Frank E. Irvine
Frank Eugene Irvine, 75, of Centerview, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with Pastor Bobby Kent officiating. Pallbearers will be Rusty Longacre, Phillip Milstead, Rick Roper, Marvin Allen Wishon, Rodney Street, and Jack Caparoon.
Interment will follow at Centerview Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
He was born March 18, 1937, in Centerview, the son of John David and Pearl (Ruppert) Irvine.
On Aug. 31, 1957, he was united in marriage to Thelma Harmel in Miami, Okla.
Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1966 and was a Vietnam veteran. After his military service, he worked for MFA in Centerview and Warrensburg. He also worked in construction as a carpenter and for Central Missouri State University Furniture Repair. Frank was a member of the Medford Methodist Church.
Frank is survived by his wife Thelma; two sons: Karl Irvine, Gerald Irvine and wife Linda, all of Centerview; one daughter, Teresa Crane and husband Neil of Knob Noster; one brother, Charles Irvine and wife Edith of Long Beach, Calif.; one sister, Nellie Martin of Warrensburg; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vernon Irvine and John David Irvine, in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Medford Methodist Church and can be left in care of the funeral home.
Marion M. Kinney
Marion M. Kinney, 71, of Warrensburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at home.
Funeral Services take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at Ben Cast & Son – Wood Funeral Home, Holden, Mo. Pastor Michael Wakeman will be officiating.
Interment will follow at Holden Cemetery.
He was born Oct. 3, 1941, in Pleasant Hill, Mo., the son of Thomas and Rena (Alley) Kinney. He graduated from Kingsville High School in 1960 and had lived in Holden and Centerview, Mo. before moving to Warrensburg 15 years ago.
Feb. 22, 1963 he married Ruth Hamilton in Holden. Marion worked as a cutter at Holden Manufacturing Company/Unitog in Holden for thirty years. He always enjoyed working on cars and later owned a salvage yard on U.S. 50 Highway near Centerview. He was just a good old boy who said what he thought, right or wrong.
Marion is survived by his wife, Ruth Kinney, of the home; one son Richard Kinney and girl friend, Carrie Dove, of Centerview, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Evans, of Clinton, Mo., and Theresa Morrison, of Harrisonville, Mo., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.
Sharon J. Brown
Sharon Joyce Brown, 65, of Holden, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, Calif.
The funeral will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at Ben Cast & Son – Wood Funeral Home in Holden, Mo. with Brother Jeff Henson officiating.
Interment will follow at Holden Cemetery.
Friends may call the family from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home on the day of the service.
Sharon was born July 22, 1947 in Holden, Mo., the daughter of George Howard and Frances (Potter) Liddle. She lived in Holden all of her life and graduated from Holden High School in 1965. On Nov. 8, 1967 she married Michael E. Brown.
She leaves her husband, Michael Brown of the home; two sons, Shane Brown, of Calexico, Calif., and Joseph Brown, of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; her mother, Frances Cline, of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Terry Liddle, of Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Tommy Cine, of Kansas City, Mo.; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Denise Ballard, and her father.
Memorial contributions are suggested for early detection cancer research.
Kenneth E. Haak
Kenneth Eugene Haak, 49, of Kansas City, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at Ben Cast & Son – Wood Funeral Home in Holden, Mo. Cremation will follow.
Kenneth was born Sept. 4, 1963 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Rex Wendell and Ollie Lorraine (Burch) Haak. He attended Holden High School and had lived in Arizona, Louisiana, California, Oklahoma and Kansas City. Kenneth was an auto mechanic and was currently employed at Midas Muffler in Blue Springs. On Aug. 11, 1985 he married Rosalie Padron in Holden. She survives him at home.
He is also survived by two sons, Brian Padron, of Windsor, Mo. and Travis Haak, of Warrensburg, Mo.; three daughters, Amanda Padron, Jessica Haak, and Kristen Haak, all of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Stoney Oesterreich, of Arizona and Robert Haak, of Alaska; four sisters, Barbara Rogers, of Grain Valley, Mo.; Wendella Sanchez, of Columbia, Mo.; Deborah Watkins, of Stover, Mo. and Rexie Bailey, of Bay St. Louis, MSA; and four grandchildren.
Lloyd A. Bedsaul
Lloyd Allen Bedsaul, 95, of Holden, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Holden Manor Care Center.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, March 11 at Ben Cast & Son – Wood Funeral Home in Holden, Mo.
Interment with military honors will follow in Holden Cemetery.
Friends may call the family at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. the day of the funeral.
He was born Jan. 10, 1918 in Pittsville, Mo. the son of George Washington and Bessie Lee (Salyer) Bedsaul.
He married Marilyn Lycan in Harrisonville, Mo. May 20, 1940. She preceded him in death Aug. 2, 1996. Lloyd lived in Kansas City, Mo. for 35 years and returned to the Holden community in 1986. He worked as a printing press operator thirteen years at Clark Printing Company in North Kansas City. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and a member of Holden United Methodist Church.
He is survived by one son, James Allen Bedsaul and wife Beverly, of Cedar Park, Texas; two daughters, Janice Davis and husband Ron, of Camdenton, Mo. and Julia Hufford and husband Tom, of Kansas City, Kan.; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by six brothers.
Memorial suggestion is to Holden Ministerial Alliance.
Minnie M. Loveall
Minnie M. Loveall, 100, of Warrensburg, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Country Club Care Center.
Graveside services will take place at noon Saturday, March 30 at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg. Reverend Randy Crawshaw will be officiating.
Pallbearers include Randy Loveall, Chris Loveall, Kevin Loveall, Robert E. Loveall, Barry Loveall, Scott Schumacher, and Ed Schumacher.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
She was born July 16, 1912, in Aullville, Mo., the daughter of Robert F. and Abigail (Gardner) Shinkle.
Minnie worked as an electronics assembler at the Bendix Corporation in Kansas City for many years before retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Warrensburg.
Minnie is survived by her daughter in-law, Sue Ann Loveall, of Gladstone, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Julie Loveall Mellor, Chris, Kevin, Robert E., Erin, Randy, and Barry Loveall, Michelle Loveall Jury, Jackie Dunne, and Connie Houghland; two nieces, Marilyn Schumacher and Mary Ann Smith; three nephews, Mark, John, and Jim Shinkle; dear friend, Helen McMurphy, 32 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Robert J. and Jack D. Loveall, one grandson, Jeff Loveall, one sister, Marie Spence, one brother, Redin Shinkle, and one daughter-in-law, Kay Loveall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Warrensburg and can be left in care of the funeral home.
J. R. Parks
J. R. Parks, 71, of Warrensburg, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, April 29 at Grover Park Baptist Church with Pastor Brent Bullard officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Scassellati, Taylor Foster, James Hern, Michael Hern, Chris Johnson, and Matt Boeschen. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Peterson, George Bullard, Jack Leslie, Rex Smarr, Steve Angle, Don Alfermann, Stu Rogers, Russ Lemons, and Bob Postlethwait.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 28 at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
He was born May 2, 1941, in Avant, Okla., the son of Herbert and Hazel (Randolph) Parks.
On June 27, 1959, he was united in marriage to Anna Kohlmeyer in Avant, Okla.
J. R. graduated from Avant High School, in Avant, Okla., class of 1959. He worked in commercial construction all over the U.S. He and his brother Lee purchased a motel in Brookfield, Mo. from 1974 to 1977.
J. R. and his family moved to Warrensburg in 1977 and purchased the University Inn. They later purchased the Super 8 Motel and Expressways North and South. J. R. then managed Hidden Pines Country Club for eight years and retired in 2011. He was a former member of the High Point Baptist Church in Raytown, Mo.; a member of the Hidden Pines Country Club and attended Grover Park Baptist Church in Warrensburg. J. R. loved to play golf and spend time with his grandchildren.
J. R. is survived by his wife Anna; three children: Jaymie Scassellati and husband Gene, of Blue Springs, Mo., J. L. Parks, of Carl Junction, Mo., and Bryan Parks and wife Teri, of Knob Noster, Mo.; two sisters: Darlene Parks, of Shawnee, Kan., and Betty Hern and husband David, of Harrisonville, Mo.; six grandchildren: Shannon Boeschen and husband Matt, of Sedalia, Mo., Lauren Foster and husband Taylor, and Emily Scassellati, all of Kansas City, Mo.; Anthony Scassellati, of Blue Springs, Mo., Ely Parks and Riley Johnson, both of Pittsburgh, Kan.; and three great-grandchildren: Matalyn, Brooklyn, and Jaxan Boeschen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jeff and Lee Parks.
