Funeral services for Alexandra Alice Vargo, 87, Lake Saint Louis, were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at the Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. Rev. Keith Spaugh officiate. Burial followed in the Eternal Peace Cemetery at Wentzville.
Mrs. Vargo died Jan. 4, 2009, at the Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab, Troy.
Born July 16, 1921, in McKees Rocks, Penn., she was the daughter of Demetrius and Eva Drukalski.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Vargo, Lake Saint Louis; daughters Alexandra "Alex" Vargo, Colorado Springs, Colo., Alice Vargo, Empire, Colo., Lyn Vargo, Lake Saint Louis and Ana Vargo, Fort Collins, Colo.; sisters, Helen Strobel, Pittsburgh, PA, Martha Spagnoli, Fairless Hills, PA and Jane Yoder, Michigan City, IN and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Vargo was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel of the Lake Church in Lake Saint Louis.
Visitation was held from 12:30-1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Samuel Harper, 82, Elsberry, passed away late Wednesday night, December 17, 2008, at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. Louis, MO.
Born September 5, 1926, in Alton, Ill., he was the son of Samuel and Caroline May Stewart Harper. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946. He was stationed aboard the USS San Francisco, CA-38, a heavy cruiser which saw extensive action in the Pacific Theater. He re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1949 and served until being honorably discharged on September 1, 1956. He was united in marriage on October 30, 1950, in Webster Groves, to Jean Eva Breon. This union was blessed with two sons: Robert Samuel and David Breon.
Harper worked for 28 years for the City of Berkeley as a firefighter, retiring in 1982. He then drove a school bus for the Elsberry School District for many years. He was a member of the Elsberry VFW Post #9064 and the American Legion Post #226. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the USS San Francisco Association. He served on the Elsberry Rural Fire Board, was a first aid instructor, and was well known in the Elsberry community for acting as Santa Claus.
Survivors include one son, David Breon (Denise) Harper, Overland; three grandchildren, Nikki Harper, Haley (Harper) Haworth and her husband, Jordan, and Katie Harper; three step-grandchildren, Marty, Mandi and Micah Little; and two great-granddaughters: Ava and Ella Haworth. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
An open house in memory of Mr. Harper will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2009, at the home of his son, David Harper in Overland.
Dwight L. Casner, 99, Fulton, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2009, at the Fulton Manor Care in Fulton.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1909, in Troy, a son of the late Edward Homer and Lula Duncan Casner. On June 27, 1981, in Mexico, Mo., he was married to Mildred Surls. Casner worked for Washington Metal as a lift truck operator. He attended Troy Holiness Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred Casner, Fulton Manor and one granddaughter, Abby (Karl) Gilpin, Columbia; one grandson, Randy (Arla) Surls, Jefferson City; five great grandchildren: Derek and Ashley Gilpin and Megan, Brett and Morgan Surls and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009, at Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Home / Troy Chapel. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009, at the funeral home. Interment was held in Wright City Cemetery.

Lois E. West, 86, Troy, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2009, at St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake Saint Louis.
She was born on Sept. 21, 1922, in Ethlyn, a daughter of the late John W. and Ida Woodson Kelly. On November 21, 1953, in Troy, she was married to Stanley West who preceded her in death.
Lois attended grade school at Winfield. She worked at Wagner Electric during the war and made motor airplanes. She worked at T-Bowl Lanes in Troy for 10 years as a cook and for Incline Village Golf Course. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Troy. Lois was a past member of the Eastern Star and DNC Club in Elsberry. She is survived by two daughters: Linda (Sonny) Ramsour, Troy and Jeanine (Mitch) Mennemeyer, Troy; three sisters, Melba Galloway, Elsberry, Doris Cannon, St. Louis and Ida Mae (Derwood) Simpson, Independence; one sister-in-law, Ruby Kelly, St. Charles; three grandchildren, Lori (Earl) Collins, Megan (Doug) Kidwell and John Hutton; three great grandchildren, Ryan, Cheyenne and Izabella.
Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at the Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Home / Troy Chapel. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2009, at the funeral home. Interment was held in Troy City Cemetery.

Eileen Lillian Hampton, 90, Troy, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at the Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab in Troy of Alzheimer's and congestive heart failure.
She was born on June 28, 1918, in England, Ark. to William and Janey (Tucker) Merryman.
Following her formal schooling, she went to beauty college and later became an instructor for the Missouri Beauty Academy in Farmington. Eileen met her husband, Clarence Hampton, at church. He was holding a revival and Eileen was saved during those meetings. They were married on Oct. 21, 1934, and were blessed with seven children. The first church they started was in Birds Corner. They started with 150 members and they met under shade trees. From this church there were 23 ministers trained. Clarence and Eileen went on to pastor many other churches through the years: Canalou, Senath, Flat River, Bolivar, Lebanon, Joplin, Risco and Helena, AR. She loved to quilt and crochet. They had been foster parents to many children through the years. Her husband, Rev.Clarence Hampton, passed away on March 27, 1990. She continued to live in the Park Hills area until 6 years ago when she moved to be closer to some of her family in Troy.
Surviving are her loving children: three sons, Paul (Marlys) Hampton, Ballwin, Ronald (Dedra) Hampton, Lincoln, Neb., Michael (Linda) Hampton, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two daughters, Charlotte (Steve) Myers, Bolivar and Virginia "Ruth" (Gene) Goodson, Troy; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and three great-great-grandchildren on the way in 2009; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at 10 a.m. from McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home, Troy. Officiating were Revs. Dan Goodson and Darrell Alley. Interment followed on Saturday in Bonne Terre Cemetery, Bonne Terre with graveside services at 2:30 p.m. Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, from 3-8 p.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home, Troy.

Donald R. "Don" Hopkins, 72, Troy, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital at Lake Saint Louis.
He was born on Jan. 31, 1936, in Campbell, MO to John and Clara (Johns) Hopkins. Following his formal schooling he met and later married Carol Schultz.
Hopkins had joined the Southern Baptist Church in Lebanon, Ill. and was saved at he age of 25. He later moved to Brighton, Ill. and became a member of the Baptist church there where he served as an usher for several years. He had been a hardworker and retired from McDonnell-Douglas Corp. after 38 years of service. During much of this time, the family lived on a farm in Lincoln County.
He is survived by his loving children: Dennis (Lisa) Hopkins, Troy, Donny Hopkins, Moscow Mills, Sheila Wanger, St. Peters, Marla Seirras, of the state of California, Carla Hopkins, St. Peters; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Glenn A. Marvel, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008.
He was the husband of Kathleen Marvel (nee Bohn); beloved father of Kimberly (Philip) Gandello and Treavor Marvel; grandfather of four ; brother of David (Sonya) and Larry (Margie) Marvel; and other relatives.
He was born Aug. 18, 1949, in St. Louis, the son of Glennis and Dorothy Marvel.
Marvel was a business owner in the auto industry.
Memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at the West County Assembly of God Church, 13431 N. Outer 40 Rd., in Chesterfield. Visitation was held prior to the service at 9 a.m. Memorials may be made to the West County Assembly of God for Royal Rangers Ministry.
Lee Oliver Weinrich, 71, Troy, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1937, in Chesterfield, a son of the late George Fred and Pauline Lydia Queathem Weinrich.
Weinrich graduated from Troy Buchanan. He served in the United States Army from June 2, 1960 and was honorably discharged May 16, 1962. He worked for the Binkley Company for 25 years and also worked for McDonnell-Douglas for two years. He is survived by one brother, Paul (Ruby Mae) Weinrich, Hawk Point; one sister-in-law, Alta Mae Weinrich, Troy; two nephews, Dennis (Clinetta) Weinrich, Montgomery City and Jerry (Cheryl) Weinrich, Hawk Point; one niece, Kathy Sue Weinrich, Hawk Point; one great niece, seven great nephews.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at the Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Home Troy Chapel. Funeral services were held at noon that day at the funeral home. Interment was held at 2 p.m. in the St. John UCC Cemetery in Chesterfield.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Doyle H. Harris, 72, of Troy, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008, at his residence in Troy.
He was born on July 31, 1935, in Allison, Ark to Jim and Eva (Sersey) Harris. Doyle grew up in Mt. View, Ark along with his siblings: James, Lillie, Jessie and Everett.
Harris retired from working at General Motors after many years. He had been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy.
Some of his hobbies included listening to country western music, eating breakfast each morning at Landmark Restaurant and playing bingo every Monday and Friday.Surviving are his loving family: his sons, Harvey Harris, West Memphis, Ark, David Harris, the state of Louisiana and Rodney Harris, of Troy; his siblings, Elmer (Barbara) Harris, Mt. View, Ark, Lillie Franks, Mt. View, Ark, Jessie (Sarah) Harris, Festus and Everett (Peggy) Harris, Pevely; his sister-in-law, Pauline Cantrell, of Marianna, Ark; 5 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral mass was held on Monday, June 23, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Troy. Officiating was Fr. Chuck Ticacheck. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Troy.
Pallbearers were Leon Blattel Jr., Leland Blattel, Christopher Blattel, Timothy Blattel, Wesley Boyd and Justin Blattel. Visitation was held on Sunday, June 22, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. and also Monday, June 223, 2008 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home, Troy. A rosary was said at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
