James Lee Moore
January 21, 1934 - November 15, 2011
James Lee Moore, 77 of Jamesport, Missouri, formerly of Urich passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at North Village Park Center in Moberly.
James was born January 21, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of Thomas L. and Lucille C. (Hamilton) Elder. He was raised in Missouri, but lived in California for a brief time prior to serving in the United States Army as a paratrooper. Following military service, he lived in Maryland for several years. James eventually returned to Missouri, residing in Urich and more recently, Jamesport. While in Jamesport, he transported members of the Amish community. He was a welder with Boilermaker Local, #83.
Survivors include three sons; several grandchildren; two brothers: Thomas Elder and wife, Jamie of Liberty, Missouri; and Larry “Butch” Elder and wife, Arlene of Osceola, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Elder of Warrensburg, Missouri and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded by both parents and a brother, Robert Elder.
Following cremation, there will be a private interment in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg at a later date.

Shirley Ann Carey
April 9, 1927 - November 11, 2011
Shirley Ann (Edgar) Carey departed peacefully from this earth 11/11/11 in Warrensburg, MO. Shirley was born April 9, 1927 near Conesville, Iowa. She was the second of six children born to Ardie John Edgar and Elva Blanche (Probst) Edgar. She graduated Conesville High School at age 16. She and a friend rode a train to California during WW2 where she was a “Rosie The Riveter” before returning to the Midwest and graduating from the Chillicothe Business College in Missouri.
She married Donnell Eugene Carey on July 1, 1948 in Kansas City, MO. The couple were on the pipeline in the southwestern states for several years prior to moving to Dawn, Missouri in 1957. She worked for the Community Bank, now known as Bank Midwest for 17 years, advancing to the position of Vice-President. Shirley retired from the United States Postal Service in 1990 after 33 years of service, beginning as rural route carrier and advancing to Postmaster. She was a member of the Dawn Federated Church and also, a 50 year plus member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Tom Carey and wife, Vicki of Warrensburg, MO; a daughter, Christy Carey Barricklow, also of Warrensburg; three sisters: Lois Christofferson of West Liberty, Iowa; Billie Osborne and husband, Bob of Peoria, Arizona; and Gwen Shoemaker of Sun City West, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Marty Edgar of McPherson, KS; and three grandchildren: Sara Jane Barricklow of Warrensburg, MO; Lara Gail Barricklow of Springfield, MO and Michael and wife, Sarah Carey of Warrensburg, MO; Cathy Carey of Jacksonville, FL who has been like a sister to her for 66 years; and also, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-great nieces and nephews. (She was great about sending Birthday Cards).
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant granddaughter, Amanda Jean Carey; one sister, Eloise Frisinger and spouse Russell; her brother, John Edgar; Lois’ husband, Ed; Gwen’s husband, Ben and Christy’s husband, John.
Per Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. She did not want sadness...Go have a party. Interment will be at Ludlow Cemetery at a later date.

Eleanor W. Drake
September 7, 1921 - January 21, 2012
Mary Eleanor Woods Drake, 90 of Lee’s Summit, Missouri formerly of Warrensburg passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Wilshire at Lakewood Care Center in Lee’s Summit.
Eleanor was born September 7, 1921 in Maude, Missouri daughter of George D. and Rose N. (Worley) Woods. She graduated Valedictorian of the Class of 1939 from Bowling Green High School in Bowling Green, Missouri. She attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri for two years, followed by another two years at the University of Missouri in Columbia, where she graduated with a Degree in Education in 1943. Eleanor was united in marriage to Charles Goodloe Drake on September 8, 1949 in St. Louis. Due to Charles’ teaching career, the couple moved numerous times throughout the years. They lived in Fulton, Missouri; Columbia, Missouri; Norman, Oklahoma; Fairfield, Iowa; Vandalia, Missouri; Decatur, Illinois and Edwardsville, Illinois. In 1968, they made Warrensburg their home.
Eleanor was involved with campus activities and faculty wives at the numerous universities where her husband, Charles taught. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg, where she was involved in Sunday school classes, women’s church circles and other various church activities. She belonged to couple’s bridge groups as well as women’s bridge groups. She was a member of Welcome Wagon; American Association of University Women; Daughters of the American Revolution; Son’s of the American Revolution Wives; Beta Sigma Phi; West Central Genealogy Society; and the Hospital Auxiliary. Eleanor was a dedicated officer, usually secretary or treasurer with many of the before mentioned organizations. She also loved genealogy research, having traveled with her husband all over the world, researching their family histories.
Survivors include two daughters: Sarah Lesko and husband, Greg of Lee’s Summit, MO and Dorothy Sivils of Pleasant Hill, MO; a son, David Drake of Santa Cruz, CA; four grandchildren: Seth Lesko of Kansas City, MO; Cesily Lesko of Lee’s Summit, MO; Drake Sivils and Dawson Sivils, both of Pleasant Hill, MO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles following 50 years of marriage, and a brother, Turner Woods.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Rev. Louie Lowe of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg. Pallbearers will be David Drake, Greg Lesko, Seth Lesko, Dick Luehrman, Baird Brock, and A. J. Heck.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

John K. Simmons
August 21, 1957 - January 18, 2012
John Kevin Simmons, 54 of Centerview, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at his residence.
John was born August 21, 1957 in Columbia, Missouri son of Raymond G. and Nina L. (Kennedy) Simmons. He moved with his family to Centerview in 1970 and graduated from University High School in Warrensburg in 1975. He was united in marriage to Karen L. (Whitehead) Tate on July 13, 1984 in Centerview. John was employed with Stahl’s Specialty Company for over 30 years. His hobbies included bow hunting and black powder hunting. He loved riding his Harley, “Elvira” and spending time with his grand kids and the rest of his family. He was affectionately known as a “Master Barbequer.”
Survivors include his wife, Karen; two daughters: Lacey Simmons and Samantha Simmons, both of Centerview, MO; two grandchildren: Brittnee Catron of Higginsville, MO and Pake Buso of Centerview, MO; his mother, Nina Simmons of Centerview, MO; sister, Karen Allgood and husband, Russell of Holden, MO; brother, Scott Simmons and wife, Audrey of Centerview, MO; father-in-law, Bill Whitehead of Fayetteville, MO and seven nieces and nephews: Jake Allgood and wife Lea of Holden, MO; Diana Allgood and fiancé, Clifford Yearout of Lincoln, MO; Kelsey Whitehead, Kody Whitehead and Kelley Whitehead, all of Holden, MO; Brett Whitehead of Fayetteville, MO and Staff Sgt. Chad Whitehead of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond, his grandparents; a stepdaughter, Angie Tate and his mother-in-law, Doralene Whitehead.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Reverend David Owens of First Baptist Church in Centerview officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg. Pallbearers will be Sam Root, Bucky O’Rear, Tim Burnt, Terry Bell, Hubert Newman and Brad La Favor

Pat E. Arne
January 9, 1949 - January 10, 2012
Pat Arne, 63 of Holden, Missouri passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Pat was born January 9, 1949 in Norfolk, Virginia daughter of William and Mary E. (Webster) Todd. She graduated from Leeton High School in 1967. She was united in marriage to Chester Arne on March 8, 1969 at the First Christian Church in Warrensburg. Pat lived in Johnson County, Missouri for the majority of her life. She was in Supervisory Management and was a Program Analyst at the National Records Center. She retired from Department of Homeland Security for the Division of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Pat was a devoted member of Elm Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the piano. Spending time with her family brought her special joy.
Survivors include her husband, Chet; three children: Michelle Dickmeyer and husband, Mark of Sibley, Missouri; Dawn Vermillion and husband, Travis of Kincaid, Kansas and Matthew Arne and wife, Leah of Chilhowee, Missouri; two sisters: Mildred Rhode and husband, Morris of Prairie Home, Missouri and Cheryl Cox and husband, Steve of Independence, Missouri; two brothers: Clyde Webster and wife, Lucy of Smithton, Missouri and Paul Webster of Independence, Missouri; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents; an infant sister, Rebecca Webster and a nephew, Richard Webster.
Funeral Services will be 12:00 noon Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Elm Springs Baptist Church, north of Kingsville, with Reverend Robin Dale officiating. Interment will follow in Pisgah Cemetery, southeast of Holden. Pallbearers will be Anders Arne, John Webster, Adam Dickmeyer, Kyle Dickmeyer, Jeremy Bates and Brian Bates. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dalton Arne, Triston Arne, Codi Vermillion, Truett Vermillion, Nate Rodgers, James Webster and Randy Webster.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

Forrest H. McCannon
April 16, 1922 - January 7, 2012
Forrest H. McCannon, 89 of Phoenix, Arizona formerly of Warrensburg, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2012 in Phoenix.
Forrest was born April 16, 1922 in rural Johnson County, Missouri son of Herman and Lula (Heard) McCannon. He married Marjorie Bell in May of 1944 in Warrensburg. She preceded him in death in May of 1994. He later married Eunice Hickman in Glendale, Arizona.
Forrest was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Army, 104th Infantry, Timberwolf Division from 1942 to 1945. Attaining the rank of T/Sgt., he served in the European Theater, France, Germany, Belgium and Holland. He received a medical discharge in 1945. Following his discharge, Forrest worked for A & P Grocery Company for 30 years, retiring after heart by-pass surgery in 1976. He then moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He was an active member of West Glendale Baptist Church in Glendale, Arizona for many years. He had been a Deacon in the church for over 50 years. Forrest also loved to fish and he enjoyed many hours with his friends at the lakes.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice; a daughter: Janice Page and her husband, Mike of De Soto, Missouri; sister-in-law, Geneva McCannon of Sedalia, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two stepchildren; two step grandchildren; one step great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, Marjorie, he was preceded in death by three sons: Larry, Richard and Darrel McCannon; a grandson, Scott McCannon and two brothers, Ray and Leland “Jim” McCannon.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Rev. Pete Beard officiating. Interment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Full Military Honors by Warrensburg Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #2513 and American Legion, Post 131. Pallbearers will be Walter L. McCannon, James McCannon, Mike Page, Jr., Jeremy McCannon, Zack McCannon, Joe McCannon, Tony Fischer and Stanley McCannon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Forrest's granddaughters.

Mary Jo Bonner
February 7, 1935 - January 6, 2012
Mary Jo Bonner, 76 of Warrensburg, Missouri passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.
Mary was born February 7, 1935 in Waurika, Oklahoma, daughter of Eldridge H. “Bud” and Ruby H. (Allison) McMillen. She was united in marriage to Patrick Michael Bonner on May 16, 1975 in Stillwell, Oklahoma. She was a hairdresser in both Texas and Arkansas prior to the couple moving to Warrensburg. Mary was employed with Cripps Drug Store for 17 years. More recently, she was employed at Walmart in Warrensburg for 17 years. She was passionate about Children’s Miracle network, staying actively involved in fund raising activities for many years. She enjoyed reading and traveling. She was also very active in several churches throughout her life. Mary always wanted to be known as a “Preacher’s Kid.” She also never knew a stranger.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick; seven children: Richard Grinnals and wife, Malissa of Calimesa, California; Rusty Grinnals and wife, Alicia; Michelle Kehoe and husband, Chris; and Mylynda Grinnals, all of Klamath Falls, Oregon; Joey Henderson and husband, Brian of Collinsville, Illinois; Karen Ketchum and husband, Matt of Lusby, Maryland; and Shannon Heisler and husband, Joel of Whiteman Air Force Base; a sister, Sandra Jordan and husband, Carell of Fayetteville, Arkansas; two brothers: Danny McMillen and wife, Janice of Springdale, Arkansas and Jimmy Charles McMillen and wife, Barbara of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents; her daughter, Laura Wingate and two sisters, Gwen Roberson and Sue Hansen.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Rev. Sid Tiller of Northside Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Wayne, David Wingate, Jerry Mason, Shannon Runk, Steve Sutton, and Ray Vega.

Beverly A. Graves

Beverly A. Graves, 73 of Holden, Missouri passed away Friday, April 6, 2012 at Warrensburg Manor Care Center.
Beverly was born October 4, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri daughter of Forrest C. and Viola E. (Fryer) Graves. She moved with her family to the Holden area in 1946. She graduated from Holden High School in 1956. Beverly had been a clerk at University of Central Missouri, in Ward Edwards Library for 15 years. She was a member of Holden United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included collecting Elvis, Snoopy and Pepsi items. Beverly also loved dogs.
Survivors include her sister, Thelma Mae Harris of Windsor, MO; two nieces: Sheryl Claunch and husband, Jeff of Excelsior Springs, MO and Deborah Blackmore of Windsor, MO; three great nieces, three great nephews; and one great-great nephew. She was preceded in death by both parents; her brother: Edward Sherman Graves; two sisters: Helen Marie Davis and Betty Jane Lance; and a nephew: Frank Charles Davis.
Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Holden Cemetery with Rev. Steve House of Holden United Methodist Church officiating.
