Funeral services for Norvell Sylvester Hall, 93, of Paynesville, were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Keith Barnhart, pastor of the Edgewood Baptist Church near Bowling Green, officiated. Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery near Clarksville.
Mr. Hall passed away Friday, June 13, 2008, at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry.
Born Aug. 31, 1914, in Hannibal, he was the son of Pearl Hiram and Alice Norvell Hall. Orphaned at age 8, he was raised by his aunt and uncle, Minnie and Ben Lewis.
Hall was a 1933 graduate of Paynesville High School. He was united in marriage on March 1, 1936, in Troy to Doris Maurine Aderton. A lifelong resident of southern Pike County, he was a farmer and operated Hall Farms near Paynesville until his health no longer allowed his active participation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Alice Hall; his adopted parents, Ben and Minnie Lewis; his cousin/brother, Ben Lewis, Jr. and his beloved wife of over 68 years, Doris Hall, who died on Dec. 21, 2004.
Survivors include two sons Benny Hall and his wife, Hettie, of Eolia, Donald Hall and his wife, Judy, of Elsberry; three daughters, Bonnie Occhi and her husband, Richard S., of Troy, Sharon Worthington and her husband, Danny, of Bowling Green and Karen Norton, of Clarksville; eleven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his "adopted" sister-in-law, Louise (Mrs. Ben Jr.) Lewis, of Eolia; several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Monday, June 16, 2008, at the Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
Memorials may be made to the Edgewood Baptist Church or to the American Diabetes Association in care of Carter-Ricks Funeral Home, 107 South Fifth Street, Elsberry, MO 63343.

Lester F. "Lec" Schaper, 78, of Moscow Mills, died on Saturday, June 14, 2008, at his home.
The son of the late Fred and Lily Schaper, he was born on Feb. 5, 1930, in Warrenton. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Herald "Butch" Schaper and Delmar "Smokey" Schaper.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rosemary; two daughters, Debbie (John) Broyles and Carol (Shawn) Foley; two sons, Jeff Schaper and Jerry Schaper and four granddaughters, Jessica, Megan, Jenna an Katie.
Schaper served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954. He was co-owner of Schaper's Store in Moscow Mills for 32 years. He also worked for Dulin-Harrell Lumber Company in Hawk Point and Troy for 14 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed attending auctions and doing repair work.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Mr. Schaper's life at Ingersoll Chapel in Troy on June 28. The gathering will begin at 1 p.m. with a service following at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to the American Heart Association or to PALS of Lincoln County.

Carla Jane Shaw, 47, of Wentzville passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 15, 2008.
She was born December 18, 1960, in St. Louis, a daughter of Raymond and Mary Ruth Campbell.
She is survived by one daughter, Angelique Draby of Troy; one son, Christopher Shaw of Troy; two brothers, Dale Campbell and wife, Rose, of Maplewood, and Kevin Campbell of Wentzville; one sister, Rita Sherman, of St. Peters and one grandson, Dominic Draby of Troy; nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: Brenda Campbell, Judy Murphy and Mark Campbell.
She was a homemaker.
Memorials may be made to Community Loving Care Hospice in care of Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Chapel; PO Box 222, Troy, MO 63379.

Funeral service for Wilma A. Baker, 66, of Troy, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2008, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008, at the Baue Funeral Home in O'Fallon and from noon to 2 p.m. on June 15 at the funeral home in Dexter.
Mrs. Baker died Wednesday, June 11, 2008, at the Lincoln County Medical Center in Troy.
Born Aug. 22, 1941, in Parma, she was the daughter of Leo and Viola Breece. On Feb. 21, 1961, in Dexter, she married James Baker.
Survivors include: two daughters, Rhonda (Bill) Schrum, of Wentzville, Lori (Steve) McCarthy, of Houston, Mo.; one son, James (Daniele) Baker, of Liberty; three grandchildren; four brothers, Tom Breece, of San Angelo, Texas, Doyle Breece, of Lonoke, Ark., Randall (Saunie) Breece, of Jackson, Mo., Buck (Bea) Breece, of Risco, Mo. ; two sisters, Pauline (Buddy) Baldwin, of Cuba, Mo., Lavada Oaker, of Cuba, Mo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Laverne Ohr and Betty Lawrence.
Baker worked as a cafeteria cook in the Ft. Zumwalt School District. She was a member of the O'Fallon Christian Church.
Memorials made be made to the Wentzville Christian Church Ball Field Fund or to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral service for Larry E. LaBoube, 59, of Lake Saint Louis, will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008, at the Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville and from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Visitation will be held on that day from 10 a.m. until time of service. Officiant will be Fr. John Caffee.
Mr. LaBoube passed away on June 11, 2008, at his residence.
Born Sept. 4, 1948, in St. Louis County, he was the son of Vernon and Helen LaBoube. They preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Carol LaBoube, of Lake Saint Louis; two sons, Mark LaBoube and Kevin LaBoube, both of O'Fallon; one daughter, Sandra LaBoube, of Lake Saint Louis; three brothers, Michael LaBoube, of Lake Saint Louis, John LaBoube, of Hazelwood and William Meyer, of Foley and three grandchildren.
LaBoube was a retired locator for Laclede Gas and a member of the AFL-CIO Local No. 6.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society made be made in care of: Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385.

Sallie Elizabeth Gaines, 89, of Troy, Missouri, died Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Lincoln County Nursing and Rehab Center in Troy.
The daughter of Willie Lee and Effie Ellen (McKnight) Bigham, she was born May 7, 1919, in Pontotoc, MS.
On October 12, 1935, in Blytheville, Ark., she married George Thomas Gaines. George preceded her in death on February 26, 1988.
Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Beverly Marie Mooney; one son-in-law, Dennis Wayne Mooney; one daughter-in-law, Grace Gaines and two brothers, Charles Bigham and Troy Bigham.
Sallie is survived by one son, Edward Jerry Gaines, Sr., of Arnold; two daughters, Viola Berneking and husband, Bill, of Troy and Patricia Steen and husband, Rich of Troy; seven grandchildren, Toni Horst, Roxanna Cayce and husband David, Eddie Gaines, Jr., Bart Berneking, David Berneking and wife, Paula, Carrie Steen, Rick Steen, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Monroe Lee Bigham and wife, Vera, of O'Fallon, MO, Guy Odell Bigham and wife, Hazel, of Godfrey, IL and many nieces and nephews.
Sallie was a homemaker all of her life. She worked at the Lutheran Altonheim Nursing Home in the 1960s. She has been a member of the Kingshighway Baptist Church since 1972 where she did extensive mission work. Since moving to Troy, she attended the First Baptist Church of Troy. Her favorite things to do were to listen to and sing gospel music. She was a wonderful cook and a talented seamstress. Revelations 21:4 was her favorite bible verse.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Ingersoll Chapel for Funeral & Cremation Services, 211 Boone Street, Troy, MO 63379, with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Reverend Richard Rhea and Pastor Paul Powell were the officiating ministers. Interment was in Laurel Hills Memorial Garden, 2000 N. Pennsylvania Ave., St. Louis, MO 63133 at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 12, 2008.
Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Eye Institute for Macular Degeneration or to the American Diabetes Association in care of Ingersoll Chapel for Funeral & Cremation Services, 211 Boone Street, Troy, MO 63379.

Rubena Darlene Howell Stephens, age 87, of Silex, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2008, at the St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles.
She was born on January 26, 1921, in rural Lincoln County to Elmer F. and Nellie Althea (Vaughn) Howell. She grew up in rural Lincoln County and attended Silex school. She then moved to St. Louis to work. While in St. Louis, she met Louis R. Stephens, whom she married in July, 1941. They were married at the Immanuel Baptist Church in St. Louis. In 1948, they purchased a farm near Troy, moving there in 1951 to start dairy farming. After farming, Darlene was active in the church but most of the time preferred just staying at home. She especially enjoyed being outdoors. Louis and Darlene were blessed with three children: Judith Kay (David), Robert David (Shelly) and the late Jewell Ann (Mike).
Also surviving are grandchildren, Cody and Katlin Stephens, Nathan Stephens, Billee Vratney, Don (Amy) Nealy, Janna (Dan) Thoman and Alex and Brandon Bruning; step-grandchildren, Russell, Crissy & Mike Bruning; great grandchildren, Jimmy, Seth, Caleb, Eli Vratney, Alysssa, Taylor, Gracie Nealy, Makenzie, Sophie and Thomas Thoman, Mathew and Jillian Stephens.
Preceding her in death were: her parents, her husband, Louis, a daughter, Jewell Ann, and a grandson, Alex.
The funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 2008, at the Mc-Coy Blossom Funeral Home, 1304 Boone St., Troy. Officiating were Rev. Sam Lorton and Rev. Louis Hunt. Interment followed in the Sulphur Lick Cemetery near Troy.
Memorials may be made to the Sulphur Lick Cemetery c/o McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home. The visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008, & Thursday, June 12, 2008, 8-10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Wynema Scott, 81, of Moscow Mills, formerly of Troy, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2008, at her home.
She was born October 21, 1926, in Marshall, Mo. She was one of 13 children born to Estil and Florence Finley Garrett. She was married for 38 wonderful years to Walter Scott who preceded her in death in 1984.
Wynema faithfully attended the Friedens United Church of Christ and spent most of her life as a homemaker and caring for the elderly. She was proud to have lived at Four Seasons Assisted Living for over 18 years. Her favorite bible verse was John 3:16 "God so loved the world."
She is survived by one brother, Russell D. Garrett of Marshall, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and many special friends.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Kemper-Marsh-Millard Funeral Home/Troy Chapel. Funeral services followed at noon. Pastor Eugene Rahmier officiated. Interment was held in Asbury Cemetery next to her husband.
Memorials may be made to Four Seasons Assisted Living in care of Kemper-Marsh-Millard Family Funeral Chapel; PO Box 222, Troy, MO 63379.
