John McFall Sr.
John L. McFall Sr., son of the late George W. McFall and Gertrude McDaniels McFall, was born on Jan. 20, 1936 at Morley and died at his residence at Dexter on Nov. 21, 2001, at the age of 65. Mr. McFall was a retired truck driver, a veteran of the United States Navy serving on the USS O'Brien and USS Dortch and a member of the American Legion Post 1000 in Dexter. He was united in marriage to Ruby Denney on Jan. 25, 1957 at Delta, she survives of the home. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeff McFall of Dexter and John L. McFall Jr. of Scott City; by one daughter, Gwen Hare of Ava; by one brother, Gendron McFall of Scott City; by nine grandchildren; and by three great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Alvin W. McFall and by one sister, Imogene Daniels. Visitation will be held at the Rainey Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26 in the Mt. Tabor Church in Ava with Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Interment will then follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery with Rainey Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
Anna Mae Little
WARRENSBURG, Mo. - Anna Mae Little, age 97, of Lawton, Oklahoma, formerly of Buffalo and Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2006, at the Willow Park Nursing Home in Lawton.
She was born on March 10, 1909, in Arcadia, Indiana, the daughter of George and Amanda (Derstler) Cobler.
On September 28, 1926, she married Marcus Little Jr. in Anderson, Indiana, and had 61 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1988.
Mrs. Little was a homemaker and had worked in Retail Department Stores. She was a member of the Savior Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Survivors include a son, Marcus C. Little III of Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter, Ruth Johns of Warrensburg; ten grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and seventeen great-great grandchildren.
The Reverend Rick Marrs will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Maple Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, Missouri, at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers are Chuck Johns, Dan Johns, Bill Weske, David Price, Mark Little IV and Ken Martin.
The family will receive friends on Monday morning from 9:30 until service time at the church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice of Lawton, Oklahoma and may be left in care of the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
Willis Christian
Willis "Putt" Christian, son of the late Jess and Ester Ellis Christian, was born in Puxico on May 31, 1913 and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter on Nov. 19, 2001, at the age of 88. Mr. Christian had lived in the Puxico community all his life and was a retired livestock and row crop farmer. He was a member of the Puxico Christian Church. In 1947, he was united in marriage to Freida Virginia Mason in Puxico. She preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 1989. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and eight sisters. Visitation will be held at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico after 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22. Funeral services will be conducted in the Watkins & Sons Chapel on Friday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Wiley McGhee of Puxico officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
J.R. McLard
J.R. McLard, the son of the late Frankilin and Rubie Tankersley McLard, was born in Bloomfield, Missouri on March 26, 1934 and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter on Nov. 20, 2001, at the age of 67. Mr. McLard had lived in Dexter most of his life. He was the owner/operator of J. R. McLard Truck and Equipment Sales in Dexter. He served in the United States Army and attended the Assembly of God Church in Dexter. On Oct. 25, 1953 he was united in marriage to Novella Cates in Dexter. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Starlin McLard of Dexter; by three brothers, Mitchell McLard of Bennington, Neb., Michael McLard of Chaffee and Ed McLard of Dexter; by four sisters, Elizabeth Burns and Pat Miller, both of Dexter, Frances McLard of Dudley and Ruth Worley of Cape Girardeau; and by one granddaughter, Moriah McLard of Dexter. Several nephews, nieces and many friends also survive. Visitation will be held at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 23, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. George Hill of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery, near Bloomfield, with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
Rev. James Poe
Rev. James R. Poe, son of Roy Poe and the late Agnes Hankins Poe, was born at Bloomfield on June 1, 1935 and died at Nov. 18, 2001 at Bloomington, Ill., at the age of 66. Rev. Poe was a member of United Methodist Church and was employed by United Methodist Churches as a Minister. He was a retired pastor of the Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church in Ill. On Oct. 7, 1967 he was united in marriage to Marian Rae Keys, she survives of the home.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his father, Roy Poe of Bloomfield; by one son, Stephen Poe of Bloomington, Ill.; by two daughters, Kim Bogle of Maroa, Ill. and Christine Jacobs of Watseka, Ill.; by two sisters, Carolyn Bell of Dexter and Brenda Horner of Imperial; and by four grandchildren. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Lisewski.
Visitation will be held at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 5 - 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 23. Graveside rites will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24 at West Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Rev. Ron Dunavin officiating. Chiles-Cooper Funeral Service of Bloomfield in charge of all arrangements.
LeRoy Parkinson
LeRoy Parkinson, the son of the late Thomas and Bernice Johnson Parkinson, was born in Essex on Oct. 26, 1927 and died at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on Nov. 16, 2001, at the age of 74. Mr. Parkinson was a retired carpenter. He was a former resident of St. Louis and Calif., but had resided in Dexter the past 15 years. Surviving are one son, Dennis Parkinson of Redding, Calif.; four daughters, Clara Parkinson of Dexter, Marlene O'Qinn of Oregon, Lois Hunt and Carol Ross, both of Redding, Calif.; two brothers, Arthur Parkinson of St. Louis and Mel Johnson of Mich.; one sister, Clara Litzler of Dexter; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
David Talley
David Shawn Talley, 22, of Brownwood, the son of Kenneth and Frankie Futch Talley also of Brownwood, was born June 15, 1979 at Cape Girardeau and died Nov. 16, 2001, as a result of an automobile accident on Z Highway in Wayne County. David was a service technician with Talley Heating and Cooling. Besides his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandparents, Helen Hill of Advance and August Talley of Brownwood; and by one brother, Christopher Talley of Advance. Visitation was held at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 4:30 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Nov. 19 in the Morgan Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jack Cathart officiating. Interment followed in the Berrong Cemetery at Gypsy with Morgan Funeral Home of Advance in charge of all arrangements.
Sherry Tilley
Sherry J. Tilley, the daughter of Patty and J.W. Tilley, was born in Dexter on April 21, 1973 and died at her home in Bloomfield on Nov. 17, 2001, at the age of 28. Sherry had resided in Bloomfield all her life. She attended the Assembly of God Church at Birds Corner. She is survived by her parents, Patty Tilley of Bloomfield and J.W. Tilley of Bloomfield; by one brother, John Tilley of Bloomfield; by three sisters, Mary Jane Tilley, her twin sister, and Tammy Starnes, both of Bloomfield, and Martha Starnes of Dexter; by her grandmother, Evelyn Crowell of Dexter; by five nieces, Jessica Starnes, Melinda Tilley, Paige Snelson, Allison Snelson and Amanda Tilley; by two nephews, Mitchell Tilley and Brent Starnes. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jack Crowell and her maternal grandparents, J.H. and Vevie Tilley. Visitation was held at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home at Dexter from 5 - 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Loyd Latham of Sikeston officiating. Interment followed in the Bloomfield Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
