minot and truly cherished his church family.
He is survived by three sons, Harold A. Kay and wife, Karen, of Pevely, William E. Kay and wife, Barbara, of Minot, N.D., and John P. Kay and wife, Rebekah, of Grand Forks, N.D. He is also survived by three daughters, Martha Maguire, of Independence, Lelia Sentman, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Linda Hayeslip and husband, Jeff, of St. Charles. Harold is further survived by many grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the First Assembly Of God Church in Troy. The Rev. Darrell Alley, the Rev. Shirley Donelson-Scott, and the Rev. Robert Vinson will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday, from 1-2 p.m. at the First Assembly Of God Church in Troy. Interment will be private.

Alberta G. Momphard, 82, of Troy, followed the angels home on Tuesday, February 9, 2010.
She was born on August 28, 1927, in Briscoe, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Vera Belle Weeks-Groshong. She was united in marriage to Raymond Momphard, on July 6, 1968 in Augusta, Ill. She was preceded in death by Raymond on October 3, 1984.
Alberta attended Lindsey grade school. She was employed as a factory worker in Elsberry and Winfield. Alberta owned her own beauty parlor in Plymouth, Ill. She retired from Sheller Globe in Keokuk, Iowa. Then when she moved to Troy, she was a home healthcare nurse. She was a member of the Winfield Methodist Church and would volunteer at the Treasure Shop for the Crider Center. Alberta enjoyed reading, and quilting.
She is survived by one brother Pete Groshong and wife, June, of Troy; two nephews, Keith Groshong and wife, Denise, Scott Groshong and wife Trecia of Silex; one niece, Carol Wilp, of Moscow Mills.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Home/ Troy Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at the funeral home. The interment will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at noon in Revere Cemetery in Revere, Mo. Officiating was Reverend Bill Haffner.

A Funeral Mass for Myrtle Schramm, 91, of Wentzville, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wentzville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to time of service at the church.
Mrs. Schramm, 91, passed away Feb. 8, 2010 at Caregivers Inn in O'Fallon.
Born Dec. 13, 1918, she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna Mispagel who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Clarence "Dutch" Schramm; two step-sons, Father Edward Schramm and Thomas Schramm, one brother and his wife, Urban and Veronica Mispagel and one sister and husband, Ruth and Peter Zakrewski.
Survivors include two step-daughters, Carol and husband, Norm Ochsner, of O'Fallon and Sister Joyce Schramm, CPPS, of O'Fallon; two step-sons, Fr. Donald Schramm, of St. Charles and Leroy Schramm and wife, Ellen, of Wentzville; two sisters, Viola Boland, and Martha Alemling, both of Wentzville and six step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Schramm worked as a bookkeeper for Wentzville Lumber Company. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Wentzville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 323.

Anthony "Tony" T. Demma, 82, of Troy, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010, at Troy Manor in Troy.
Tony was born January 28, 1928, a child of Carmen & Rose (Martino) Demma. He was the youngest of 13 children. After attending the local schools, Tony went on to serve in the U.S. Navy. He was a 1st class Seaman and fought in WWII aboard the U.S.S. Los Angeles (CA-135) from 1945 until 1947. A year later, they were married. They were blessed with 3 beautiful children: Richard, Deborah, and Angela. Tony delighted in his role as father. Tony worked at the Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company as a metallurgist for 36 years. Being the hard worker that he was, he also drove a school bus for the New Hartford School system for 15 years. In 1983 he and Lucille moved to Colorado to be closer to their grandchildren. After retiring from the tool company, he served as the sergeant of security at the Aurora Mall from 1983 until 1990. Tony was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, International Association of Machinists, and Aerospace Workers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 61years, Lucille Demma of Troy; his son Richard and Tracy Demma of Moscow Mills; two daughters, Deborah Zeitlin of Denver, CO, and Angela Demma of Denver, CO; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 1 sister Mary Niermeyer of Utica, NY.
Visitation was held Monday, February 8, 2010, 9 until 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy. A funeral mass was also held Monday, February 8, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy. Father Tom Wissler officiated. Interment followed at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. The Rev. Jeff Bapst to officiate at the graveside.

Susan Elizabeth "Wibbie" Groshong, age 98, formerly of Troy, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at The Bluffs in Columbia.
She was born August 24, 1911, in Hawk Point to John Hunter and Nora Tice Heady Wilson. Nicknamed "Wibbie by her sisters, she moved to Troy with her family after her mother's death when she was 9 years old. She worked in garment factories in Troy and Louisiana before marrying Kee Hamilton Groshong April 9, 1935. Wibbie was well known around Troy because of her many years working at Troy's bakery shop and as a cook at the public school and TACOA senior citizens center. She was a long time member of First Christian Church of Troy.
Survivors include a son, Kee Wilson Groshong and wife Diana, two grandchildren, Kee Reese Groshong and wife Susan, Lisa Groshong and husband Trevor Harris, and great-grandchildren, Clio Natasha and Kee Thomas Groshong all of Columbia, one sister-in-law, Ethel Sheets of Troy, one cousin, Nina Jane Baird of Edwardsville, IL. and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11a.m. Friday, February 12, 2010 with services following at 11 a.m. at Kemper-Marsh-Millard Funeral Home in Troy. Burial will follow at Troy Cemetery.
